1. When I last left feedback for Si, I ended it by saying "I have a feeling that this won't be the last of our transactions" Sure enough, I just been over to see Si again this evening and collect a fine bass. Always a pleasure to deal with one of Basschats finest!
2. Called in to see Dave yesterday and buy a bass from him. Nice easy transaction and would be happy to recommend Dave to anyone.
3.
Cheers, Etienne! As it 'appens, I really like the tweeterless top-end of the EX112ER. I think I prefer it to the HT with the horn rolled off. I might go for another EX and run a pair of 'em...
I had the same stack any if using one only cab, i too preferred the EX to the HT with horn rolled off. Kinda surprised that there was a noticeable difference, tbh.
4. It was £899 + 1.99 p&p Was in a rack case and looked in very good nick, in what you could see from the photo
5. It's gone now - not to me though
6.
No you're not being too picky. However OTO wimping out of an audition with less than 24 hours to go is very bad form. If you were booked into a rehearsal room and the terms are anything like they are here in Nottingham then the band you should have been auditioning for will have just lost at least 50% of the room rental. If that happened to me I'd not be a happy chap either.
The above may well be the case, however, you still did the right thing. If you had turned up, played your 20 songs, or whatever and got the gig, then said thanks, but no thanks as its not my kind of music, though thought I'd turn up anyway, so as not to disappoint you! - well, i think they would have been even more pissed. You called Tim as soon as you realised it wasn't for you and you can't say fairer that that, in my book
7.
Just got back from the Youth Centre - profit from the event currently stands at £340 -
I popped me snout in for half an hour or so in the afternoon, so should chuck in a tenner - if somebody can tell me how? P
8. Good fine there - if i didn't already have a dB750...... Hopefully someone on Basschat will get it
9. Yep, top gig I say them a couple of years back at the Forum in Kentish Town.
10. Good call Barrie, Be nice see & hear those Berg cabs in action - if you still have some left in stock! Paired up with a Tonehammer head, hmm Plus, of course any of the other mentioned gear, would be most welcome too.
11. Welcome to Basschat Hope you enjoyed your Constitution holiday on Friday Speaking of Weather- been hearing that it hit 27 degrees, in Trondheim, over the weekend.
12. Another lovely old Fender there, Si
13.
FYI, mine arrived today. No import duty
Result! BTW Did the amount declared on the customs form on the front of the package, reflect the amount you actually paid? Some scurrilous traders in US intentionally under declare the value of the package to avoid their customers paying import duty - good for their business innit I've personally have lost count of the times I've had to complain about being denied the opportunity to pay some more tax, when importing strings from US And that's the one variable that hasn't been discussed in this thread so far, declared v actual value. The charges are based on the declared value.
14.
I'm not worried about knocks, more someone swiping it!
Well, if it goes missing when you're over my way , you'll know where to look first!
15.
Alice has just talked me out of selling the Pino as I'm reluctant to gig it, so i'll pass on her advice
Nick, the Pino is a relic, whats the worst that can happen?
16. <<SOLD>> Wal Mk3 5 String bass for sale, with Wal case. I bought it from TOMAS on here a while back - every now and again I get tempted by a five string bass, though really should stick to the 4's that I'm more comfortable with! The blue/Grey Wal case was bought from the same in a seperate transaction. Price of bass to include case is £2350 I'm based in Harrow Middx and you are very welcome to come over and try it out. I'm not looking for any trades I will get some photos up soon..
17. Yep, did see that one too Love the 'vintage pre CBS - reissue' label
18. New Kings Road Guitars have the ex Noah and the Whale precision bass on their eBay store They claim its an 1963 pre CBS bass and the neck plate looks ok to me, However, the headstock decal is from '68, as far as I can see (looking closely at the sanded down bits) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-PRECISION-1963-EX-NOAH-AND-WHALE-PRE-CBS-FENDER-BASS-/390492336919 I'm no expert on these matters, though that just looks wrong
19. Have to agree with you there Alan - lova a bit of Aguilar
20. £115 Lindy Fralin should be there
21.
We've really tried to pull out the stops for our first Bass Bash - along with BigJim and Lozz196 we've managed to arrange for Laurence Cottle - http://laurencecottle.com/ - to facilitate "How the Bass fits in a big band and other situations" and Spy Austin - http://www.livesoundagency.com/html/_spy_austin.html - to facilitate "Life on the Road " an insight into living out of a suitcase.
Good effort re Laurence Cottle workshop
22.
BassGear in UK? and BassDirect ? Can't find it....
Updated: Bassgear.co.uk are the people to talk to. However, though as Barrie says in the following post, they don't have any in stock just now
23.
Thanks for the kind words, I'm still dithering on fitting the chrome's on the Jazz........
I like the look of a jazz with covers, though personally fine the cover gets in the way when I want to dig in a bit, over the bridge pickup
24.
The USA standards are £1,121 now and I'm sure they were "only" £1,076 over the weekend, should have ordered one then
Still £1076 at GuitarGuitar http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars.asp?brandname=Fender&offset=28 Or a few at £899 also: http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=10121611271314
