  1. Presumably the thumb rest with additional screw hole it requires added after the top picture was taken?
  2. A while back I was in the hunt for a 5 string HH Musicman bass (a good friend has a 5 string Stingray HH) but I ended up buying a 5 string Ken Taylor like this because I think it sounded nicer and it is REALLY well built. This is a bargain waiting to happen.
  3. Text details barely visible in dark mode on my phone. Photos ok
  4. Re your Instagram commentary; I wish I could mess up and be as ham fisted as that!
  5. Hi Matteo Did this sell in the end? Cheers Mick
  6. Fender costing less than Squier Classic Vibes. What's going on?!
  7. Now on eBay starting at £300, no reserve. Listing ends in 24 hours
  8. I've decided to move on this Hofner Ignition Club Bass in excellent condition. Has a decent range of sounds, in particular a nice thump that only seems to come from semi hollow/semi-acoustic instruments. Currently strung with round wounds. By my bathroom scales it weighs 2.6 kg. The only blemishes I can find are two small chips/imperfections in the binding at the back (probably there from new) and one tiny dent that is just visible in the last pictured close up of the back. The front has a couple of barely noticeable indentations that don't come out in photos and do not go through the finish. I'll post for £20 but would prefer collection or a meet up within a reasonable distance from Tunbridge Wells.
  9. Chowny SWB-1 with EMG 2 band active circuit with internally switchable (via microswitch) control to change treble settings. This is an older version of the bass in a colour that is no longer available. I upgraded the pickups to the latest Chowny X versions as the previous ones were a bit underpowered IMO. Scale length is 30.5" and weight by my bathroom scales is about 8lb (3.6kg). It's in very good condition although there are a very small number of minor blemishes. I've highlighted the most noticeable (2 hairline cracks in the finish on the back - 1 by lower horn, 1 near control cover; and a tiny ding going through the top layer of paint above the rear pickup). I'll pack securely and ship at buyers expense or meet up within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells in a socially distanced complaint way.
  10. The white plate fits but I took photos of it overlaying the tortoiseshell one just so you get an idea of how it looks. I'd consider trades although I am trying to cull the herd ...
  11. 5 string passive jazz bass I bought from Rondo Music in the USA about 12 years ago for my son but he didn't take to it so has hardly been played. In very good condition with minor swirling and a couple of very fine scratches on the rear of body, nothing through to the wood. Headstock has a couple of light surface scrapes from a grazing low ceiling. Neck varnished in a vintagey tint. Includes the original white 3 ply pick guard and a tortoise shell one I bought later which doesn't quite fit over the pickup lugs but I think would align with some sanding/filing. Scale length is 34 inches, weight using the plausible but not forensically accurate bathroom scales available is 4.2 Kg (9 1/4 LBs), string spacing is 16.25 mm. Presumably a local socially distanced handover might be feasible if for exercise purposes (?), otherwise the buyer can arrange for a courier. There's no gig bag or case but I would package it well.
  12. Bought this for a project now sadly defunct where I wanted to fill out the sound with some chords when the lone guitarist in the band dropped (or do I mean launched?) into a solo. The Bigsby tremolo is great fun for a bass player (albeit to be used sparingly IMHO). I tune it as a 6 string bass so E-E one octave below guitar but in this demo by GAK its tuned B-B: Condition is as new except for a minute chip in the binding/top that I can hardly notice (see photo with 5 p coin for scale). Dimensions are listed on this old Anderton's page: https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/electric-guitars/alternative-body-guitars-old/gretsch-g5265-jet-baritone-in-black-sparkle. There's no case or gig bag so I'd prefer a socially distanced collection or meet up within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells, although I might be persuaded to courier if the buyer organises collection and insurance.
  13. Bit late to this particular party but I got a quote to send a neck through (hence "oversized") bass to USA by UPS and it came in at just under £100. I don't think that includes insurance but last time I looked into it couriers sell you insurance which actually excludes musical instruments in the fine print.
  14. If you arrange and pay for the shipping and insurance, and take the risk that's ok. I'll pack it securely but my liability ends once it's been picked up
  15. Hi Andy No apologies required for me. My mother in law's scales make me nearly a stone lighter than I am so I know how variable they can be. I don't think it's at all heavy but I was attracted by the originally advertised super skinny weight so I don't think it's the one for me. GLWTS!
  16. Spacing is 16.75mm, action is pretty low already and could probably go lower although I'm happy with it the way it is
  17. Price drop - £400 Had this for a long time but had little opportunity to use it in the bands I've played in over the years so its pretty much as I bought it (sometime in the 90s?) apart from the addition of lined frets. A trawl of the internet provides some additional information about provenance and construction that I believe to be correct. Mazeti basses were manufactured in Korea in the 1990's. The body and neck are mainly walnut and maple, with solid walnut wings and with maple and mahogany through neck and ebony fretboard. The black hardware seems to be of decent quality. Controls are active/passive switch (currently working as a kill switch - see below), volume and tone controls, and 3 band active tone control. It's a 35 inch scale, currently strung with round wounds. My bathroom scales are not very precise but on the basis of weighing with and without holding the bass I'd say it weighs between 8 and 9 pounds. Condition is excellent. Only defects/blemishes are a slight dent below neck pickup as indicated by my finger in one photo, and the battery powering the preamp runs down even when unplugged. I suspect the latter requires a minor fix to the jack socket? The price reflects the likely cost of getting that fixed. When I've played around on it I've been perfectly happy with the passive sound so had no incentive to fix it. There's no case or gig bag but I can package it up robustly if the buyer organises collection and insurance. Alternatively a socially distanced pickup or meet up within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells could be arranged.
  18. I bought this Stagg EUB some years ago on a whim and hardly ever used it. It's been kept in a gig bag in a cool, dry, smoke free environment. Electrics work fine although I haven't tried the MP3 input. The only blemishes I can find are a few small marks on the head where it caught against a ceiling, and a crack in the paint/lacquer (see photo featuring my finger) that has been there since I bought it. It is alongside the top of the joint between the neck and body, has not changed over the years, and the neck /body joint appears completely stable. Gig bag is in very good condition. I'll also include a DVD and lesson book of Jazz Upright Bass by Ed Friedland. Collection or meet up within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells only I'm afraid as I wouldn't trust a courier with this due to its length and absence of hard packaging.
  19. My son is getting married in Sep 2020 and is looking for a band to play at the wedding. About 120 guests and venue size to match. Location is somewhere near Suffolk and Cambridgeshire border I believe. He and his beloved are about 30 and whilst they don't mind some of the music their parents like they also want things that are much more contemporary and resonant with their generation. They are looking for a really good quality outfit (that's one reason my band were excluded). I thought I'd try an ad here as well as just searching web. If you are interested then please send details such as set list, line up, links to live footage, cost. Cheers, Mick
  20. I'm advertising this on behalf of a friend, who is a guitarist (but he means well), and hence not on this forum. Ampeg BA-115 bass combo & padded dust cover, excellent condition, used twice - bought as house backline for small venue but turns out to be more than required. Original cost £320 + £45 for the cover, selling both for £250. Location: Tunbridge Wells. Shipping possible at buyer's expense but collection or meet up preferred.
  21. KSDs are great basses and with the jretro this is a steal. If I didn't have already the 60s version of this I'd bite your hand off!
