1.
Sorry for being a bit dense.....but. I have seen foam under the strings before, but I dont quite get why someone would do it. I have string mutes on my Ric so would that serve the same purpose?? Why do you gain from the foam or mutes???
for the style of music your playing.. you may not want sustain in say, Reggae, or for an old school tone..
2. What do you think of this guys playing.. for me hes up there with Wooten, Miller and the greats..not well known but a monster player. total speed groove and musical.... please skip to 7.20 for the groove playing... that Lakland sounds superb... 3. 1.. very expensive cables... geek alert 2.. High mass bridges... 3.. String through bodies... well you fell for it 4... people who think neck dive isnt a design flaw
4.
Number 3 is spot on. I generally pluck an open string to demonstrate the controls on an active bass - volume, pan, bass, mid , treble. Never make the customer feel insecure.
yeah i totally agree i went into Guitar Guitar once in Glasgow to try a Sadowsky and when he got it down he seemed to want to show me what he was capable of on the bass..? the guy could play but i didnt care...total ego massaging...
5. i agree but most basses have a sustain that lasts for 1 or 2 bars... i think the marketing thing stems from claims that one bass sustains more than others... to start saying a bass should sustain for ages is IMO marketing..
6. you need to include a price in your ad G..
7. overwater really went to town to make that jazz a looker... i would like a review please Machines.. ps..i suspect its a modern sounding jazz bass..
8. i just dont buy it.. ive played hundreds of basses and everyone could hold a note for 5 seconds or more... if not the strings are very old... there is much more important things in bass guitars... im a total geek when it comes to basses but i know whats worth spending money on to get a good tone..Thats why i bought some Lollars from Clarky... oooh that mans a good egg.
9. recently iplayed a bongo a sr4 and a sterling and the sterling was the best IMO.. awsome focused slap tone..
10. its marketing yep.. just like string through bodies, high mass bridges, yeah they do make a difference but the difference is so little the only person who cares is the bassist... dont get me wrong i love pimping basses but sometimes i feel that alot of companies are engineering stuff for a problem that isnt there..
11. .. i do think that a note should sustain, but when do you ever play a note for that long? most basses sustain long enough to make good music..i really dont buy into this 'my bass sustains for days'... who cares
12. its a Jaco.. no pickguard as standard..but why no holes...awsome awsome bass mind..
13. yeah i really like that...
14. Yeah..its great. prefer it to the original..
15. This has so much groove its hurts... love the bass, keys and horns.. f***,.. everything is right on this track.. super soul funk!! this man is so talented its silly.. one of the greats in soul music today IMO... 16. This guy is an amazing player!.. Glen Gaddum on Frank Mccombs version of Golden Lady... when the track gets going he shows some wonderful musical chops... nothing flashy, just dancing around the changes and in the pocket.. this not gonna blow you away with flash, but what he does he does so well and i adore his note choices.. !!!

18. Got back from work and listened to my Chaka collection.. just loved her early stuff with Rufus.. these are my favorites...for those who maybe havent heard these not so well known.... Super dupper soul funk.. they bring me joy... Wow, this track is sooooo cool.. my mum showed me this classic when i was very young, and its stayed with me as a favorite.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYliUs0wvIk This is my favorite Chaka Rufus tune ever.. its just such a soul classic... Erykah Badu did this on her live album.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2DccadfcBs Nothing like Chaka's voice on this Bobby classic.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGoHiWhWoo8 Just!! just!!! just!! bad ass.. 22.
i dont know much but i know that's def not genuine! the neck lookslike a cheap aftermarket, the logo doesnt look right, pickups wrong knobs wrong etc etc. just hope someone doesnt end up shelling out on this lemon!
they wont ive reported it..
23. i asked him about it and he called me an idiot and go and walk a dog...ha ha.. what a w***er
24. I spotted this add, where this guy is trying to palm off this bass as a 62 RI..he says its got a 70's neck? what with 60's decals?... he also calls it a stacked knob jazz..erm, i dont think so.. look at those tuners from the back, there not even straight.. gets on my nerves when people try and rip people off... am i missing something?
