1. Welcome to the forum
2. Welcome to Basschat
Been playing bass about 15 years, which as I write that makes me cringe.
It doesn't get any easier, I remember when I had been playing 15yrs & I'm sure there are many on the forum who can double that figure
3. I'm sure it could aid online sales. It's been said before but a lot of people are listening through rubbish laptop speakers which I'm sure do bass players few favours. I'd welcome it personally
4.
what price do you think i should drop it down too
£40 is a great deal for this pup so I think you have it right
5. Hi Pete - Welcome to Basschat
6. Two choices for me depending on my knoweldge gaps; if it's just a small thing I usually write on the set list next to the offending track something to trigger it i.e. F# after solo, or if it's more complex I use blank postcards and write on those. I regularly take those on stage as they are descreet and easy to read. I always only write what I am likely to forget, so if the verse is C,F & G it's unlikely I'll need notes on that! It's usually good for middle sections or changes to amp settings
7. I too use the IntelliTouch PT-10 but any clip on tuner is usally fine. I leave mine on the bridge all the time and occasionally practice with it on if working on my intonation. I've found there are dead spots on the bridge where sometimes it doesn't register but if you move it around a little you usually find a spot and can just go from there
8. Fender's QC can occasionally be a bit hit & miss. If it plays great I probably wouldn't worry BUT everyone is different and now is the time to shout. You could just go for a full refund. I too can confirm the logos were like that in the 50s but the rest is just poor workmanship. None of it is life or death but it is enough to take the edge off an instrument for some people. It's also the danger of buying online occasionally. A roadtest instore could have cured your GAS for this bass.
9. I'm pretty much a finger player these days but I see these are actually designed for bass. Just a shame the bass ones are packs of ten. I'm mildly curious whilst stopping short of wanting to buy one. Could be interesting to try on a studio recording
10. Fair play to you. Best of luck
11. I'm pretty much in the Originals with the (very rare) odd cover thrown in right now but I've had some great times playing with covers bands in the past. I tend to favour Originals bands as a rule but it depends on the music and the people in the band
12. I wish I'd learnt when I was younger. The reality currently is between work and all the constraints of life I simply don't have the time. I can see myself learning around retirement age and kicking myself for not having done it sooner. Right now it isn't and can't be a priority.
13.
is £50 too high for these pickups HBP
It's ok / fair but not brilliant. I got mine on EBay for the absolute steal of about £28. I've seen one go since for a similar price, maybe a bit more. £50 on EBay incl UK p&p and I reckon it'd go eventually. It stands to reason if you knock it down a bit more it'll go quicker. They are seriously good pups & I love mine
14. These always remind me of school, in a good way Quite the bargain
15. I haven't gigged another bass in over 6 months so for me it would be an easy choice
16. Well somebody has gone for this then...
17. Scrub that, they are passive & a few places state they are in stock. My SPB-1 just seems to be taking an age and I've had this before with SD
18. SD are always woefully under stocked. Yes you can but you may have to order them in. Can't help with the other bit
19. The two backing vocalists in my band actually front other bands. I don't have the voice to front a band & I certainly wouldn't sing lead at anything other than a rehearsal or soundcheck. Re the OP, it's not a bad idea to tape yourself so you can be objective. It may be you really build with confidence & it may be you realise backing vocals are the place to stay. I assume the singer's back is a one off & this isn't going to develop into a bigger problem?
20. Welcome to the forum
21. You're very welcome Mike
22. We were due to play there next month but they have suddenly changed the venue to one down the road. Can't remember the name but I'll worry about it nearer the time.
23. I own 2 Fender Precision bass bodies as well as a 1978 proper full bass. The going rate on EBay seems to be about $500 but these are the ones that constantly get relisted. Rerouting is common for different pickup configurations as was the fashion back then but a lot of this will be hidden under the pickguard. I reckon there are a fair few bargains out there and with a bit of hunting £150 seems a fair deal.
24. It's also worth remembering that (courtesy of a thread yesterday) there is also one on EBay for a mere £500!!! I'd say this one is a very good deal, not a great deal but almost
25. Nice one I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it
