1. Do the pups have the grounding plates attached?
2. Offering these here first. I have two RIC guitars I'd like to move on:-

RIC 660 DCM 75th Anniversary. Very, very rare guitar. Comes with case and certificate and is as new. Asking £1800[s]ovno[/s]
RIC 660 Tom Petty 12. Comes with case and certificate. Asking £1700ovno - SOLD!!
Pix to follow.
3. They should reissue the Sienna Sunburst finish. Guess they may if they've resuurected this finish.
4. I've got one in Honeyburst. Excellent bass but the heaviest of all my Jazzes, prob due to the Ash. A really good active bass, if a little bit 'hi-fi' on some of the trim-pot settings. PS: that price is a bargain!!
5. Ok, am back in UK on 17th June if anyone wants to go ahead with what they had expressed interest in.
6. I'm not going to say he's sh*t or can't play but one guy I have no time for in bass-playing stakes is Billy Sheehan. Just don't get him, at all.
7. The WEM Copycat: what a beast!! Remember seeing Brian Robertson in Lizzy running two of 'em.
8. That first track wouldn't sound out of place in the '80s. I'll pass, thanks.
9. Interest in body...............
10. Actually, it is a good bass and sounds lovely. However, I've got five fretless Jazzes (3 Jaco types) so this one has to go. You're right about that neck price and I may revise it.
11. I agree - awful! Don't like blocks at the best of times but black on maple is kak!
12. Cheers for that. Will also have a look in Hobgoblin next time I'm down south.
13. The two Nashes I owned had the best sustain of any Jazz I've had, bar the Blade. Guess it's a combo of a good neck/body contact and the slightly fuller neck; the DiMarzios will simply amplify all that.
14.
No it is two chords only on a Cajun box, one on push, one on pull. One button plays the bass note, the other the chord so you can get that ump - pah effect (or um - pah - pah if you're in 3/4). You also play them in crossed position (like a blues harp) so on a box in C you actually play in G. The final complication is that a true cajun box is not tuned in equal temperment like the frets on a bass. Depending on the tuner the third, fourth and seventh will be flattened by up to 15 cents. This is to make it sound sweeter when played cross style but means that if you play them straight they sound odd. However the good news is that most european boxes are tuned normally which makes life simpler. Steve
I've often fancied getting Cajun box; remember looking at 'em on ebay a few years back. Any tips, Oggiesnr?
15. Well done! Well done to all!
16. Ludicrous. Saw a battered, Oly white (refin) one in the CME a few years back for $48K. Sure, they're worth money but that much? Not for me. Not even if I had the coin.
17.
Yeah, the fluidity of the music is one of the things I enjoy, we just learn the song's parts then keep an eye on the singer/drummer to know when to change. We also seem to add in new sections and dynamics all the time on the fly and somehow get it sounding smooth. Totally different to my other band that's very strict songs (though still very fun). We tend to do our own take on it, rather than traditional numbers we play zydeco in a very ska style. We throw in a lot of popular songs as covers (in a zydeco way). Here's a live vid from Zydecozity that features all of us very drunk and me feeling very aware that someone's pointing a camera at me while I'm playing a fast bit at the start. 18.
I was in a band with Kim (the accordionist) from Deaf Heights for several years. We did a fair chunk of the Cajun and Zydeco repertoire, plus Kim's own rather eccentric compositions. There were some fun gigs with that band, though the lineup changed that often that there were some patchy ones too. It did get me into listening to guys like Nathan Abshire and Clifton Chenier though, which is a good thing.
Good to hear. mate!
