Be careful when deciding on a bass with active/passive switching basses. Some circuits still drain your battery even when running on passive mode, go for a true bypass to avoid it. You can have that modification put in if needs be!
Great. i didnt know this.. also the battery drains,on an Active bass when your playing obviously ,,but also when you leave your 1/4 inch jack lead in when standing..even when not in use the jack plug opens the circuit, so is then using your expensive 9V..
 2.
Wow... I have to confess I never looked at the Deluxe series for if I'm not mistaken they're made in Mexico and all the standard MIM Fender's I've played felt and looked really cheap... That looks better done than my American Deluxe though, what the...? So those who have owned it recommend it both in tone and build quality? Is it made in Mexico or am I totally wrong? EDIT: Ok, that one apparently is made in Korea? One more surprise to me, I thought Fender were made in US, Japan and Mexico only... the ones from Japan were actually quite good so I'm guessing these won't disappoint... But after my experience with MIA Fender, my feeling being that all other countries with the cheaper basses have even less stringent quality control, I'm still a bit uneasy with getting another Fender...
...Fender have had a varied rep across the board in time,i have played a early 75 jazz that was amazing, but an earlier 60's bass that that was not so good... some MIA are not so good, some are amazing.. some MIM are good and bad, from my experience CIJ/MIJ are usually very good, i generally think any bass (like my Sadowsky and Yamaha TRB6II) made in Japan, are supreme in craft..manship, they really put out quality....... Korean Jazz 24's have had quality issues..i,...by luck had a good one, and it was very good..i think for what you get, there is not a better bass but im sure there may be better(depending on mass production issues etc)..IMHO get the Jazz 24, its everything you want.. Good luck bro
 3.
Correct - the Jazz 24 is active only. The toggle switch is for a mid scoop/"slap" preset. Speaking of Music Man, there were passive basses in the SUB range as well but they are quite rare. Sandberg makes very nice basses, all of them can be switched to passive and most have 24 frets (except for the Fender-style California Series, obviously).
THIS IS NOT CORRECT! the Fender Jazz 24 has an active /passive pull switching...not the toggle..Believe me i have owned one..
 4.
Agreed - but the OP was looking for something which will run passive. Is there a passive option on the Jazz 24? I thought it was active only?
no it has a passive active switching..
 5. Look no further in my opinion, Fender Jazz 24 I had one and it was a very very good bass, very growly, with a bridge pick up honk better than my 75RI..Light as a feather, quilt top, hipshot tuners, SD jazz pups, slap switch..passive active switching.. Im thinking of getting another and putting some Nordy's and an OBP3 in it.. Awsome bass for the money!!!
 6. Superb...one of the best basses i have ever seen!!!

 13.
Ok... this is just a feeler potential trade item! How about my unlined fretless 4 string jazz bass? Warmoth Jazz body Allparts unlined ebony fretless neck Schaller tuners Bartolini 9J Jazz pickups Badass IV bridge (not pictured) All other bits are Warmoth The finish was done professionally by DM guitars, its a translucent orangy-red colour, the only pictures I have at the moment don't do it any justice. It's a head turner anyway. This is the first bass I ever built, so im not entirely sure what im doing, its just to see what you think.
Sorry i should have said..im not after a fretless..Nice bass mindd..
 14.
How heavy can a bass be!!!!!
Try a TRB6II Big Chief, thats pertly why im looking elsewhere.. wouldnt want to play for 3 hours with one..and im sure there are heavier basses out there!!
 15.
It depends what you mean by better. Streamers are more expensive for similar specs, but as I understand it, that's mainly down to the construction methods used.
Sorry stupid Q..Do the pups differ? Im looking to sell my TRB6II, ang get a Streamer 5..What sort price am i looking at for an early model??
 16. Have got the gas for a Warwick streamer, but just wondering the weight of one..they allways looked heavy to me.. Dont know anything about Warwicks, so a few Q's whats the the tone like...Any growl, is the streamer a better bass than the Corvette? Thanks
 17. Hey people, i have recently joined a reggae outfit, and im really enjoying it! Doing covers such as Toots, Burning Spear, Marley, UB40, and various riddims.. Like with many genre's, it has sub genres, but its interesting to see the riddims passed along from the originator, to other artists, and to hear there lyrical take on it. Riddims like Ali baba, Slengteng, Declaration of Rights, Police in Helicopter, Forever lovin Jah riddims..Also great songs like UB40's Food for thought, and my favorite Marley's waiting in vain.. These riddims/bass lines have to be kept to the original, and i like to improvise , so i have to erm....reel in my ego and stick with the groove (and i mean note for note) I also feel that it has a very close relation to funk, in as much as the groove and feel/touch is everything, wether it be on the one, or off the beat.. Any one had experience playing reggae??
