1. As youve not much time to get sorted,,, top tip...... Temporary fret markers,,, black electritians tape with a dab of tippex on the top (your side) of the neck.. Cos the distance between fret spacing is so much different,,,,,,,no one will see and can easily be removed once ya feel you have mastered it.. but sure will help get you through your first gigs...
2. Have I missed Spirit in the Sky ?? Always a dance floor stormer.....Played a lovely club near nottingham at the weekend an this is the one which filled the floor,,even funnier for me cos the Medics Bass Player had come to watch us play!

4.
Yup, good choice. I've played that song to death over the years, some cracking little runs and fills - and complete with the token one slapped note! Dave Navarro played on it too. Another song with a fun bassline yet a naff(ish) song is Just A Girl, by No Doubt - who in a rather nice segue, supported the Chilis when I first saw them in '96. ("Fascinating", i hear you all say!! )
+1 on just a girl,, seems to get covered around here a lot , an the joint riff between guitar an bass is a joy when ya get it right.. Used to real enjoy playing Twisted by Skunk Anansie,,, took a while too get right so no-one could appreciatte it lol!!
5. Ok Ok,, feel free to take the michael,,,,,,youve probably heard this all before...... I bought a 1920 Blonde a few years ago (dead chuffed went an told a couple of real good players etc ) Guy says to me,,,,, aye we use strimmer wire!! convinced I was the but of newbie jokes I laughed this one off,,,, I believe the guy out of the Hicksville Bombers sells them ,,, all different colours etc... Shows what I think I know,,,, its the way to go apparently!!!!!
6. Never tried a Tour head,,,,,,,, probably beacause my 700w Firebass just keeps going! Can get these for pennies,,, I know everyone wants the holy grail of ultra lightweight an power etc,,,, but,,buy a Peavey,,,, You know it makes sense....

13.
Nice call,,, Er didnt get it from me ,,,, But drinks in my old singists pub,,, the {removed by Dood in reference to posts} ....SSSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Just for clarification,,,,,, Mr Deacon ,,, lol not opener of thread...bless ya all...
14. Heck ,, is there a thread for everything on ere or what!...lol,,, love this forum... : Usually raid the poundshop (two for a quid) and change them real regular,, never had issues ,,,ever.. Unless a certain pro touring band happen to lose a few procell in my direction...well,,,,, ya just have too.....
15. looks like him to me!!! or a real funny looking spot,,,,
16. Dudes,,, Not strictly the axe in question.. My main stage bass for the last 3 yrs has been an SRX705,,,, everyone seems to love it from studio to stage.. I guess the finish may be the same and if so mine has been extremely hard wearing,, not even a scratch,,no buckle rash, dents or anything..it really is as new,,, considering the number of gigs (least 6 a month) an rehearsals once a week think its been brilliant,, The chrome different matter,,, mine was tarnished from the shop! use seems to quickly banish it tho,,, but affects the bridge and the knobs.. also its very heavy,,,,, well balanced tho,,, but a real heavy bass. Re the bridge, mine looks the same as the one in the photo an there are two ways to string it ! there are slots in the base of the bridge which can be used ..but as in the photo should be really hooked in the back... never had a problem with it or intonation..to be honest have never been afraid to spend money too get good gear,,,, an really didnt fall in love with the look ,,, but this is the one which earns the money... (IMHO) hope it helps.. (never had a bad ibanez,,, early Musician was great,,, later cheap model the engineers loved,, an this one is the fave of everyone I play with...must be a lincolnshire thing,,, cos guitarists round ere have the same opinion of the brand..)
17.
Incidentally I think the body's are "laminated" when you are selling and "plywood" when you are buying ....
Good Call,,,,,,,,, My old Double Bass was def sold as laminated lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
18. Advice taken,,,, Actually after cleaning and fettling I agree,,,,, Managed to sort the original issues with this bass,, the original neck is a really great profile.. Short of a couple of new knobs its now cleaned and restored to its original condition... Will try get some pics up,,, Cheers guys.
19. Cheers for that Paul,,,,, Tis indeed a ply body,,an after looking at some simply great basses for £100 this last weekend am not going to go mad on this one,,(Really dont need another Bass) However, Tis a nice old thing,,, and just missed a neck on Ebay... Will keep you posted...
20. Hi Gang,,, Ok so I needed a P Bass for a project,,,, need to look very retro,,My Ibanez and Warwick not really looking the part.. Bought a cheap Squier 5 String MII,,and all is cool,,, then (danger brainstorm alert) got around to thinking about that old P bass copy that I lent to a mate years ago,, an old Honher Arbour Series Fretless,,,, Now I bought this about 10 years ago, with a major bent neck an only 3 strings on it for a tenner,,and once I recovered it from said mate Ive now stripped it down to its components an have given it a major clean up... In my inexperienced, wild plan ,I was going to sit in front of google and order a nice neck for it,, maple perhaps,, have some LEDs maybe,, rebuild and have a nice retro bass to use on stage,,,, I could brag Id put together myself,,and even laff about how much money Id spent on gear over all these years,, when in a corner of the music room Id had my soulmate bass all along.... Then,,,,,,,,, sodding heck,,,, went on Allparts and HOW MUCH,,,, I could get a new bass for that!! So please help a poor foolish Bassist,,,,,,Is it possible to obtain a fretted neck for this for at a reasonable sum?? an return this sad old bass to gigworthy playability???? Any advice appreciated,,,,,, Cheers
21. Good call,,, Just discussed this with our keyboard player,, I was always impressed with playing bass on left hand and melody etc on right hand,,,,,,, He claims,,, apart from obvious boogie woogie an RnR left hand he plays bass notes rather that bass lines,,, modest person lol,,, cos know thats not really true..... Always impressed with a good keyboard players left hand....an he can put me to shame whilst playing melody lines on top.. Love some recent chart hits which have vamped bass parts with horn sections.. The subcontious part of bass is the awesome bit,,,,they aint listening to to the bass part,,, but thats sure as hell what they are dancin too....which is why when on form,,,, everyone has a good night,,,,, an also why ya can get away with murder when played badly,,,, cos they not really listening.....comments????
22. Hi Gang,,,, Have heard OLP mentioned a few times on here,,, I know where there is a brand new Tony Levin Sig for just a tab over £200,,, havent plugged it in ,,,but seems to play really well.. Should I snap this one up?????
23. Saw the Bites support Robert Plant at Sheffield City Hall,,, an was really impressed,,,, 88? Wherever he is wish him well,,, did hear through a fan he was involved still with Ray Davies...
