i sent him a message asking him if i could see the bass, as im a erm....Vintage Fender Jazz collector.. .he said i couldnt because he was away and he would let me know.....sorry i spoilt it, it may not have been me, but i told him to stop trying to rip people off...i hate people like this that have nothing better to do with there lives than makes others a misery by trying to rip them off....hes a scum bag... just imagine if it was a newbee who maybe didnt have our foresight and shelled out his/her saved up cash to get there first bass, and this pxxxk takes it and runs...

Could be a MIM but distrrssed ? for any bass with Fender on the headstock this price is low...confusing...if its too good to be true...it usually is..
This bass has been passed around a bit recently, I'm the third owner in about three months. I don't really know why, because it's a really great bass, both soundwise, to play and in looks. I'm only selling it because I already have two other jazz basses with rosewood fretboards, and I've just bought a Marcus Miller signature bass. I should point out that this may already be sold, but I'm going to advertise it anyway in case that sale falls through. The bass has a great low action and is currently fitted with DR Lo-rider nickel strings. It comes with a good quality gig bag. Personal collection from Birmingham is preferred, but I will post if absolutely necessary. I've had it set up since I bought it, and it now has a tortoiseshell pickguard fitted to it. I still have the original black one that will accompany the sale. It also has a chrome pickup cover fitted to it for the 'Marcus' look. I'd like £595 plus shipping for it. Trades welcome for a 5 string Musicman (plus cash from me). I'd prefer white or sunburst. Or an Aguilar AG500 or AG500SC. I'm going to be playing on a cruise ship from the middle of next month, so I'd like to get a deal sorted out before then.
I'm only selling it because I already have two other jazz basses with rosewood fretboards, and I've just bought a Marcus Miller signature bass. oh i didnt think of the Bartolinis...of course they are single coils! EBS the controls are screened...the control cavity with black screening paint and the control cover is aluminium with a veneer top..Maybe i should put the Nordstrand NJse's in...and put the Barts in the Fender... i didnt realise but Martin has used the 4 string version of the Bartolinis in a 5 String Sei...
-
Hey! excuse the title thought it might get your attention.. just wondered what you guys/girls thought...i have a U Retro in my Sei and im getting all sorts of buzzing noises and general interference from electronics....there is a background white noise and when i touch the controls there is a buzz.... oh and the buzzing is still there in passive mode keep in mind this is through headphones so is less easy to hear through the Aguilar...but annoying all the same... any ideas

Any tips for reducing friction on a painted neck?
bubinga5 replied to fatback's topic in Bass Guitars
IMO it doesnt matter how much you wash your hands, your hands will sweat....no, there is nothing wrong with the neck, but if you dont like the feel of it, there is... there is a reason why Sadowsky and an SR5 dont have high gloss necks.. personally i find a high gloss neck hinders my playing..i use very fine wire wool to take the edge off of it...i like smooth transitions...
@bubinga5: If you're an electrician you should perhaps reread what I've stated, apply some of your knowledge about the construction processes of electrical components and realise I've said that the majority of components will be fine once dried out instead of skimming my post and then trying to imply I'm an idiot. Kthxbai.
Mate i didnt skim your post and i didnt imply your an idiot??... ive got a bass to play
What the chuff are you lot on about? The only things that will possibly be damaged is the finish (due to possible swelling of wood if water soaks in) and some steel components if you didn't dry them afterwards. The electronics for the most part would be perfectly fine once dried out. Actives even more so considering they're often PCB based, ergo, plastic covered copper tracks. Solder doesn't rust either with it being mostly tin and having no iron content. The magnets and screws may rust, but the actual pickup windings will be perfectly fine due to being enamelled copper wiring. Splashing a bucket of water on a bass isn't like you're dropping it in a pool, it's really only going to be a little bit of water which hangs around the bass, most will splash off or roll off rather sharpish. Go for it. Just dry it out fairly promptly.
Im an electrician and water on PCB boards dont mix...isnt the fact that water getting into the neck swelling the wood enough?..i will bet my Sei that if you get water in the pots they will be damaged..how can you be serious that when get water in your pups casings and windings, your pick ups will work properly? how do you know that water wont linger where you dont want it..? you forget that its not just the water getting on the pickups but the electrical signal being passed through these components.. i bet you wouldnt risk it with a £5000 Ritter???? are you really that confident to chuck a bucket of water over his bass??
Ok sorry... The configuration will be standard P on neck and J on bridge, But what pups? what brand? what model? The differences in the sound ??? That kind of stuff To achieve a good sound !!!! Cheers RR
i really dont think you can go far wrong with a set of Nordstrand NPJ4se hum cancelling set...thats the P and J set.. or some say for more of a vintage sound go for the single coil version...Nordstrand are immense in the pick up market..ive got the SE J's in my jazz and there as good as you can get for clarity.....BUT, there expensive..Sound wise its difficult, because not many people have heard different pickup brands side by side on the same bass..i could be wrong Maybe Wizard could hook you up...? i think you need to talk to a pro pickup manufacturer and they could steer you in the right direction...IMO all in all to achieve a GOOD sound, im sorry to say is very subjective...talk to a pro do you want to keep it passive?
