There was another fantastic Sei jazz for when i bought mine and it had a dark wood top.. amazing looking bass.. anyone remember??

Ive been saving up for a Nordstrand.. BUT.. the old Sei i had, left a very good impression on me... possibly the most comfortable, playable 5 string ive ever played.. It really is the bass i think about alot.. im aware they are/can be very different basses there was no getting away from the Sei's modern, sometimes polite, jazz bass tone..ok it wasnt really a jazz bass tone... but i would lov e that bass with a super jass bass tone.. i love a classic Fender tone but like the choice of an active eq.. Im in two minds as of the great passive tone of a Nordy 4 or going for a my holly grail passive/active Sei jazz.. oh in a flame maple

Ive been listening to these guy since The Robben Ford Group.. this is smoking jazz funk.. Jimmy Haslip is such a cool bassist, perfect groove with the wonderful understated slap bass thrown in...... no wonder i like the genre so much...

what realy matters is how pure your note can sound for a while until you fret another note... my old Modulus was seriously good at sustaining a note... went on for 20 seconds... do i miss it..? no.. .. as long as a bass has a fairly good construction and has fresh strings it will have a good sustain.. like i said there is much more important things to look at in an instrument.. sometimes i do wonder why subjects like these are even being disscussed.. and im a bass geek

the standard Fender jazz is a very good bass.. for me i wouldnt even go USA.. CIJ make a better bass IMO.. cheaper, as well made in all areas, and no routing under the pickguard.. USA FEnder just dont cut it for me.. My MIJ Jazz bass is way better than my old USA Jazz and as good as my old Custom Shop...

I put the Lollar pickups in my Jazz bass today.. just... wow..... ive tried most of the great pups from Nords to Fralins to Sadowsky in my past jazz basses.. but i really really like these pups.. of course they bring the bass alive from the Japan pickups but good god.... they are the real deal when it comes to a jazz bass pickup....im really blown away at how good these things sound... there much smoother and less aggressive than the Fralin's i had.. but punchier than the Nordstrand NJse's i had in the CS Fender, and alot less compressed being a single coil... if you want a very aggressive J pickup though these are not for you... i always heard great things about Jason Lollar pickups and im glad to say its all true.... of course your ear will tell you but in my opinion these are as good as Jazz pickups get.. its amazing what a good pickup can do to a bass...this is now a proper world class jazz bass if you get the chance, try these pups in your jazz.!!. it sounds so so good with the Audere...the perfect super jazz tone...im wondering what these pups are like running a passive bass.. through the Aguilar amp there is not anything jazz wise that ive owened, that comes close to what my MIJ sounds like now...incredible pickups that cost alot less than the 200 squid Nordies.. thanks Clarky..

its not that i dont care about sustain, but its a problem that very rarely arrises... unless you have a very shoddy bass with 10 year old strings, its not going to be a problem.. sustain is a moot point nowadays as most basses can do it... there is such a thing as over engineering... im betting i could give you guys an Encore with fresh strings, and you could have sustain for any song you want.. you may or may not like the tone, but thats a different story...

how are you defining better.. is your taste better.? you dont like the style we get it... you would hate Mezzoforte..

very cool playing.. right on the money.. i just adore that fender jazz bass tone.. nothing else like it... ok maybe the other ones.. i do hate pigeon holeing of music though.. lift music, Ceefax music. job finder..???. i bet whats gone into it is far and beyond what most of us are capable of.. its just not your style.. sorry that really gets on my wick..
