1. That's looks GREAT,, and must say having owned and had my hands on many many Ibanez over the years, not found a bad one yet...
2. Unsure if its because I am naturally left handed playing right handed,, but noticed that I do use my left hand a lot for muting...

4. Hey Gang, Realise that the old DI v Amp debate is discussed many times on here, however for the very quick in out shows we sometimes do, and blessed with using very good monitoring have been looking to ditch the amp altogether,, have been looking for the Sansamp etc, and heard nothing but good things, but surprisingly the engineer on the tour said he had seen one of these behringers used and liked the sound, its basically a tube pre amp, with DI out, and our idea was to use this purely as a DI box, Two shows later (Cardiff St Davids Hall, and Llanelli Ffyes theatre), and what a superb move, all I am taking on stage is a bass and pedal board, sounds massive, very chuffed, total cost new delivered £34. just thought would share this experience, only downside suppose is have no control over on stage volume when playing, although the beauty is have convinced the guitarist to work the same way, (no amp, just monitor), and we never change stage volume anyway, so just getting a great mix...engineer is very happy saying getting the warmth in the bass sound which is sometimes robbed with a digital desk.... happy daze.
5. Found this as well,, another Fender Strike,, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87-A65rifwc
6. Last Friday during a routine on stage bass change, something unusual happened,, unsure if the strap got caught, or sheer adrenalin played its card,, but when taking off my P Bass, decided to strike myself in the face with it, and nearly knocked myself out,,, Oh everyone had a right laugh while blood was streaming down my face, and the world went very blurry for about 5 minutes, (Lovely black eye now!),,which leads me to my question,,is a P bass the right tool for the job?,, methinks the more contoured body of say a Jazz or a Streamer would have had less impact,,or maybe a bass wood body may have done less damage,,(you have to take these things into consideration!),,,anyone else injured themselves while playing??????,, and what's the most dangerous Bass for it!!.........
7.
Last night's gig was at the Auf Wiedersehen Pet 30th Anniversary celebration at The Hilton in Gateshead. If - like me - you're a lifelong fan of the show, you know how good the songs are.. and I got to play 'em. :-) It was a big room, 450-ish people, with a lovely PA. I only needed to take a single TKS 112 cab. It filled the stage nicely, and the PA did the rest.
looks like he DI and miked you up,,, proper..
8. that's like saying anyone with dedication and practise can play golf like Tiger Woods,, or play guitar like bonamassa,, sadly we all have limits,, which used to be interesting!!,,none of my fav singers for example would get no-where on X-Factor,, "Sorry mr jagger you just cant sing",,,,not exactly right is it!
9. that's pretty cool wateroftyne,,, we drove from Scunthorpe to Edinburgh, played the Playhouse and drove all the way back,, some bright spark shut the A1 at Berwick and suffered a bloody de tour,,have never been so happy to see Newcastle, almost felt like we were nearly home.
10. Its really satisfying to know how everything works, and opens many doors for you also. even as just a hobby, sound engineering is great.
11. Dandelion,, pretty interested in this, also I have a 2x10 ashdown,, and based in scunny... if interested in a deal send us a pm... toddy.
12. Last two night have been up in Berwick,, filming "Chubbys" New DVD,, must say, having Universal and their film crew with us for two days was pretty cool,, Catering, Make up ladies, Crew etc...Two sell out shows for the big man tho, and as always we were very well looked after, even found a really cool music shop in Berwick with its own Café and chill out area, and again, shown some great gear and stuff......Hats off to Scotty for dressing the stage in lights,,, looked absolutely fantastic....
13. always been interested in this stuff,, both as a solo performer and in the band. to me its also being aware of the invisible fourth wall between you and the audience, some performers seem to have a natural ability to build or break down this wall at will, but can be learned by anyone...getting the audience involved(or not) is definitely a craft..I really like the audience wanting to get involved / dance and I tend to be lively on stage, make eye contact, smile, but their are occasions you just need an audience to listen, performance bubbles are also cool,,,the old clown trick,,bubble one is being by yourself alone, isolated on stage,, bubble two, is recognising someone and acknowledging them (even if you don't know them) and bubble three is watching the audience realise you are on stage in front of everyone (this make sense to anyone?)...nothing wrong of course in bursting on a stage and going for it either mind..its as complicated as you want to make it really,,but a good example is watching a top comedian,, he really needs folk to listen,, so usually jumps on the hecklers really quick and firm,, if everyone thinks heckling is ok and joins in it soon turns to chaos....its an interesting thread...

15. Played Crewe Lyceum recently,,, and waited all the way to see a bus,, so I could cry,, its a CREW BUS.... which no-one understood..ouch.
16. Hey Jazzyvee,, also worked alongside these guys at Butlins, pretty impressive grown up stuff these days... hope it goes well.
17. Hey Jack, Theatres are really great to play, however personally not done a pit job,, I would be tempted to check the Equity website, they list jobs like this, and even if not a member, your local branch will be happy to talk to you about productions coming up, and contacts. best of luck with it.
18. its a fair point Pete, I used to place gigs on there as yourself, not really as advertisement, as not expecting everyone to come see us, but did feel others may be interested and want to share experiences of venues etc. but like the young boy being ignored in the music shop, finally gave up, also feel that some of us playing the length of the country week in week out often in major venues are often classed on here as second rate to say our jazz fusion cousins who couldn't get a paid gig if they tried, so after a very busy and successful august ( three festivals, four theatres and four good venues) agree that support for gigging bassists on here could be improved. often information re load ins, accommodation, which pier you cant get vehicles on! etc can be really valuable,, guess some folk think all professional musicians talk about is what material you use for your nut....
19. Every situation has to be taken on its own merits of course, Not happy about the time some guys at a jam session (never again) blew the speakers in my SWR Redhead,,but that was also my own lack of experience and should have known better....funny tho,,played "the worlds biggest tirbute festival" couple of weeks ago,, and just packing the van when a young geezer,, who looked like a twenty year old Phil Lynott, popped his head in the van and says "Er mate - any chance I can borrow your black P Bass.. cant get mine to work!,,and of course, he was very welcome... here is the proof.
20. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww no......
