1. Sorry guys , that was way too daunting for me , It takes me all month to get set to one picture for a 3minute knock up , this was well beyond my writing, playing, recording and video editing skills, and I was away from home for 2 weeks of the month aswell . But I will have a good listen to the entries when the voting goes up .
2.
Wow, very good indeed.
wow, wow, very good, wow, very good, very good indeed. wow, very good, very good indeed, but a bit samey. wow, very good, very good indeed, but a bit samey, OK though , wow, very good, very good indeed, but a bit samey, OK though , for 1 song . to develop Daves idea a little but for a song yes great , but the songs need to do something or go somewhere , and it just ends up like showing off and gets very repetitive after 4 songs of the same stuff .
3.
Not really a bass thing, but one use of a looper that's always stuck in my mind was K T Tunstall's debut on Jools' show with 'Black Horse & The Cerry Tree' a few years ago. Pretty effective IMO.
That is pretty much what I saw this guy do , its ok for 1 song but for every time it just seemed he needed a band with him .
4. I was at a carboot sale this morning and saw a 'swift' bass , it was offered at £60 I knew not of the brand and passed on the deal but I thought it was for nothing .........until I googled it and found they are only £50 new
5. As an aside , I was watching a great evening of bands tonight and was recognised as playing a beer festival last year , I think the 'beer' part of the festival probably accounted for a bit of that though.
6. Rob, Ive seen your stuff and its great , but on a stage it just seems a bit odd to see an act build his part by playing in all the other parts first, rather than have his band mates do their bit . yes its a skill , but it rather eliminates the people skills that are needed to actually have a band .
7. Are they for performers with no mates ? Just watching a cool dude , but it just that there are at least three jobs going begging , are loopers the ultimate live bedroom players kit ?
8. I would like to offer a review of last nights offering in Crewe , but I didn't get any of the free sex that was promised and while Pete and (Bassman) Sam are great company, a gig broke out A great show Pete , really top draw musicianship , quality sound delivery and myself and Sam were very impresssed with the backing singers moves , especially when she was jumping up and down whilst hitting the cowbell on my old school It was great to meet you and Sam and I will definitely be along to another show at some point .
9. I missed that sorry , I thought I was following the thread , I am in Chester ,
10. Absolutely , But I am really trying to get the band to compliment the vocals and the harmonies IYSWIM , they stand up all on their own and getting the detail to come through will take some doing
11. Those vocal tracks are beautiful , I could ditch the rest of it and go acapella just so that you can pick the detail , I think I have a new plan
12.
There isn't any. It was a cynical advertising ploy.
Well bugger me
13. I reckon we could do that , are you going to wear the pink carnation or should I
14. I think you find I'm Spartacus as it happens Top story Debs I think 72 in the charts puts you top of the tree in the recognition stakes........................ So far
15. Ok I'll bite , are you a steeleye span tribute ? .... I'll do my best to call in
16. There are a few 'ouch' moments in there , but some great stories never the less
17. That's exactly the sort of stpries that I was thinking of
18. I don't mean that people recognise your talent ( or lack of on my case ) , just that you actually get recognised in a different place or context for being in a show or a band from a stage performance. I did a survey appointment a few weeks ago and the customer looked at me quizzically and asked me if I was in the band he saw at a pub a couple of weeks previously Yes, yes I was, it made my day in a curious faux celebrity kind of way . It's not that I now have to wear a disguise when I go to tesco or anything. Has anyone else had surprise recognition that has brought a smile to your face
19. A truly great thread all round

A great thread , as it happens, sorted my problem aswell
21. Cheers Bud , I do get Lurksalittle involved where I can , be she knows we haven't got time this month , I was away the week before last , back at work last week , and away with them all this week , so a bit awkward to squeeze on out , so to speak , I still should get the mix comp entered , but will be rariing for the next composition comp . I will of course get the chance to listen in and cast my votes . bets of luck to you all .
22.
Cool! Meelikey. What colour is that?
In England we call that ..... brown .. (monitor calibration issues excepted )
23. Ive just started running reaper on a new windows 8 machine , it handles it really well , very smooth hardly any clicking disrupting the sound when playing and the FX seem to load instantly ,
24. I was listening to this and chuckled all the way through at the lyrics .
