1.
it's a guitar!
hehe, I know, but I've been after a good s/h Guild D-55 for quite some time! As such, no longer considering trades.
2. That's cool as! He plays better than some fellas I've seen and heard!
3. Karlfer, I'll pass on the cabs, mate. Dunno about the Kasuga, though I know theyre' good basses. Most of the Jap ones from that era were.
4. Thatnks for the sentiments, guys. Selling these could not have come at a mor opportune moment as I was in GuitarGuitar (Edinburgh) yesterday and saw this below. Sure, it's not bass content but I've been hankering for one for a while!
5. I'm sorry, Karlfer, It's been on the cards a while; can't bear to look at these things any longer.
6. If there was ever a beer made for JH, this is it!
7.
These pickups came from an 88-89 MIJ Fender Jazz fretless bass. They are in good condition, per the picture below. My multimeter measured the DC resistances as 7.1 kOhm and 6.8 kOhm. Price is £45 inc. P&P ovno. Thanks for looking.
PM'd
8. Ok, right now these are for sale so someone take them off my hands, please! August 2000 4001V63 in Fireglo and an August 1973 4001. The 4001 was originally black but at some point it was stripped back to natural; it currently retains the natural look with a tung oil and wax finish. Original hardware bar the reissue horsie and a 7-screw bridge assembly. The selector switch tip has recently fractured and there is a weird resin fill on the rear side of the cresting wave. This bass has a very slim neck and a refret is due. Neck nice and straight and strung with .040 - .095. The first inlay is rising up a little bit but there is nothing wrong with the truss rods, at all. Comes with non-RIC case. No longer for sale. The V63 is in good condition bar some guitar stand damage on the base which has been touched up. There are no other issues. This bass has the fuller neck profile and again is strung .040 - .095. Comes with silver RIC case. Looking for £1500. Sold!! I've had many Ricks these past ten years since my GAS for them was re-ignited. But RIC QC and excuses, the rabid Rickenwaffen fanboi sabre-rattling and now the unbelievable story of the Kasuga Rickenfaker seller on this forum sees me moving them on. And before anyone sparks up citing this sale as an impetuous reaction, bear in mind I've floated these guys before; John Hall's behaviour towards the Kasuga seller was the catalsyt for me moving them on for good! Not considering trades, now, as have just picked up an acoustic I've been after for a while Coupla pix up for now but PM me if you require more. . I am also willing to consider payment options.
9. 'I put this bass on Ebay 3 times last week, but my ad was pulled and then my account was suspended as Rickenbacker got upset. John Hall was incredibly rude to me, when I challenged their censorship and he signed off with "have a nice life" ! Unbelievable. I had refined the ad so that it simply said "Bass guitar" and I didn't even offer a description!' WTF?? Did he get ahold of your email address via ebay? And can you PM me exactly what he said? This is a prime example of the Rickenwaffen at their sycophantic, supercilious best! Hall and his fanbois need to GET a life and stop trawling the net for Rickenfaker ads! Right now, I'm on the borderline of selling off the three Rics I have left - who the hell wants to support the product of a CEO who takes to the net in that manner?? I have seen MISTER Hall in action on the web and I don't doubt for one minute he insulted you in the manner that you state. You'll have no problem shifting that here, mate, and when you do go and tell that bitter wee man that you finally sold your RICKENBACKER copy, and without incurring ebay charges. Sickened by this!
10. My God.... part of teenage years. I had an IC100S for my first bass head, along with the 2 x 15" cab. Have a bump for the memories.
11. Cue drummer joke........ How do you know when there's a drummer at your front door? The knocking speeds up and slows down...... and speeds up!
12. Recent ebay purchase of purportedly unknown pickups. Tall pole-pieces, cloth-covered wire, grey bobbin. The wire looks really aged. I doubt very much these are mid '60s Fender pups but that they might be a CBS 'clone', as I've seen such on the web. Haven't metered them.
13.
And most pop stars today look really cool don't they... er NOT
I wouldn't know. Those '80s coats, though........
14. Disappointed there was nothing about 'Big Time' and the drumsticks! But, dear God, did you see the dodgy 1980's long coats that musos wore in those days??
15. Yeah, I heard that they were on the road again. Never seen 'em live.
16. Bruce Foxton on Eton Rifles Th guy out of Love Affair on Everlasting Love Doug Pinninck!! Too many others to mention. A crap one for me was Kim Deal's sound with The Pixies!
17. How it used to be. And it was bloody good! Incidentally, pot the Viv Savage keybaord hands at 3:51 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP8nGNbk7oQ
18. The reason that I bought the Alembic was that I was after a Chapman Stick at the time and the seller offered me such a good deal on the pair that I went for it. The bass did not go down well - looks or sound - with my then band and the fact that I was pretty much rooted to the spot with the 27volt(?) phantom power box pissed me off no end. It lasted 3 months and I traded it for...........a Status Series II !!!
19.
Yes, sorry, I mixed them up. Here's Casady's version:
Weren't these Wickersham electronics? If so, you may as well call it Alembicised. Looks sh*t, though.
20. Njoy the bass when she arrives, Pete.
21. I forgot about Alembic. I got a Series 1 Point and grew to detest it. The band (at the time) hated it as well.
22. Will do, Barrie. Hope all's well.

Bass Player magazine did a review of the Galaxy back in the early '90s. Love the shape of that one and the Garland - cool, circular pups!!
24. I recently got this: A Fender Bass for Britain, which is about the slab-bodied Precision. I don't think it's well written and, for something that was 13 years in the making, I can't helpt feel there should have been more to it. Anyway, handy to have for any Fenderhead.
