2. Experienced this last night, My cab has started farting at normal volume a little and probably is close to retirement after a very hard life., We are very lucky and get to use professional engineers and pa, and instead of pushing the ashdown, we just put bass thru the monitors on stage, (ok they are NEXO), wow,,great sound and experienced it as" in" the mix, not only this but it was consistent across the stage, and the whole band felt this was a great improvement..there will always be times when I need a bass rig, but after last nights discussion with the engineer, for all the big shows, just planning on taking a DI box...
3. gosh, agree with Bilbo!... guessing this happens quite a lot and wondered how I would feel. personally would give the guy the heads up that your aware its not you on the recording, however, you want his project to be the best it can be, and if it was felt parts needed redoing your cool with it,, and your friendship is stong enough to deal with this sort of thing.
4. In all fairness, Geddy had stage props, where this will be a functional cab,,its only a bit of daft init,,
5. ha, not it a RUSH, to get it finished, hopefully has a dry sound....

15. Awesome,, was a little worried bout the Isle of Wight ferries, but couldn't have been easier, heres a pic from Shanklin Theatre .
16. Even stranger,, if you can find a "Straight" ents manager he has to "Camp up", find this very strange,, no disrespect in any fashion but is Gay now code for safe to work with children?,
17. Tis now fairly standard to play along side a click track and have at least some arrangement, even if its basic harmonies, keys going to front of house. it is really easy to do these days, especially if the drummer has a sample pad and just fires off the track,, with a very basic set up he can keep the click and send the track to the desk, and personally find that it can really add to the song...
18. Hiya fella, loads of experience of this sort of thing,, are they Havens? last year did all 32 of their camps twice!,,just kept going anti-clockwise round the coast..plus lots of other sites as well,, not so many this year, pleased for the change TBH, difficulty is the rooms are full of families, and the acts are seldom advertised properly, the rooms are going to be full regardless, standard kind of set up is costume show, then some family fun games, and then the act (grown up time),,trouble we have found is that if you don't continue to entertain the kids, they drift off taking mum and dad with them. best thing is the obvious, keep it up tempo and songs they can dance too..also bear in mind especially haven camps the ents manager has to fill in a feed-back form on the evening,, with questions such as did the entertainment start on time/ did the band keep the audience in etc, and the rooms open so early that set up if you want a soundcheck can be around 4pm..which makes it a long night...accommodation can also be tricky as the camps have to book out every available caravan, which means you can be on a long journey with no-where to stay,,saying all this, many of the rooms are huge and can expect to play to large audiences, often with a decent pa,,(although not always - we always took an engineer)..found holiday camps can be very rewarding, financially and playing wise, once you get the hang of them,, not for everyone tho..give us a shout if can help with anything.

Badge whore

I think this is pretty interesting, and of course its not just musicians that are guilty of such things, certain brands seem to be "Holy" especially Harley Davidson, who make some very old fashioned agricultural machines, but with a massive loyal fan base, guess we pay extra for how certain things make us feel, which may be foolish, but hey it happens. other brand like Jack Daniels and Ferrari also inspire such feelings, weird init.
21. All the above , however till you get all that sorted etc...find someone with Microsoft office products,, knock up a poster in "Powerpoint" put it on a flashdrive / SD Card or whatever,,, nip down to the local print shop,, depending on the quality of the paper and size, usually only 7 to 20p a copy and you can have something that does the job,,
22. Shameless plug,,,,, will be in Aberystwth in August. Booked for the Big Tribute Festival...
