1.
Or get a new laptop
Why? It works fine for basic web browsing, when there are stupid animated gifs all over the shop.
  2.
I see that nothing's been done about this as another huge animated avatar (over 500k) has just appeared. These are playing havoc with my laptop, any idea when the problem will be fixed?
My ageing laptop also can't cope with the larger animated avatars. When there's a page with a couple of different ones the browser totally locks up. I know on other forums I go on there's an option to hide avatars. Can this be done here? Of course the simplest option would to just limit the file size...
  3. I remember, quite a few years ago, when my first band used Rich Bich (Bitch?) studios in Brum. We had Pop Will Eat Itself in the room next to us rehearsing for a tour and there were a couple of big name metal bands using a couple of the larger rooms above us. We couldn't really hear ourselves very well mind.
  4.
Yes, that's the one!
Nice!! I hope to see many, many photos when it arrives.

I don't think this has been posted:
  6.
Yes, in the larger studio I've used, the technician used to come in as we were packing up and helped coil the mic cables, re-arrange the stands etc so it was nice and tidy for the next band. And just checked we'd not nicked or trashed anything.
The one in this place used to check amp/pa settings as soon as he walked through the door. He took the time to talk to the band and find out what they wanted and then help tweak settings if necessary.
  7.
makes perfect sense to me
Oh, if you did continually abuse the equipment you were banned.
  8. One place I reheased at, in the late 80s, used to give you a battered Carlsbro combo for the first few weeks. If you proved you could be trusted you'd get access to better gear, ended up using a TE 4x10 combo. At the end of the sessions one of their guys would come and help pack away so they could check what you had done (and to set up the room for the next users). They didn't do this in an overbearing manner,so it didn't really feel like you were being watch like a hawk.

Checking the Thomann website just now and noticed this:
Availability of this item: shipment due to arrive on 05.03.2012
So that maybe around the time that other places in Europe get them too.
  11. Ooh, nice. Very generous of Jason How and Rotosound. and top idea of discreet's!
  12. I was surpised how cheap hardware for warwicks is. £40 for the 2 piece bridge in gold!!

  14. Sounds great!! I shall definitely check it out when I get home tonight.
  15.
Is that a guitar Humbucker at the neck?
It's a factory fitted pick up> http://uk.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/signature_models/bb714bs/
  16. If I could have afforded, in my youth, one I'd have put a trem on my SB Elite.
  17. When do you open your bass rig museum?
  18. bartelby

    Why?
It's just a shame that a few folks (not many mind) can't accept that effects and pedals can be an instrument of their own, that many forms of electronic music are based upon the sounds that these things create.
Very true. I did like your comment about you bass being oscillators and the fx being the rest of a synth. Fantastic way of viewing things! I have a very broad view of musical instruments. To me, if you can get a noise out of it you can use as a musical instrument. I just wish I have the time, and a tad more money, to experiment further.
If only there was an EHX contest like that.. or even better, a Zvex one.. *drool*
EHX one would be awesome!! Zvex I can leave.

    Why?
Don't worry Shep, there are people spending more money than you: http://www.facebook....&type=1 The guy who commented on your pic must me a failed guitarist who never could get the hang to control a simple crybaby...
I bet that was the guy who won the Boss competition last year. The prize was the entire pedal range.
  20. A while back, after many months of arseing around with newer posher gear, I discovered my old rig, a Peavey MkIII Standard and old Laney 4x10, can get pretty close to JJ's sound when I use my Fender P, It can't do much else mind. I was about to get rid of them too...
  21. Thought I'd bump this to say that ANTA are playing The Croft in Bristol this coming Saturday 28th http://www.the-croft.com/whats-on/eventdetails/28-jan-12-anta-the-croft/ Everyone should get to hear them live!!
  22. bartelby

    Why?

I haven't read any of the comments yet. But I can imagine. And as for someone winning 2 TC prizes, all I can say is FIX!! (but no, congrats again. With your board I'd have thought you'd have won all 10!)
  23. Buy a drum machine and program them? That way you have full control of them. Plus doing that will almost certainly guarantee a decent and reliable drummer will join the band just after you finish programming the bloody thing (has happened in 2 bands I've been in)!
  24. bartelby

    Why?
Wow - I didn't realise I'd won one!!! Cheers for the heads up!! That's the 2nd thin I've won on TC's give away's!
They posted winners on FB and your board was the 3rd on. Unless someone else has a shed load of Moogs and 2 OC-2s... ... now feeling nervous...
