  1. Played a USA Fender Jazz, played a Sandberg Jazz. For a passive Jazz bass I would have neither, it would be a domestic market/non export MIJ/CIJ Jazz. Streets ahead. imo.
  2. Looks wicked with the clear plate Carl. This is a killer 70s jazz and sounds like one. The Nordy preamp is fantastic. Up there with any high end Jazz 5 ive ever played. The neck for me is quite Lakland, nice and flat. Around £2500/3000 to have one like this built now, and Mas Hino wouldnt be building it.. GLWTS Carl.
  3. Tesco Value. Comedy Gold. For the life of me I want to have a look but every time I try Ali Express I just get a ? on every item. Do you have a link.?
  4. Yeah I think they are just getting going on the Bass front Oli so yeah a 5 would be cool... Ive owned 5 Sires now in between the higher end stuff and they are killer. the last one was a 1st gen V7 5 and the pickups sounded so good I only played it passive. But good lord it was heavy. Natural Ash Maple.. When we sell our house this year and are mortgage free and after a really tough 2/3 years, no man nor woman will have witnessed on Basschat the GAS and basses im going to acquire.. 😆
  5. Owned one. But thankyou.
  6. Has anyone heard of these basses?. I hadnt until recently. They have caught my eye and have a massive following with their guitars.. im looking for a budget Jazz bass and between a CV Squire and these the Jet caught my attention. Having to sell all my basses and gear and my mahoosive mortgage, bills etc, im looking to start again. They have a poplar body roasted maple neck. Bone nut, etc. The guy that designed them is from Lithuania i believe and they are made in China. Im leaning toward the Sunburst. Does anyone own one/ played one.?
  7. Pensa all the way. They are just way and beyond good.
  8. I find some of these comments bizarre.. "the tuners aren't in line".? dont get that one..(probably best to realise that the pic is probably computer generated on certain parts) "The top looks like particle board". So it looks like MDF.? Really, does it really look like particle board.? Its an Artisan Custom Shop Fender..Thats what an Artisan Fender is.. So they use different parts that you wouldn't find on a period correct Jazz bass.. Im certainly no Fender fan boy but they are damned if they do and damned if they dont. I find most of the basses they keep churning out are just the same bass with a different paint job TBH.. If this was a Sadowsky or a Lull im betting everyone would have their pants down, but a Fender doing something different with a Burl top, Roasted flame maple neck and non period correct appointments... Oh no.. cant have that..
  9. Love it.. That has got to be a very expensive CS.. I never understood the love for Spitfire pickguards, to me they dont look like Proper tortoise shell at all, the figuring just doesn't look like TS imo, they look digitally printed for want of a better word.
  10. Your gonna regret this Ped.. Or maybe not... That sounds EPIC 70's Jazz..
  11. £4000 on a bass, no way.. Amazing and I mean amazing basses out there for £1500 to £2000 second hand, even 4th hand. For me a Lakland 5502 deluxe and Aguilar. But if I had to.. USA Lakland, Suhr, Sadowsky, MTD, F Bass, .
  12. If it was delivered from Siberia to Florida then maybe. But otherwise no.
  13. I bought a brand new Sadowsky RV5 back in 2010 direct from Sadowsky for £1650. Great bass. They are ridiculous money now. I feel they are way over priced. Lakland Skyline do it just as well for half the price with better options.
  14. Thats mould thats got into the wood. is that a crack going up to the D tuner.? More info is needed.
  15. thats water damage and doesn't look healthy.. If you have bought it ask ex Overwater luthier/painter David Wilson. Hes the master. If you have not bought it what Guy said. Pm me for David Wilsons number if you want his opinion.
  16. 18mm 34 inch scale is the norm for Martin. Mine was. It was for sale at the gallery recently. Sold for £2000. I put the Bartolini B Axis pickups in it as you see it in the pics. It used to have old school Barts. The bass was passive originally but a John East pre was installed. https://thebassgallery.com/products/sei-mark-ii-5-string-jazz This bass is a bargain at £1500
  17. When you pick up a Sei jazz bass its like no other bass imo... Among all of the previous Jazz basses I owned, Sadowsky/Suhr/Modulus/etc the Sei I had just felt like it was hand made over the others mentioned.. You just knew Martin had taken alot of time and care making it. That was my experience owning mine. They are just superb instruments.
  18. Thats an early Cort GB54 modded with a soapbar pickup on the neck. I personally wouldn't but depends on what the seller is asking. But like above have said.. Cort make excellent instruments, of course they make Lakland's so that says it all. But Lakland (Asia) use USA electronics and pickups from their USA built basses and send them back to Chicago for a final setup and plek so that makes a MASSIVE difference. It shows. Im not sure Cort do this..
  19. I had a Vintage v940 25 years ago roughly with a one piece bubinga body, built like a tank and weighed a tonne. But a really nice bass apart from the electronics and pickups. They were awful. Not long ago I picked up a Vintage jazz bass.Think it was a VJ4, I could be wrong... Imo it was just the worst jazz bass ive ever played. It felt cheap, the fret ends were horrible. It had a John East preamp in it but that wasn't enough to redeem it. Imo look elsewhere like a Sire/Squier.. Way way better build quality and pickups etc.
  20. OMG thank you so much guys. I wasn't expecting such a response. I will PM you all.. The legend that is Happy Jack has offered to loan me a bass. Thanks Mick. Im in Worcestershire btw.
  21. Thankyou for the positivity. Ill get back to it.
  22. Well its come to that time that finances have hit so hard that I have had to sell my last bass. And my beloved Aguilar 212. Its really stinky poo because ive been playing bass for 28 years and I feel musically lost. Im sure some have been through this before. Ive not been without at least one bass for all those years. Hasn't really hit me yet.. Still have my Eden amp... But yep im lost without a bass... Has anyone been bass less before,.?
  23. Im always amazed Zs aren't looked upon as among the greatest jazz basses like NYC Sadowsky. These are easily up there with any NYC Sadowsky.
