1.
Indeed, the TTE is so light I don't think standing it on its end would be wise at all. Nope, as Opticaleye says, they are well secured in the sockets.
are the tubes user servicable in the TTE 500,or are they hardwired to the motherboard as in the case of the little mark tube?. I wonder how this head works with the markbass traveller cabs?.
2.
that you love so much... for me its that classic 70's spacing jazz growl and punch from my MIJ 75 jazz... the amazing neck.. the simplicity of the 2 volumes and the tone.. it does what it does, and more, so well... im sure this sort of tone was the inspiration, for the first person to build a super jazz.... what makes your bass very cool to you....?
I had the neck on my Sadowsky NYS custom shaped to replicate a vintage pre cbs jazz . Super comfy !!
3. these are great basses, much better than the american standard series in terms of build and capture the vintage vibe really well. Fantastic neck but IMO the standard 2 volume 1 tone control is more effective
4. i have been using an 115p for over 1000 gigs. a great cab, ultra reliable.
5. yep. Its 500 watts into 4 ohms. They are bloody loud though!!
6. The buzzing may be due to a poor earth somewhere in the mains supply
7. Hi. I am interested in this. What is the cost of shipping to Galway in the republic of Ireland.? Thanks
8.
Hi Leroy, Posts here on another forum that answers this I think: http://www.talkbass....12/index31.html from Aguilar post #605: Originally Posted by IntrepidCellist: The clip light is for the master volume; it should ideally be always off. Hey IntrepidCellist: Not so. It indicates that the preamp is clipping. You can clip all you want on the Tone Hammer 500. You may not like the sound of it clipping; but nothing bad will happen to the amp. It will not turn off or go thermal or break in any way. The light is just telling you what you will probably be hearing anyway. Somebody playing hard may make the clip light turn on when hitting peaks. If you want it remain cleaner sounding, you can change the gain structure by turning on the input pad. Hope that helps clarify. DB
thanks very much for this link
9. just got an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 to replace my little mark 11. Gigged it at the weekend and very happy with the tone. A much tighter low end and it cut through the mix better than the little mark 11. However I had a problem getting a similar level of volume from the Aguilar as I do from the little mark 11. Every time i reached the desired volume level, the clip light would come on. Any recommendations?. I play in a rock band so our volume requirements tend to be on the loud side. I am using 2 little mark 15 cabs so that is 4 ohm so I should be sucking the full 500 watts form the tonehammer
10. Got a Sadowsky NYC but purchased it in the USA new at reasonable cost. They are truly a beautiful. One of the selling points of the NYC models is their weight. Very light indeed which suits my needs. This side if the pond these basses are really expensive due to tax and duty regulations and this effects their popularity. As for Fender, IMO serious quality control issues persist and customer support is not what it should be. These are not issues when you buy Sadowsky NYC
11. played a five for a couple of years and then one day picked up my 4 string jazz and never looked back.
12. has anybody used the TH500 with Markbass traveler cabs?.
13. cannot believe this has not been snapped up. if it were a 4 stringer It would be mine
14.
Still love mine too. Can't imagine being without the built-in tuner these days. Lack of volume - what a joke! Like others, I've had to reign in the preset volume by a long way and *still* don't get anywhere near half-way on the master volume. As for the Talkbass furore, I'm sure a large part of it is red-necks who'll hate any non-US product. (Hence so much GenzBenz love over there)
maybe many of them are experienced bass players who just don't get on with TC gear
15.
FWIW, I used a LMIII for a good while (rock stuff, precision, pick), then I bought a BDI21, which gave me the more aggressive tone I was after, then I bought a Sansamp for the programmable functions, then I got all OCD about not having pedals (don't like the mither of them), and I bought a RH450, which sorted me out completely. A Classic450 would do the job as a more aggressive backup if you don't need the bells and whistles of the RH. And yes, the TC stuff is at least as loud as the LMIII...
Tried out the RH450 with the traveler cabs but felt they did not match one another all that well.
16.
I can only conclude there's something wrong with either his rig or his ears, then - I play in a band where I use ear protection because we have a full-on rock drummer, and I've never been anywhere 11 o'clock on the volume. I've played club gigs where I didn't go through the house PA, and the sound guy didn't realise until he tried to lower my fader and remembered he hadn't connected the DI cable... That's where the "Where's the rest of it?" comment in my sig comes from - after the gig, he didn't believe I only had the kit I did. What cabs is your mate using? Edit for agreement with WoTs far more coherent possibility... you will have to make another conclusion. He uses RS 210 cabs and his ears are pretty sharp judging by the quality of his playing
17.
I have my BDI pre connected to my amp for monitoring, but also to the desk via the DI out. Then if my LM goes tits-up, I can still easily complete the gig. And I doubt anyone out front would notice anything amiss.
thats a good optio,n but some of my gigs do not have full PA support so if the little mark goes down, gig over, hence the need for a back up
18. Cannot agree. A mate of mine, a very experienced bass player purchased an. R.H 450 rig last year and continues to comment on the lack of volume.
19. I have a Sadowsky NYC, purchased in the USA and worth every penny, as it was bought a number of years ago when the dollar was weak and i did not have to worry about import taxes. Roger makes a top class bass but IMO they are not worth the price being charged currently in the UK. On the other hand it you reside in the USA and can try one out off the rack and it appeals to you, it would be a very worthwhile purchase and will hold its value very well.another aspect is after sales service and on this score Sadowsky will not be beaten. I have never used a Metro so will not comment but agree that they are on the expensive side
20. Burp! yes I have a little Gas, but it is motivated by a desire to avoid the being caught out at a gig if my little mark were to go down and not having a backup,
21. I have considered replacing the little mark 11 with an aguilar tonehammer 500 And using the little mark as a backup. Reviews of the aguilar suggest that it has a pretty aggressive tone. Any thoughts of this proposal?. Would it be a good match for the traveler cabs? P.S. i use fingerstyle but find it doesn't work when covering bands like Thin Lizzy etc. You just cannot emulate the attack of the pick with fingerstyle. Interestingly i find it very challenging to play pick style and fatigue very quickly
22. Thanks for all the replies. what a great website.!!.
23.
I've had the same rig. Try upping the mids and leave the VLE and VPF off. Frank.
thanks for the reply. when you say leave the VLE and VPF off, do you mean at 12 o clock?
