1. oh thats what we do is Muck.. modding is getting to know bass..
2. i think the back of (that particular JP Heavy relic) looks very, erm... staged..)
3. I'd have to add a white pick guard and covers! Aaarggh no.. would never put a pickguard or holes into an clean look like that..
4. These are killer basses.. played one next to a USA Fender and from a aggressive tonal point of view the Farida kicked its ass... dont know what pickups they use but i liked them
5. These are just lovely.. you dont see many Custom Shop Fender without pickguards, or these colours.. its the Sonic Blue for me.. bound and blocked... hubbah.. eye watering prices.. £2999.00.... Seafoam Green Graffiti Yellow Tao Turquoise Sonic Blue
6.
Completely over the top price wise... Knobs are not original... his prices are a bit on the high side, if you look at the 73 P Bass. You can have my 62 Jazz for £10,000, how's that?
i want pics now!!
7.
I'd have to go for carbon dating. Actually...I'd have three or four basses made by the Fender Custom shop vintage master-elves...or whatever they call themselves now. And I'd drink the change.
8.
I am no vintage Fender expert, but i) I thought '62s were all stack knobs, and ii) shouldn't the "offset contour body " transfer be on the ball of the headstock?
The contour body can be next to the jazz bass logo.. but im confused about the knobs... cant see someone trying to get away with a $24,000 fake though..
9. My lord.. if this overpriced i dont care.. what a fantastic bass.... if i had the spare cash i would love it.... bit confused with the controls though? http://www.edroman.com/detail_sheets/fender_jbass_d746.html
10. Fugly..no way... thats awsome!!!! damn if i had the cash i would take it...
11. a bass collection should be considered
12. sorry to go off topic somewhat, but i guess im comparing the CIJ RI which is really the same bass as the AV 62 RI.. with a few differences if you really want stack knobs..... AV comes out at 1700 ish.. the CIJ comes out at 700 ish.. no brainner unless you really want the USA letters on your bass.. seems like they only seem crazy because there going up in price... in context there still a bargain compared to USA Fenders.. wether you think USA Fenders are too expensive is a different matter..
13.
That's great advice on the strings mate, never tried DR Low riders...do they do them in flat wounds?, i've got some Labella flats at the mo and they're wonderful. I'll have to look up the Korean MTD's.
i dont think so mate.. but generally, look out for Hex core strings rather than round core.. there a tighter string as the inner core slides with the wrap much less.. god im a geek also those pickups used on MIM jazz basses can sound a bit dull.. a non expensive custom pickup will tighten things up also
14. yeah it does Mike... dont worry i did the same.. edit.. sorry i worded that wrong.
15. Do you take your cable out when not playing... if you do there is something that is still switching the preamp on in your bass... it shouldnt run out in weeks....
16. Yeah i agree 900 is steep for the non USA version.. is that what they are? or is that the USA pickup version MM
17.
I would say its too early to tell how consistently made these new models are, but lets hope they are up to standard (and cheaper)
well ive never seen a badly made Japanese Fender..good quality is part of they way they do things... cant see why they would start making bad ones now... but the proof is in the pudding i guess..
18. Sweeet.. very cool mate.. the maple neck certainly adds some edge to the jazz bass tone.. more the gloss than the maple IMO though.. is that Inca silver or Firemist? or neither.. got to be inca being an S1..?
19.
£900 is a bit steep! Is that rrp? Gone are the days when I bought my MIJ P for £440 new!
Sign of the times.. bet there still consistently better than the US counterparts though... i really hope that Japanese Fender dont get to silly prices though..
20. I put the Lollar pickups in my Jazz bass today.. just... wow..... the bass in Q is a MIJ 62 Jazz bass from 1989 in Surf Green.. fitted with an Audere pre.. ive tried most of the great pups from Nords to Fralins to Sadowsky in my past jazz basses.. but i really really like these pups.. of course they bring the bass alive from the Japan pickups but good god.... its always easy to over state how good new gear is, but these are fantastic pickups.... they are the real deal when it comes to a jazz bass pickup....im really blown away at how good these things sound... there much smoother and less aggressive than the Fralin's i had.. but punchier than the Nordstrand NJse's i had in the CS Fender, and alot less compressed being a single coil... if you want a very aggressive J pickup though these are not for you... i always heard great things about Jason Lollar pickups and im glad to say its all true.... of course your ear will tell you but in my opinion these are as good as Jazz pickups get.. its amazing what a good pickup can do to a bass...this is now a proper world class jazz bass if you get the chance, try these pups in your jazz.!!. it sounds so so good with the Audere...the perfect super jazz tone...im wondering what these pups are like running a passive bass.. through the Aguilar amp there is not anything jazz wise that ive owned, that comes close to what my MIJ sounds like now...incredible pickups that cost alot less than the 200 squid Nordys.. thanks Clarky..
21.
Surf green and tort go together rather nicely - check out this CS bass at Coda Music http://www.coda-music.com/product_info.php...bedce6c3b2b4d83
OMG thats given me inspiration.. i thought there were too many colours in that combo before.. but that looks awsmome Clarky!! thanks...
22. what about Surf Green B.. or the off white of the Jazz you got from me...
23. Mate if you like Jazz basses why not get the MIM, change the strings to a tighter kind..like the hex core, DR low riders.. and add some more focused pups..i did this to a 5 string jazz and it worked.. those strings mad a big difference to a more focussed tone on the B.. will tighten up the B no doubt... i know you have had a JO before but the 55-01 has a great B.. especially with some FatStacks... Or maybe a Korean made MTD..
24. wise on the bass you will become.. coat got
