1.
Surprised to see these. I tried them up at Bass Gear and they are brilliant. I just opted for the S112s. Absolute ridiculous price too. Cracking bit of kit for someone. GLWTS but i dont think you'll need it
Cheers. Long been after a used Barefaced as it's 1 x 4 less trips per night, and the BF I had was a great compromise. Whilst even at my age, I can carry both of these cabs at the same time, I don't. Too many bloody doors at the gigs I do.
You get worse Karl .
Correct Rich
 2. POSSIBLE trade ideas; Both cabs for post 2013 US Precision or Jazz. One cab for Markbass TTE 500 So that's the kind of thing I'm looking for, just to give folk an idea. CASH is obviously king though Willing to meet up between Carlisle/Stafford/Leeds at no extra cost Specifications; http://www.bassgear....gineering-1126/ Light at 16kgs. Powerful, oh yes One cab has tweeter, so new would be £804 One cab doesn't, so new would be £729 Both cabs have vertical option and TKS covers. Both new with this spec would be £1533 I got them a few weeks back, from Mcnach, for £800, a bargain. Superb condition. A bit of paint missing on one handle. Cash sale, £800 for both or £425 each. Only reason for sale is I've finally managed to get my favoured 1 cab solution, a Barefaced Super 12. If these don't go in a couple of weeks, I will need to consider selling that as I can't afford to keep all three . ONE of these cabs would be a good match with the Orange Bass Terror, with it's 4/8 ohm switch. Plenty of comments on TKS in the GEAR forum, Amps and Cabs Section. Any trial in Wigan. Feedback at bottom of post. Delighted to answer any questions. Cheers, Karl. 4. And another example of the splendid young Tim bobs work, cheers again fella (I won't show the TRC for obvious reasons!)
 5. Dear God, that Blue Umbo Ahem, focus. Don't suppose you are heading north in the near future? Very tempted by the TTE.
 6.
Lusting after a Hellwood but with a wenge neck (just love the feel of them) and purpleheart instead of padouk...
That's the one I keep going back to lust at. A passive one like that Sadly, can't be arsed to sell another bass, I'm drained
 7. For what it's worth Marc, I think it's the FEEL of the metal plate that gets folk a bit twitchy. Kind of subconscious "not used to this, something is wrong". But you do quickly get used to it.
 8.
You might get some questions such, as how much is the reserve? You might also get some chancers asking how much to end it early. If you've set a reserve then stick to it. Also make sure you've set your shipping terms IE no shipping overseas. You can also restrict bids to people with no feed back or negative feedback. Worth looking at these if you weren't aware?
I'm one of those chancers . I only use FEEBay to advertise stuff. I STATE QUITE CLEARLY on the advert, that the item is advertised elsewhere at a considerably lower price. I then wait for the emails enquiries to come in. Lets say I wanted to clear £800 plus £30 (insured courier) on an item. It would be advertised here at £830 including insured UK courier. As PAINPal and FEEBay between them would charge me 13.4% (including COURIER costs) that would be £111 So, I would actually clear £719 on FEEBay. To clear £830, I would need to put it on FEEBay at £955 inc UK delivery (£955 x 13.4% = £128, £955 - £128 = £827). THAT is why so many basses are now stupid expensive on FEEBay. And yes, you MUST offer PAINPal. There is a seperate, pinned post in Basses for sale on that particular joy.
 9. Another fabulous bass. Another fabulous advert. I know I can't sell two of my reserve basses in time to buy this. So I'm not going to be the lucky one Good luck Si, won't take long that 'un.
 10. Just done a deal with Chris in a dodgy, VERY windy service station Yet another of the Basschat lovely bloke brigade (with long suffering other half in tow). The bass was in super condition, a credit to him. Very easy deal, Chris is fully recommended, a pleasure Mr .
 11.
But I know plenty of bass players who aren't... and don't/can't do their own set-ups so I'm not sure on the shops around here.
So, You accept it. Shops accept it. Difficult to relate how many lost sales that has cost. The shops loss perhaps?
 12.
Often wondered on this - it takes me some 15 - 30 mins to get a bass with good action and playability. Why then do music shops not spend that time, as I`m sure many people try out instruments and don`t buy them thinking they`re crap, rather than just in need of a decent tweak.
Amen to that Lozz. I'm sure most shops would say it's down to cost. There again, how often do you go in a music shop and see 3 or 4 staff just standing round banging their gums? Bit of good training? Better use of staff in slower spells? Doesn't seem impossible to me
 13.
That's the problem though isn't it. One in a shop can be amazing, the other 25 in the same shop appalling.
Not my experience. Perhaps I'll go to PMT or somewhere and try 26 Sadly few shops actually set up basses properly anyway.
 14.
Oh bugger, that massively rules me out, then - only two Precisions and two Jazzes here! Mind you, the MIJ Jazz I had was a lovely and special thing - only sold it cos I decided to move 100% to 5 string playing. But anyway, yes, I agree, it never ceases to amaze me how many people are happy to bash bass brands that they've never owned. Actually, it goes for all sorts of other things, too. For example, I've noticed that there are quite a few folks on BC who like to bash Apple, and loudly boast that they have never owned an Apple product in their lives and never will. I mean, WTF?!

I'm right in the ball park for ACGs then .....unless that is you don't mean either 47 or 214.
Ahh chaps, so good to see gentle piss taking alive and well on BC Only Fender (there's been a few ) I've ever been massively disappointed in was an Aerodyne jazz. Top edge designed by Torquemedes and absolutely awful weak pups
 15.
I came back to your thread here Karl, as it is being sold an another Facebook group (not the one you commented on) by the person who you call the original seller, so one bass, two different sellers (albeit the same surname). Steve
Yup, it's frying my brain Steve
 16.
Fair point, and obviously expressed with a bit of tongue-in-cheek hyperbole, but just out of interest, in your opinion how many Fenders (or basses by any manufacturer) would someone actually need to have owned in order to be qualified to offer a useful opinion about them?
47, 214 per manufacturer
 17. Splendid advert that man I keep looking at this on Facebook, and trying to justify buying it. I can't . It's a great amp at a great price but annoyingly I just don't need it. Somebody is going to get happy
 18. Thanks lads. As I understand it, there were; 62 US RI's 62 Japan RI's 62 Custom Shop RI's. But NOT a specific, official 62 MEX RI. So, it's being advertised as something it isn't imo. I know these were a FSR, a few have sold on here, EXACTLY the same model, the Classic 60'S Series FSR, at between £450/£550. I think the current seller paid £795 for it after seeing 62 RI in the ad (on Facebook). Buyer beware, yes, I know, but it just leaves a bit of a hollow feeling, seeing somebody that (imo) has been a little misled. The guy selling it bought it from a member from here. The member paid about £500 for it, on here a few months back. It's not the 1st time that member has pulled off something like this. Just not my kind of behaviour hence my "fabrication" in my original post. I don't know why I get worked up about this sort of thing, but it just "doesn't seem cricket" to me . Cheers, Karl.
 19.
So I've decided that a Stingray 4-string is the first bass for me (not Sterling etc. - the real deal), but I'm in need of some advice about the differences of 2 or 3 eq? I believe there's an argument for each?
Think you might find the original US Sterling (still made) with it's 3 band EQ, pick up coils selector and slimmer profile neck is a bit "the real deal". More than welcome to try mine if you are close enough to Wigan. 20. Never ceases to amaze me the amount of Fender bashing by those who have obviously played every single one made
 21. Justify my gear? What week is this? Ooops, just noticed only 2 of my 5 current basses are listed
 22. Yes Alain, looks like it's just gone on in the last day or so. Psst, wanna buy a damp flannel John
 23.
Hi Karl, That looks an interesting one! I have just dug out the Fender Frontline brochures from 2002 and 2003 and there is a '60s Jazz Bass shown but no specific mention of '62. However, it states it was only available in Sunburst, Olympic White and Black and all came with a tort pickguard. There is certainly no mention of Burgundy Mist, white pickguard and matching headstock! I wonder if it was a special run? It certainly looks a nice find!
Yes David. FSR, and what Daniel said (below).
Yes, they were a FSR but were available for quite some time. I very nearly bought a BM Jazzmaster at the time, great colour
Thanks Daniel
Just let me know what said that about you Karl and I'll have a little word in his shell-like (with my baseball bat). Shame about the dings on the neck though.
Alain, you should be congratulating him on his astuteness OK, many of us have had fleeting conversations with the guy in question, as he often pops up on sale threads here, with the comment "trades?". The "debate" that brought about my question was on a facebook sales thread. One bloke is currently selling one of these at £795. I think HE bought it recently, at £795, off the guy I was having the debate with. I think the CURRENT seller started to be a touch concerned about the advert he had bought it from. BOTH of these blokes appear to have the same surname, which complicates it. The guy who I was having the debate with, well, I'm fairly sure he bought it off here at around £500, then sold it on Facebook to the CURRENT seller at £795. Quite within his rights of course. HOWEVER, the guy NOW selling it was advertising it as a 62 RI. I commented that I was fairly sure it was in fact a Classic 60's series FSR Mex, and as far as I was aware, the 62 RI had strap button on back of headstock and earthing strip. Then the original seller jumped in, put me in my place with some lovely internet sarcasm. I deleted my comments as I didn't want to screw up the CURRENT sellers advert. So, if you followed that lot, your honorary PHD is in the mail
 24. Thanks gents, really appreciated. I might not be quite as dimwitted and opinionated as somebody thinks
