2ND version of the El Dorado Gary, the 1st was the 2050 with an active circuit board. Simplified and back to passive on this one. Made from around mid 92/mid 95. The most famous version was a signature model for some geezer called Glenn Frey They are a touch rare! Very nice bass, bolt on, almost Precision style neck, not as much "top" as the 4000 series but a lovely almost Zepp 11 bottom end. Unlike most 3000's/ Hamburg's which have enough mass for their own gravitational field, at around 9lb this is light and comfortable. Unusual, nice and practical. I'm sure somebody like Rick's Fine '52 could tell more.

WITHDRAWN Fender Precision 62 RI CIJ in Fiesta Red £550.
karlfer replied to Pestie's topic in Basses For Sale
Amazed this is still here. Japanese Fenders are legendary quality, yet Fender Japan currently does not exist. Logic dictates then that they will probably get harder to find with a probable upsurge in price. So, a bloody good bass that is unlikely to depreciate much if an owner needs to move it on? Added to which Mike is an absolute legend to deal with. Somebody is going to get lucky! -
Mike was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Decisive, great comms very swift payment. Fully recommended, deal with complete confidence. Thanks for everything Mike and enjoy the jazz, cheers, Karl.

SOLD 1972 Fender Precision bass price drop and added pics
karlfer replied to paul j h's topic in Basses For Sale
As ever with old Precisions, it might really help your sale if you strip it down and take good close ups of neck heel, neck pocket, pots, back of scratch plate, bottom of pick ups. Just trying to be helpful. £1600 is not a huge amount for a bass of this kind BUT it's a lot of money for most folk to find so they will most likely want to be as sure as they can be. GLWTS -
Glad to see this thread is doing well! Question for guys who own Rics with the toaster/horseshoe pickups (V63, C64, CS sig, C64S macca sig) - is your horseshoe pickup cover magnetic? I'm asking as my 4003s has this pup configuration and the horsey cover IS magnetic - but I know this is pretty unusual and can't find out any info as to why mine is...
I didn't know they did a 4003s with horse shoe so it may be a later modification by a previous owner? I do think they are magnetic, as unlike the "normal" bridge cover the horse shoe wrap around is metal. Both the above comments are guesses, might be worth having a look on RickResource?

Cheers Mr. Valdemar, splendid bass indeed and reluctant sale, but I just can't miss the chance I've been given. Had a couple of clever dickies on FB have a pop at the price "for a Mex". I know we don't talk price, but it's out at the same or a bit less than the last couple of RW's have been out at, and it does include a hard case. When I sell something to fund the next "I've always wanted one of them" I always try to put it at a price fair to buyer AND seller. They are over £1100 new now, with a gigbag, and used ones rarely hang around more than a few days. I will miss it, but watch out for a NBD next week .

Morning all. I thought I had all the basses I would ever need, none to be sold. WRONG AGAIN I have the chance of something rare and special. This is the only bass I have much chance of replacing second hand, so sacrifice it I must! I hope 4candles won't mind me using his original advert (linked). I THINK, if you double click over the photos, it opens up on Photobucket, and you can zoom them there. Well, it does for me. These are currently costing £1100 new, with gigbag. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 It also includes the spec of this bass. It's relatively light at just under 9lbs. I'm including a tatty but usable Hiscox hard case at no extra cost. There is a feedback link at bottom of this post. I would obviously prefer to meet up (free of charge) between say Penrith, Leeds and Brum. However insured courier delivery, mainland UK, will be an extra £30. Sorry, but no PAINPal. Sorry, but no trades. Any questions, or trial in Wigan. I always think I've been complimented if I get through a gig without being bottled. Somebody once said to me "everybody has the right to be ugly, but you abuse it"
