1. In the liner notes for the CD reissue of the "Jaco Pastorius" album, Pat Metheny refers to "a horribly inaccurate, botched biography" of Pastorius. I assume he is referring to the Bill Milkowski biography; does anyone know why Metheny is so scathing of the book, or is he referring to another book I am unaware of?
2. Bass: Another Zon Legacy. Guitar: Couple of different Hamers & a Musicman Luke.
3. On hold pending the usual stuff.
4. Oh wow! You've got a Vinnie! Cool as f***!
5. The legendary 18 string Modulus is in that photo. That's a 6 string bass with each string having two octave strings. Allan Woody looks like Bob Carolgees from Tiswas in that photo.
6. "Bloody hell these ads move down the list quick" BUMP
7.
Would certainly make a good pair
I know - it's doing my head in. I can't possibly justify that amount of money for a bass........but it's just so gorgeous.
8.
You could always plump for the previous version of his sig p-bass, in West Ham colours
That first edition of the Steve Harris bass was really very good. They change hands for twice what they originally cost now.
9.
So they are human after all and can be treated as such!?!?
I wouldn't go as far as to say that.
10. When I bought my first Rick 4001 in 1979 I paid £204 for it..........you couldn't get a Rick case for that now. And I remember when this place was all fields......
11. Bugger off - I saw it first. It was on last week but it didn't sell. I'm desperately selling off everything I own so I can buy it.
12. You need to LISTEN. It's also by no means guaranteed that you will gel with a particular drummer. I've played with really good drummers that I just haven't had any real link with & less able players where we played stuff that just worked really well. When it does happen it feels f***ing brilliant.
13. I've posted my Legacy fretless in a thread before, but here it is again: It's rather fantastic. This is the one that's killing me at the moment - made for this years NAMM show with a mango wood top. I've got to change my underpants every time I look at it...... 14. It would have to be a SANDberg........... Sorry, that was rubbish.
15. Back up for sale at scrumptious new price. I'm looking for £500 My thirst for graphite must be quenched.

24 fret bass.
I have never tried a carbon fibre neck, what are they like?
They probably are one of those things you need to try. I love them for their stability and evenness of tone & response. Some carbon fibre necked basses can sound very bright, but I've always found Zon basses to have a comparatively warm sound due to the great active circuits they use (made specially for them by Polyfusion).
Mansons in London is the only place i can think of for Zons..they have a wonderfull collection of them...Big £ though
London? I think you'll find it's in Exeter. They've got some nice Sonus models, but they never have bugger all if you're looking for a Legacy.
17. That is one awesome looking bass!
18. RhysP

24 fret bass.

Don't know what your opinions on carbon fibre necks are, but: http://www.mansons.co.uk/shopping/categori...-4-bass-guitar/ Awesome bass & £51.00 change from your £2000.
19.
I think his instrument has captured many a young lady.. fnar fnar
And he has the polaroids to prove it, apparently.....
20. I've never even tried to play it. Ever. I heard it, thought "that sounds like hard work" and left it at that.
21. I'm 44, in constant pain & waiting to have spinal surgery but I'm still thinking of getting an SVT rig....... Seriously, put your health first, you don't want to make your back worse. I've felt like I'm 84 for the past 18 months.
22.
You know, sometimes it just reminds me of those 12-year old kiddies playing Jamiroquai stuff... OK, they KNOW the notes maybe, but they aren't tight at the end (and, with a bit more practice, I think, they could..), but, when, especially, being a bassist, what's the point then? But, then again, they get sweetest applauses (Basschat is not an exeption, sorry..), just because of what? Just because they're young and they try to come over the stuff, that normally shouldn't be taken by a kid?
That's the most patronising thing I've ever read.
You know, I could probably taken one of those Hadrien Feraud's solos, then get it down to the deepest f*ckin' bottom, but, rhythmically and musically (phrasing and stuff), I KNOW I couldn't make it, so, what's the point then? You'd praise me just for trying? Thanks, but I don't need that.
Maybe I missed something, but I didn't think this thread was about what YOU need or what YOU think is the point of anything. I'm not a supreme bass god like this Faithless guy Zoe, but I honestly thought you're playing was pretty good there.
23. I suppose even the beards & Fair isle jumpers of the folk musician are an image of sorts, aren't they? OK, I give up on this one.
24.
I am alluding to your using a non-commercial genre of pub music in defence of the argument that dress is not important in a band, when everyone has been saying it is if you want to get beyond the pubs, is a bit like putting your b0ll0cks in a golf ball washer.
Where did I say the folk gigs were in pubs? A lot of the things I see are in small to medium sized theatre venues. I'm not talking about some sh*tty acoustic strumalong in the back room of a bar.
25.
When was the last time you saw acoustic folk music a Wembley Arena?
Eh? Where did Wembley Arena come from? I must have missed a few posts.
