Carvin BX700 Bass Amp Overview - YouTube CARVIN BX700 & 4-10 CAB ... WOW !! | TalkBass.com OK, mine is pretty much sold, getting picked up tomorrow, but there are less well know alternatives to MB, TC etc. Only reason mine is getting sold is because I stack my new cabs horizontally and the head overhangs a couple of inches each side. Hey, each to their own And you will NEVER have volume issues, it has far more headroom than the Tone Hammer 500 I tried the other day.
2. I have had some questions regarding this neck. Warmoth make quality Fender spec necks. This is quartersawn with carbon strengthening rods, custom shop spec. Having played a few Custom Shop basses, the components and build on this bass are as good as any of the Custom Shop basses I've played. But I would say that wouldn't I The deep C profile is found on the Steve Harris, Sting and Mike Dirnt artist series Fenders, and some Custom Shop 50's basses. So the "deep C " profile is not exactly unheard of
3.
We have so many incredible British luthiers, Drew sees them as being unsung and undercredited (sites like Basschat & Talkbass being the exception) and wants to promote them to the wider bass playing audience. MBL is (GBBL will be also) a dealer for non-British brands (Sandberg, Tokai, G&L, Markbass, Gallien-Krueger, PJB) as new products and the pre-owned basses that come in will not be limited to just British builders. It'll be very similar to MBL as it exists now and Drew's customer service certainly won't change - it's just the focus is quality British stock and craftsmanship. Hope that clears things up a bit! Karlfer - I'm responsible for updating the MBL website, and I've just done the rebrand and website for The Great British Bass Lounge too. Everything on the site is usually as the stock is in the Bass Lounge. There are some basses that have been there for a while simply because they've not been sold yet. I do cock up every now and again and leave the odd one or two on by mistake but 99% of the time the website is an accurate representation of the Bass Lounge stock. Apologies if it appears otherwise. Feel free to message me if you'd like any more info. Cheers. Tom
Thanks for explaining that Tom. Certain other bass retailers have stuff on their site that is long gone. Whenever I go onto your site the first one I find is an Aria fretless from November last year, so I just assumed I was not finding the up to date site. So, if that's the case, I'd best think about reducing my La Cabronita so I can book time to come and try one of the Sterlings Good luck, I think I may be booking some time soon, and thanks again for explaining.
4.
Take your bass to a shop that has the Terror 500 & any of the other amps that you fancy & try them out. Try different cabs out whilst you're there.
Oh that it was that easy now
5.
The point when you stick something on hold for a month so someone (new basschatter) can get the last wee bit together .... And at end of month they eventually tell you they bought something else that cost twice as much type bump
So frustrating. Hope this goes for you soon, I understand from all the reviews I have read this is an amazing piece of kit. New, very expensive, because of components etc. Sadly I find an Orange Bass Terror technically terrifying GLWTS somebody will get very happy.
6. Wow, that USA P's a bit tidy Bump.
7.
I've been going round and round in circles with this, was TH500, then Tecamp Puma 500 Combo, then RH750 with 2x212 vertical. Now Orange Terror 500 but what cabs? it's driving me nuts! Bassman,Showman and Ashdown ABM 500 410 all going for service then sale in coming weeks then I'll take the leap! All opinions very much appreciated guys
And it still will be in 5 years time Pay scant regard to my comments in the other thread regarding the Tone Hammer. The more I think about it, the more I liked the sound. The perceived volume issue on my part could have been any number of things really. Too many owners tell me they are very powerful. I will very probably get one when my Carvin goes. So, watch out for an as new Tone Hammer for sale in 2 months
8. Congrats Lee, they are one that was on my wish list. The only thing that concerned me was I read somewhere (so I DON'T KNOW it to be true) that all Markbass Tube amps need to be sent off to have tubes replaced. IE, user can not replace them because they are soldered or something? Would be great if an owner could say this is cobblers. Then I could put one back on my thought list. Enjoy the amp, bet it's fab.
9. THAT is fabulous! I emailed Carvin and Mighty Mite on Saturday and neither have bothered to reply! Well done AER and lucky you

Traded

There are two of these fine basses up at what are very low prices compared to the cost of a new Vigier. It just baffles me that all the hype about these basses 15 years ago seems to have vanished. The basses haven't changed, and Roger Glover is no mug GLWTS, superb basses, well, certainly the two I've had the pleasure of playing over the years.
11. I've just gone on it and played the samples of the duo tones effects thingies. Bloody awful noises. Now I know why I don't use effects. Obviously my opinion, but I would hope a naysayer is allowed their opinion .

13.
Any More Trade offers
Sadly not from me Si, don't have any 5's and the bass I have up for sale isn't going anywhere quickly it appears. Somebody is going to get very lucky with the Vigier. Bump.
14. 4. Would really like another SEI as I am finally becoming settled in what works for me.
15.
She's a pretty one...shame you're not taking trades!
Yup. Cracking photography Tim, wish I could do that Top bloke to deal with peeps, GLWTS
16. I can only speak from my experience. The feeling I got in yesterday's conditions were that the particular TH 500 I was using through an Aguilar 1 x 12 was taking a lot of gain and master to get anywhere near gig volume. That concerned me more than enough to rethink.
17. I will certainly be much more tempted if he get's his website where it shows current stock. Every time I go on it I seem to come onto pages which list stock going back months and more. The appointment, one to one, is not really something that I am comfortable with, so to tempt me, it would be something specific I wanted to go and try. I can't suss what he has in stock at this moment. Good luck, I have heard great things.
18. Yup, correct pad used. All I can say is that the 2 Markbass cabs I'm now using have been a revelation live, compared to my B/F S12V. More punch, less boom but still thumping bottom end. Great clarity, especially going for the JPJ/ Bad Co sound. Yet growling on the Sheehan stuff. Early days but I like them. If only I could shave 3 inches off the width of the Carvin
19. If I can get my Cabronita sold.........................
20. He's not been online since Sept 9th, might be better if you PM him.
21. Tried a Tone Hammer 500 out in Electro Music Doncaster today. "Bass guys not in today, what sort of cab do you want?" "Well I use 2 Markbass 210's like that one" "OK, I'll plug this 112 in then cos I can get to it." He then handed me a Bass Collection LINED FRETLESS!!!!!!!! Could just have been the cab I ended up through but I had to drive the amp about 2 o'clock on gain and 3 o'clock on master to get any volume. And glares from the terrific member of staff who "helped" me So in conclusion; I left the shop with my foldy £580 still in my pocket. I won't be going back to Electro Music I've been put off the Tone Hammer because what I heard in there was NOTHING like as powerful as my Carvin, and on today's evidence it would struggle to keep up with the mic'ed drummer and two Blackstar half stack toting guitards.
22. Not one to argue with a gun toting Penguin called Lucifer Graham
23. Cheers Tom. Despite it's quality custom build, guess this is a bit out there for most, so I might just get a normal jazz neck and have done with it. The weight is exceptional and the sound is great (to me), just that C profile 44mm is a bit too much for short sausage fingers The lads with Sheehan Attitude Ltd's would very probably love the neck.
24.
I just moved house that i stripped back to the bricks with all associated costs, gigs have bought real boring stuff from Screwfix! Won't be long Dr Evil Bass is plotting and scheming for the Rig of Doom! I'll jump on the train south in the new year. Is Manchester any good for retailers? As in more than one/two shops?
Re Manchester, erm, no. PMT isn't bad but not a huge range. Drew at Manchester Bass Lounge has a great reputation, think it's appointment stuff. Worth contacting him. Newcastle USED to be good, but that's 20 years ago. Doncaster used to be, but again, long time ago.
25.
All posts very much appreciated guys I really value your opinions, leaves me with the original problem though I suppose. I'll have to sell what I'm selling and troop around the country with a bag of cash until a rig sings. May have to save longer and get the big boy Aguilar and cabs. Just tell the mrs I made them in the shed. Good luck with the Carvin sale Karl hope it's a swift successful sale! I'll be selling soon and the current buyers market doesn't fill me with confidence for the gear I'll shift.
One can but try Think the fun is in the trying. I'm lucky in that I have a gig money slush fund. Funny how it's always gone to pretty much zero by the back end of March each year
