1. I ain't got twins, I's got triplets!!! Three stacker Jazzes. Top two are Fender CS, bottom one is Fender stacker Jazz with aged nitro finished body and mutes
2. What I'm selling here are the two stack pots (250/500k), the caps and the wires between each pot pair and the jack socket; the jack itself is not part of the sale. Asking £70-ish shipped within mainland UK. Don't really want to out any of my kit near those clowns on Evilbay if I can help it so much rather it all went here. Any Qs, fire away.
3. I might be interested in that but can't get to Leeds.
4. The reason they went to 3-bolt was to save money! Can you believe that? I, too, used to be of the opinion that the 3-bolt was weaker than the 4, though haven't heard of any issues. Still don't like it, though.
5.
Did you see my post 2 above yours? And that was fairly old "news" when I posted it!
Yeh, I did - after I'd posted mine! Anyway, you can still get s/h stuff offa Ishi if you've dealt with them before.
6. Still here, guys. No T-bass love here? Do not want to put this near the idiots on ebay.
7. Sorry, guys, been out of town. Still for sale, price dropped a little bit to £470. At that price I'm taking a loss and can't go any lower than that, fellas, as then it won't be worth me selling the bass. TomTom's been replied to. Anty - yeh shipping to NI is ok, but may cost a tad extra
8. Bassassin's beat me to it: Arbiter, all right. They were forever popping up in the second-hand shops up here around that time.
9. Anyone got a WAV file of the Wizards or the Kents?
10. Wizards, eh? Heard that name a lot on this forum. Anyone tried Kent Armstrongs, particularly the ceramic ones?
11. I'd go for a Nash, though some guys may not like the chunky neck. Hearing good reports about the Road Worn, as well. ANd then there's always CIJ kit. Check out Guitar Emporium and my old friends Ishibashi in Japan.
12. I had a pearl white 924 around 1983 and the front PJ pup was a bit weak. The early 3-band EQ was a bit ruff as well but it was the first affordable one at that time. Best of luck with the sale.
13. Dave, Thanx, that's all I need to know. Here comes another set of Ultras, then.
14. I like that V63. Early '90s with the 'John Holmes' headstock and cresting wave. One of the slimmer-necked models, before RIC shifted production and gave it a neck like a baseball bat. I like the '56, too. And a lot of wear up the dusty end?? Hefty price, though. I wonder if MG, V&R, ad nauseam will be firing off emails looking for a 'consignment' option?? :brow:
15. Nice bass. Just curious about the fretted one. Is that an MC924 with plastic surrounds on the pups and control area? Have a Monday a.m. bump!
16. Thx for that. Anyone got any experience with bass models?
17. As the title says. Am looking for a change on a Jazz (maybe a pair of DM Ultras again) but haven't heard any feedback on these.
18. There was a 2-pup version as well, equally hideous. I have only ever seen on of these in Klaus Blasquiz' book one the Fender Bass and I just dragged it out for a look-see. My God, there are some horrific basses near the end of that book that - thankfully - didn't make production! Check it out, as it's a good reference book.
19. Get yourself a Nash, mate. There are two up on UK ebay right now!
20. Bacchus do a headstock similar to that. And a body.
21. Who the F did you let at that?? I don't think all is lost, though. Although dirt and mositure will have already gotten in there, wenge - for I presume that's what I'm looking at - is a very dense wood and althoug has a lot of open 'pore' doesn't absorb too much water when dried. There is no reason that neck connot be fixed. It'll need cleaned and glued along with a couple of wenge stringers. Get a Pro to do it. Might cost a few quid but if there's an attachment to it, then no contest!
22. Re: set-ups. AFAIR, the UK distributors techs are meant to give the guitars a once-over when they arrived at the warehosue. I know Aribter did this in the past (except for the real cheapo acoustics) so there's absolutely no need for badly set-up stuff going out to dealers. And if I'd shown a badly set up guitar to a dealer, I'd expect him to sort it out before it went back on the shelf.
23. Synapse has the wooden body but CF neck. Seriously, though, if you're only going away for a few months there's no point shelling out on a L/XL series Steiny, or even the Synapse. You'd be better of picking up -if you can - one of those Traveller basses. I had one for a while and used to take it away with me. Had the 'stethoscope' thing that plugged into a plate that the piezo sat out so you could actually hear the bass. It had a single coil pup as well and you could blend that in with the piezo.
24. I nearly bought this model from GuitarGuitar last year. The Rick 4001CS was on the move so I raided the savings and went for a look at this fella. I loved it at first sight, esp the beautiful figuring on the BR fingerboard. The set up was fine, it looked ok but it didn't sound right to me. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Also, the volume, when rolled back a bit, alsmost disappeard. Now, having owned a '64 Jazz and still have a few contemporaries sitting around, this was soemthing I hadn't noticed before. Anyone else spotted this? I took a Road Worn one off the wall and immediately preferred it, though as some of you may know from previous postings by me, I couldn't get the 'Mexi' tag out of my opinionated brain and left the shop empty handed. I went back to try the CS again and it was sold(!!) but the got another one in and..... naahh. Not long after that I got Clarky's Nash (via Alanbass1) and, for me, that's my benchmark. That said, being a fiend for stack-knob Jazzes, I'm awaiting delivery of a new CS stacker relic from the 'States at £1k less then UK prices. And I know this one's set up good. Nice, eh?
