  1. I am currently using a little mark11 with a 1/15 and 2/10 markbass traveler series cabs. i am looking to replace the little mark with an amp that will give me a more aggressive tone that will cut through the mix in a rock setting. Any suggestions out there ?
  2. Have a roadie 11 since 1985. No bendy neck here. Great value for the money, I mean its hand made, a beautiful design and great woods!. still sounds magic. I will never part with it

[/quote] I remember being at a gig and the bass player wore the bass so that the strap went over his shoulder and up between his legs and attached to the heel of the instrument which required the bass to sit in a vertical position in a similar fashion to that of the double bass. The player in n question told me that after years of playing double he struggled to settle with the position of the guitar and adapted this alternative strapping arrangement and found it an effective option
  10. I use a markbass 1 by 15 and 2 by 10 traveller cabs together with a little mark 11. I want to purchase a backup amp but would like something a little different to markbass. Any suggestions as to what would me a good match for the traveller cabs

No two ear canals are the exact shape and hence the only safe solution are moulded plugs. (I have been using ACS and am very satisfied.

However would you give 180 euro for a a top class bass amp or your dream bass guitar? without a doubt you would. Now ask yourself this question. If you suffered significant hearing loss and/or tinnitus would you pay 180 euro to make a full recovery?. Well hears the deal, once your hearing is damaged its damaged forever. No amount of money will undo the damage. i would give every last penny i have to rid myself of hearing loss and tinnitus that has been self induced as a result of playing bass without the proper hearing protection. i used standard plugs thinking i was protecting my hearing. I was fooling myself. Now i use ACS moulded plugs and these have allowed me to retain the hearing I have left and continue to gig. Proper moulded plugs are the best equipment any musician can buy and should be an essential tool for all musicians exposed to loud music. The thing is you really need to get them before you damage your hearing.

Jez [/quote] i have not purchased the DVD yet but I saw them in Dublin last May and Geddy's vocals were faultless. I have seen them a number of times over the years and this was Rush at their best

But standard plugs cannot compensate for the exact shape of your ear canal and may not give you a total seal and thereby the necessary protection. That has been my experience. Moulded are the only way to go if your serious about protecting your hearing.

[/quote] i have purchased gear off thomann and returned it and there was no problem with refund, but the buyer has to pay the return shipping cost. Personally i prefer to buy across the counter. but its not always possible

I am just sorry I did not start using plugs years ago. in my experience musicians only start to use plugs when the damage is done (just like me!).   18. Different markbass cabs offer different types of voicing. i use the traveller series and they are compact and light. they lack the the punchy mids of the larger 4 by tens and are probably best suited to jazz as opposed to rock IMO

  21. It appears that the markbass tube 800 is lacking enough support on this forum, suggesting a blind purchase might be too risky. Maybe going that bit extra and opting for the Markbass TTE 500 is an option. Anybody got any reports on these?
  22. I have a roadie 11 fretted since 1985 and they are a very well made instrument. Considering the new price is just £1,155 makes them one of the best value instruments out there. Dont know much about the frettless though. Try it out. If it plays well and is in good shape and you like the tone buy it and enjoy

[/quote] I agree with regard to amps sounding quite different on their own when compared with a band situation. I have tried out gear in shops loving the tone and when its transferred to a gig situation it can be a let down.

  25. I use a saddowsky nyc, a 1964 fender jazz and a Jaydee roadie but the nicest bass I ever played was a mates old Japanese squier jazz bass!
