1. I seem to be having difficulties with the high end volume on my Amp/Cab...The amp is an Aguilar 500sc and the cab is a agy 212..I used to think it was one of my basses, but it seems to do it with every bass.. .For example last night on a Stingray5 i was playing with everything dialled in to the middle. i was getting loads of punch from notes on the B E and A string but when i play up high it just seems to loose volume and its really frustrating..I know its not the strings choking, the tweeter dial on the back of the cab is on full the mids and treble on the Amp are up.. Its like there is a limiter on the amp stopping the highs from being played loud I really can not work out what is going on..I want the same volume across all of the strings...It might be something really obvious but i cant see it? Any help much appreciated..

 3. Also, when you get your 5 string put the other basses away. Don't keep switching between them. You'll find it easier to make the transition if you only play the 5 QUOTE>>>> This is not always the case,...I play 4's 5's 6's, and i never have problems going between any of them..There is no reason why you cant go back to a 4 if you have played a 5...why would there be? If you play them all the time you get used to it
 4.
After having played a good number of Sadowsky Metro basses, I feel that they are pretty overrated. Very pricey for what they are, when I found cheaper alternatives to be superior!
UHH???? Sadowsky overated? Pricey for what they are?...there that price because they make some of the best instruments in the world.....it is all a matter of opinion of course.......some may say the best preamp in the business.. I would love to know what cheaper basses have you found to be superior to a Sadowsky??
 5.
Maceo cerainly knows how to pick a bass player, here's one of his others.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR41cXuUfPg
Hey hes using tha Lakland in your Avatar..
 6. The RV5 i owned had a superb neck...very smooth, with a non glossy neck...i dont like glossy necks..
 7.
+1 here
+1 also... i can make it sound good erm...IMHO...Keeping it simple does help i think...I really dont like it when people put every possible sub technique into slap, like three finger pops and double thumbing, it just turns into an ego festival and a noise..For me space has alot to do with making up good music and its the same in slap..
 8. I think Lee is asking us to recommend a backup bass that is similar in tone to a Status Groove should the Status give up the ghost..
 9. Aaghh, dont do it Rich....You will regret it my son
 10. If i want to buy an instrument from a shop, its for that reason only...I want to hear the lows and highs of the bass as well as everything im going to be using the bass for...I find it a little embarrassing when people go into music shops and show off there chops...Your there to audition a bass not audition for the shop staff Nothing makes me cringe more than hearing someone play slap.QUOTE>>>> I know what you mean but If i slap its because i want to hear what the bass sounds like slapped..Dont know how else you would find that out??
 11.
Hey thanks. Had a look on their site. Nice looking bass...the soundclips sound great. I might have to look into a Lakland. Thanks. How do passive elecs handle a low b? Is it something I dont need to even worry about? Ill also take a look at these! I agree on the AC. Im mainly a 4 string man...so the AC will 99% be a 4 string. Lots to think about on that one, and also whether its an AC, or a Sadowsky. Does anyone have experience with Sadowsky Metro 5's? This looks stunning! http://www.sadowsky.com/media/metro/thumb/...W-ALD-5-3TB.jpg Thanks
Sadowsky...in a word awsome, better than anything mentioned here IMHO, expensive now mind, Your looking at the igh end of £1800.. I used to have an RV5 and the tone was supreme among basses
 12. Lakland 55-02 ...enough said
 13. A lot of kids want to be bass players because of his work. Isn't that a good thing too? QUOTE>>>>> In my opinion...yes thats great!! as long as they dont emulate him in a way that may take away from there style that could be there own...I have learned many a lick from amazing players along the way, but its important to keep your own thang.. i appreciate players who cover great bass players tunes, but for god's sake dont ask me...."how can i get the tone of"....your YOU, good or bad..important thing is your original..
 14.
Probbaly just the response of the cabinet making the higher notes less defined.
should this happen Sparticus..? urely not... What can i do if this is the case?
 15.
It'll even out the peaks and troughs in your playing. Might help even out between the high and low, might of course be barking up the wrong tree.
Well ive been wanting to get a EBS multicomp...BLoody hell my knowledge of amps etc is so bad.. Thanks anyway bro..
 16.
Perhaps a compressor is what you need?
Please explain Merton...I shouldnt need a compresor should i? Surely i should be able to hear my highs without it??
 17.
Errr, nope thats horsep***....... Nothing uncool about slapping a bass, if you do it really really really funky. The likes of Mr King however gave it a very very bad name indeed (esp in various old school funk circles). Damned shame!
I agree, dont get me wrong i love L 42 but he did do it too much, and didnt let the music breath...Bloody awsome talent mind... Im curious about Wolstenhome...me not being into this kind of stuff...Ive heard alot about him and was curious to how good he is.??...Cant seem to find anything on YT? I may be wrong but were not talking Gospel bassist good??? I take it he doesnt slap.
 18. Have never seen him do this, wondered how good it would be but i wasnt dissapointed ..Tis very good indeed.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qji84EgLEio...feature=related

 21.
Looks really nice - very Ken Smith(ish)? I also wanted to say that if anyone is at all wary of trading with NP becuase he's based in Finland then they needn't be. Aprt from being a really nice guy he's 100% reliable to deal with. I actually bought quite an expensive bass from him & he shipped it over to me before I'd even paid any sort of deposit. In fact it actually arrived at my house (perfectly packaged) before my money transfer had gone through
Thanks Barrie.. I may be interested in this so that put me at ease!!
 22. Is this the bass that was once owned by Julian Crampton? Glad to see it back in good order by the way!!!!
