1. Pick boy Edge 1.14 & 0.60 Carbon graphite picks. Thin, light and very rigid.
2. Herbie Flowers has had a set of these on his old Fender Jazz for about 30 years. I put a set on an old Hondo bass I had years ago & I quite liked them (I think they may have been Picato nylon tap wounds) - I'm actually thinking of getting a set for my bass in the next couple of weeks.
3. What about that blue/green Roscoe? That was referred to as "One of the resident Basschat bikes" when I posted a link to it the other month.
4. Martin Mendez is a great player & Opeth are a superb band. According to the Opeth website he uses Fender TB- 1200 amps & Fender 8x10 cabs. His basses are mainly Fender Marcus Miller Signature Jazz basses.
5. Maybe it's because they have to spend their spare money on picks so can't afford a custom build. I've never really thought about this before, but I when I used to play mainly fingerstyle & all that stupid slappity thumb stuff I used a custom built bass, but when I returned to playing mainly with a pick I stopped using the custom build & went back to using an "off the shelf" jazz type bass. I think it's just that fingerstyle slappity players tend to be a bunch of egomaniac narcissistic ponces so they go for the flashy custom built basses.....
6. Great - ta for the info! (I'd love to get myself one of those twin necks but as I'm waiting to have spinal surgery I don't think they'd be very good for my back!)
7. There also appears to be a volume knob missing that he hasn't mentioned. Great price though.
8. I went round to get this bass from the guy - next thing I know I've woken up in a hotel room in Marseilles with a blinding headache, a sore arse and no recollection of the last 72 hours whatsoever. Still, it's a nice bass though......
9. I've been drooling over that Zon Legacy for weeks now - bloody lovely.
10. That's a lovely looking bass. Troy from Mastodon uses a Godlyke very similar to that (his is fretted though).
11. You might want to check your spelling in your first post, as you've just admitted to "touching an old squire", which has started me giggling uncontrollably. Just to echo what everyone else has said, they are all very narrow at the nut (which is why I can't get on with Jazz basses any more) but the shape (or profile) of the neck varies from model to model. You'd probably really need to play the specific model you're after to make sure you're comfortable with it. Having said that, I think the neck on the Geddy bass is lovely, even though I don't like Jazz necks.
12. Lovely!! Are they both Modulators?
13. Welcome! Please post some pictures of your Shergold twin necks when you get a chance!
14. There's an old Gordon Smith Gypsy bass on Ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ultra-rare-Gordon-Sm...3%3A11|294%3A50 I remember these from advertisements in "International Musician" because of the rotating pickups - I seem to remember John Wetton being in the ads so he may have been an endorser at one point. Never played a Gordon Smith Bass but their guitars are very good; excellent build quality and play superbly well.
15. That looks absolutely bloody lovely. Bet it sounds pretty damn good too.
16. When you are shunned by polite society & have to seek refuge on the internet with others of your kind......
17.
Well (OT), the Warwick Streamer bass was first produced under licence of Spector. After the contractual term ended Warwick continued to produce this bass without permission, much to the annoyance of Stuart Spector who felt ripped off...
I never knew that. I wonder why Stuart Spector never got all litigious on Warwicks ass?
18. I was expecting them to have pictures of Spiderman or the Fantastic Four on them. I got quite excited.
19. I'll happily buy secondhand gear & have got some incredible bargains doing so.
20.
Or to say it's a Spector clone. . .
"For sale - Spector copy by Warwick. Unlike other Warwick basses this one does not look like a turd on a stick...."
21. That's a great colour, and even with the extra £100 that's still a bloody good price for a secondhand Rick 4003 (especially from a shop).
22. That's cheating that is......
23. Here we go: http://www.adamblackguitarcompany.co.uk/ar...ex-artists.html
24. In their cases flat under a bed will be fine in my experience. I've got guitars & basses that I don't play for 6 months at a time or more that I store like that & they've always been fine.
25.
Didn't see it so don't know what it was, but is it the same one she plays in this video?
I rather enjoyed that - thanks for posting it!
