Yamaha Attitude Bass £180 on Gumtree
karlfer replied to Weststarx's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yup, it's an Attitude Standard. Not one of the range of Billy's Ltd models, or even the Attitude Special, which was quite close. This is still a good bass at a decent price, but these were just "run of the mill" models. -
I am wondering if anybody has tried the Tone Hammer with Markbass cabs, in particular 2 x Traveler 102p 210's. Around Manchester area there is no retailer (that I can find), where I can try Markbass amps or the Tone Hammer. I'm guessing the Markbass heads will work very well, but would like input re the Aguilar if possible. I am stacking these cabs vertically so need something narrower than the Carvin. Gutted that I was offered a SVT 7 Pro Ampeg and couldn't take it. Because of width and I have never got on with Ampeg It did look fantastic though! Cheers in advance Basschat Collective.
This is a lot of amp for the price. Anyone who gets this will be very happy
Yup, 60 year old American company, not as well known as they should be. I mean, they even made custom guitars/amps for some geezer called Vai
why not use the carvin vertically too - may help with sound dispersion
As in falling off the top and bouncing around

Going back to Markbass after GK ( choice of two heads )
CDO - like OCD but in the correct order. on that topic... I was pretty relieved to find the Gator 6U case that arrived today is the same footprint as the top of my Traveller cabs - no overhang!
Aha, gotcha now . I'm old and originally from Darlington, I demand allowances
Karl, ha ha yep, it was annoying me too for my brief (cameo?) appearance on Friday....
Bloody Hell Martyn, must have been brief, I didn't see you Good job really as it was a bit of a disaster one way or another Thankfully Saturday wasn't, but some precocious girlies made me rather nervous. Mind, it was Walkden -
Geek99 - apologies, I should have been more specific re: the tort - it has a fairly authentic red celluloid look but I was referring primarily to the relicing - it's excellent and the faked 'crack' behind a screw is very cute. Re: the frozen bridge, it was perhaps over-relived and the process (oxidisation) had interfered with function. One intonation screw and six of the saddle screws were entirely frozen - various solvents/lubricants/techniques failed to free them. Mark politely acknowledged the problem and is likely to offer advice/guidance in the future. I replaced all intonation screws and saddles - the latter with inexpensive but good brass barrels. The barrels are not threaded but its not an issue for me - the bass plays beautifully
I had the same issue with the screws on the saddles rusted in place. A £10 bridge off FEEBay, replaced the saddles/intonation screws on the bass and now it's perfect and set up how I like it.

Carvin BX 700. This beast has red backlights for stage, ss or valve pre amp switch, contour, eq plus switchable graphic eq so lots of tonal options. MADE IN THE USA. Has a 2ohm selector switch on back. It is 4 months old and in immaculate condition. New around £460, I would like £340 delivered to you mainland UK, or £325 collected from Wigan. EDIT, post#11 has a demo, thankfully not me! Bank transfer, cleared cheque or cash on collection. Sorry, no PAINPal. Hopefully link to the handbook thingy. bx700-revA-manual.pdf It does not come with lockable lead in the UK. My feedback should be linked at bottom of post. Reason for sale, pathetic! I have just bought some Markbass cabs which I use vertically for sound dispersion. As can be seen from Fri Sat night gig photos, the head overhangs the cabs by an inch either side. I can feel this visual aberration burning into the back of my skull . I have discussed this bordering on mild OCD with other members and I am grateful to report I am not the only one Think that's it, crap photo's alert. OH, I FORGOT!!!! Don't know if it just works because it's my photobucket page, BUT, if I click on the top photo, it opens my photobucket page. I can then clip a magnifying glass icon and it zooms the photos

Going back to Markbass after GK ( choice of two heads )
karlfer replied to flippyfloop's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a Berg HD112 and a HD210. I run them with a SWR MM Pre in a Gator rack case, and it kills me that the rack case doesnt fit on top neatly. Theres a overhang on all four sides. I really dont want to swap any of them, but it drives me insane.
That's me!
I think you mean CDO..?
Do I ? -
Mark is in process of building a P bass for me. Yes, it will be reliced because I like 'em like that. The spec is a little bit different - I'll post pics when I get it. Happy Jack's to blame........................
Don't forget to put some pic's up on the "Show us your Limelight" thread.

Simply stunning work!

Headstock is 17/32s on mine, or fractionally over half an inch in old money Fender didn't always have the same shades of colour. Fiesta Red was one of the worst with at least 3 slightly different shades that I know of. Difficult for Mark to get them all absolutely exact. Then of course, good old stage lighting...................

Oh dear, another great gone. Not noticing until Jaco day doesn't help.
That's good, but can you stand about three inches to the left please..?
NO NO NO! 4 inches you untidy swine!!!! -
Well at best Mark, he only had a couple available pre built. With the amount of commissions he will have had little time to do anything else, and the pre built he had are all on here, bought by BC'ers. So guess at the moment he is just trying to keep up with commission builds
Buy some new cabs
Give over I've only had these 5 days. Just got them from Barrie's gaff. Two gigs in two nights and loving them Stupidly on Fri night I mentioned the slight overhang and the other three have ripped the piss at every opportunity, HOWEVER they love the punch these cabs have. -
I've got the Big Bang and it's been faultless so far and has a great set of tones if you need to tweak. I use mine racked now but the size and weight were fantastic - just fitted into my gig bag nicely. Have it driving two Traveller siries cabs (12" & 15") and the gain's at about 10 o'clock and master never above 12 o'clock. It'd be nice to be able to switch out the VLE/VPF without a footswitch but that's the only grumble I've had.
This is what confuses me with the Big Bang. 1. Are the VLE/VPF on all the time and only switched OFF by the footswitch, or, 2. Do you need the footswitch to put them on or off? I tried a Little Rocker on Thursday and the VLE/VPF could be dialled up, or down to zero without a footswitch. I really liked the sound with the VLE at about 9 0'clock, that really helped the amp, for me. What I really didn't like with the Little Rocker was that the volume was really very disappointing until you put the valvey gain thingy on. I am going to be putting my Carvin up for sale, as it overhangs the 2 Markbass cabs (thanks again Barrie ), by an inch either side . Sad, yes, but I can see that overhang even looking into the eyes of the beauty in the audience -
I don't really follow your description, but I'd guess it's attenuation in dB's, from zero (full on) to infinity (the 'double zero' - fully off)
Cheers barkin, infinity, 00, never twigged that I'm old, why couldn't they just write "off"
-
That would be the 00 bit then. I did last night's gig with them at noon position . Annoyingly rather liked the sound even though it was a crap gig. Will put them at 00 for tonight's gig, which thankfully I know will be a lot busier. Many thanks Lozz, hope you are ok Mr.

I've never knowingly used tweeters although I seem to remember a couple of cabs I have had, have had them. So, simple question from a thicko. My recently acquired Markbass 2 x 10's both have tweeters. Staring from the sort of 7 0'clock position on the tweeter dial, they are marked with a double zero, the left hand side signs going from 18 to 5. At the noon position they are marked -dB On the right hand side they are marked 3 at the sort of 1 0'clock position, down to 0 at the 5 o'clock position. Can somebody please advise me which position is off? Cheers in advance, Karl.

Crap. Pub that had stopped doing Friday night's started doing them again. Maximum of 20 people at best. First set nowt but problem's with one of guitarses pedals, and his response was to fiddle when he should have been soloing I spent much of the first set staring at my complicated amp wondering how to get the best out of my new (to me) Markbass cabs. Thankfully tonight is a gig where we know a lot of locals are coming to see us.
It doesn't matter where it was made, it has NO bearing on the quality... These are absolutely brilliant amps. MSL were generous enough to lend me one of these for a few weeks when the LM2 in my combo was in for repair after being fried by the dodgy wiring in a pub. To my ears it has a warmer tone than the LM2/3, and with a headphone socket and aux input it is so much more versatile. I am currently considering changing my setup and may use one of these, but not quite ready to do it yet! Good luck with your sale!
I am very interested in this. I make no comment about the quality. I asked simply because I am a magpie gear whore. I think the resale will be better for Italian than Indonesian. That would probably be important to me in a few months
