1. Really sorry this didn't work out for you Mike. My old bass and gutted I don't have the readies to buy it back. BUT, as Fagin might say "I am reviewing the situation" A slightly reluctant good luck regardless.
2. Sod it, PM incoming
3. Might be an idea if you answered questions members have put on here. The main one being would you consider trades.
4.
Good lord, looks lovely. Looks a great bass, Mr EAD is great to deal with, good luck but this should fly.
Seconded, two great jazzes Alain's got up now. Evil he is
5. Not tried anything yet and won't be doing so until the middle of next week. This is due to impending royal visit of my 83 year old mother. And this 57 year old having a few days of being treated like a 5 year old. Don't do that! What would your father say! You're not going to a gig dressed like that! A R***enbacker for a Led Zeppelin number???? My cup runneth over
6. Many thanks guys. A few years back, I had a Mex Precision Bass Special, Deluxe Series. They were only made 1999-2002, their predecessor was the California, their successor the current active Mex Deluxe. These basses are P/J pups, Jazz neck, Precision body, passive. Few who have had them dislike them. Stupidly I sold mine and I've only seen a couple come up over the last two years, both on FEEBay, at daft(£600 ish) prices. Anyhoo, managed to snag a black/maple/gold one on FEEBay last week, at a slightly more reasonable price. Turned up and it's a bit of a filthy, life evolving in parts, beater. It's obviously had a LOT of play, but it's light, sounds fantastic and is very versatile. Most of the sorting, I know how to do, in the main part because of brilliant guys like you lot, on Basschat, offering advice. The rust on pole pieces, I didn't know and was kinda thinking out loud with the cotton buds and wd40. My thanks (yet again) to the Basschat massive
7. Thanks guys. I don't have a Dremmel, is there an accessory that can be used on a normal cordless drill, at very slow speed?
8. Precision bass special, deluxe series 2002, one of the last passives made. P/J pups, both with rust on pole pieces. Doing one's nut in! I'm thinking cotton buds, with wd40 sprayed on them , so I can apply where I want, not over the whole bloody bass (DIY = Destroy It Yourself). Am I certifiable or might it work? Answers thanked for in advance Cheers, Karl.
9.
If it helps Karl, I could sell it to you in parts. A bit like one of those De Agostini magazines. Week 1- the body Week 2- Control knobs Week 52- the neck
10. STOP torturing me you swine I've put something up for sale but it will take time you know. By that time, obviously this will be long gone
11. Lovely bass. With respect, there have been 2 direct requests for accurate weight, in 14 months. Quite a few others (myself included) will have thought the same, but not asked, expecting a weight to appear. I would guess a female relative/friend would have some luggage scales. Alternatively, £5.50, delivered, on FEEBay. Might also help your cause if you gave an idea on any trade bait, if you are still inclined to look at trades. GLWTS, bump.
12. Great looking bass. Although you apparently aren't saying no, are you interested in trades, and if so, what in particular. A published weight also helps some of the older members with their decision making GLWTS
13. Jon, you need to develop a Bull-sh*t-Ometer emoticon for use in your unfailingly accurate critiques. Then I can get a Chinese factory to do cheap knock off for me
14. Having gigged my Sterling on Sat night, I've decided to put something else up for sale instead The fretless idea isn't going to work for me unfortunately as I would end up keeping the original neck, to keep it erm, original, thus costing me more to buy an extra neck and ultimately losing me more on both bass and replacement neck. Will see what happens after next Sat's viewing. Thanks though Gareth and good luck, cheers, Karl.
15. Gorgeous, 'av a bump
16. Fender prices are not helped by the fact none of them are made in Europe. Expensive shipping costs, import duties, both have an effect. All the Fender slagging off, well, each to their own OPINION, but for a long time now, I only actually gig Mex Fenders. Properly set up, well made in the 1st instance. Perhaps I got lucky. Despite all the basses/brands I've tried, pretty much every week at gigs, 1st choice is my Mex P/J FSR. So. They ain't all rubbish. FACT (imo ).
17. Lovely. Fairly sure the date is in the neck pocket on these models. Might be an idea to let folk know where it can be collected from, and a statement re trades might not go amiss. Lovely bass, GLWTS
18. In the unlikely event it doesn't pan out, put me in the queue please Gareth. Good luck though.
19. See, that's what I thought you said. Don't confuse an old git Nick Pity mind, that is sensational, ESPECIALLY with the tortie GLWTS
20. What trades you looking for Nick?
21. How on earth did I miss this originally . Might just have to put my MM Sterling up to try and get this. What a great looking bass
22. Lovely looking bass Alex. Would you care to share roughly where she resides?
23. I'd fire your proof reader for maple board and 1.4kg. Lovely looker though
24. Was Dusty looking for one of these couple of weeks back? I may be wrong, but perhaps worth a pm?
