  1. If it has to be labelled as one, then I'd say it should be labelled as the one where the parts of the bass are in the majority. So, a 72 for yours. Or... just label it fairly! This Bass Direct bass should be titled as 'Fender bista bass with unknown body, 62 neck with new fretboard and some original 62 parts'.
  2. Given the emotional content of this thread do you genuinely believe your comments help? If so, please can you be so kind as to advise how they are constructive as I have missed this.
  3. I don't think anyone else though you were trying to take over. Knowing you're not alone in a situation can definitely be therapeutic.
  4. Most of these are Hercules, some are String Swing, which are also decent. I've put more up in the studio since that photo was taken and have 8 more on walls in the house. None have failed yet!
  5. Hate to say it, but don't be surprised if your collection ends up in a heap on the floor with a wall mount like that. The distance from the wall will add much more pressure on the screws holding the thing up. Get a few second hand Hercules wall mounts. I have 30 or so of them, some mounted to dry wall (with the right rawl plugs) and they've not let me down carrying heavy loads (some 7 string basses) for years. They're not a foot proud of the wall either! You can normally pick them up for a tenner second hand, maybe less if you get someone selling a batch.
  6. I suppose without knowing where the body came from and who did the change over of the fretboard and electronics etc. it makes the value hugely subjective. But, I cannot see a day where it can be fairly called a '62 unless the replacement body can be verified as also a '62, which I'd doubt! If the body/fretboard were hand crafted by a known and respected luthier (Shuker, ACG, Sei etc.) then maybe 2k might be not crazy high. But for all we know it could be a far eastern replacement (probably not). It'd be good to know why all these changes happened, where the new parts came from and who assembled it. With that, the price might be more understandable. I think asking 4.5k for it as it sits regardless of who did what is a joke.
  7. I still don't see the value at that price. The only wood thats maybe from 62 is the maple part of the neck. £2250 would be a price I genuinely think would be a huge struggle to sell it for as it sits. I can see this being sold and not long after being resold elsewhere with less of a description and still claiming it to be a '62. At least BD have been honest in their description, though in the title they definitely should make it clearer.
  8. Actually, I believe there is only one left alive (Otis Williams), so my comment in the singular was grammatically correct!
  9. Who'd of thunk people might not want to pay over £7000 for a bass made from a piece of wood half eaten by worms! I suppose there's merit in the experimental nature of the build, but with a pre-clearance price of over £7000, you'd have to be utterly insane to buy one...
  10. Oasis. What a pair of unspeakable twàts.
  11. I've found a few choice things in CC over the years... Years ago in the Basildon one, I found the very first Warwick Vampyre ever made, serial 1001. Confirmed by Hans P Wilfer via email. Also recently found a Gibson Les Paul Studio signed by 30 or so legends including Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, Tony Iommi, Meat Loaf etc. Again, independently confirmed. Some odd treasures do pop up in CC from time to time!
  12. This is in the Colchester store, saw it there a while back. It's such an incredibly niche instrument that they will struggle to sell it! If anyone is interested, send them an offer via email, they tend to be quite negotiable on the niche things that haven't sold in a while.
  13. These are super heavy, but they are THE best bass combo ever made in my humble opinion. I've had two in the past and £200 for one of these with the tone and flexibility (and volume!) is super cheap... If I didn't have an Eden WT1205 and 610 cab (and live in Essex) I'd have taken this.
  14. Stick it on eBay for collection only at £1 no reserve and set the auction to run for 7 days ending on Sunday at 7pm. Add 10 good solid pictures and a non-AI description and it will sell. I'd estimate £150-£180. Happy to set the auction up if you send me some pictures, can run it as benefitting charity etc.
  15. Assuming the whole drumkit isn't £1? Might be worth adding a price that reflects what you're looking for before a mod comes along to tell you the same!
  16. Likewise to a degree. I'd never go out of my way and spend top dollar on such things. This was something I stumbled across, took a punt on as it was priced less than the value of the guitar itself, then did the research on and found out it has some quite amazing signatures. Scott Rowley, who was the Chief Editor for Classic Rock Magazine (who ran the event) has responded this morning essentially confirming it's legitimacy (and offering to help ID the last 3 or 4 signatures) as he signed it himself, which gives me a great trial of provenance along with the pictures of Alice, Steven, Francis, Rick, Ian Hunter and Lisa Ronson holding the guitar. I've no desire to sell it, I think it's unbelievably cool and something I want to hold on to.
  17. It's just arrived... Of all the places something like this could have come from, it came from Cash Converters. Yup. Good old Cash Converters. I took a huge punt on it when I noticed Alice Cooper's autograph. Certainly wasn't anywhere near convinced it was legitimate when I bought it. But... having spent most of last night trying to find any information, I managed to find the 4 photos of Alice, Steven, Francis, Rick and Ian. All holding this guitar, and all with signature markings on the guitar they are holding that match exactly the position of the signatures on this one I now have in hand. I reached out to Warwick Stone (anyone that watches Pawn Stars would know him as the British chap that values all of their Rock memorabilia). He responsed by email yesterday evening after having seen the guitar and the photos I posted here and confirmed it was legitimate. I've also reached out directly to Ian Hunter and Jeff Wayne (as I found their email addresses) as well as Gibson's current CEO, Cesar. Hopefully one of those will respond and be able to give me some more clues as to some of the other signatures! Identified signatures so far: Alice Cooper (Alice Cooper) Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) Duff McKagan (Guns n Roses) Francis Rossi (Status Quo) Rick Parfitt (Status Quo) Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) Kerry King (Slayer) Meat Loaf (Meat Loaf) Pearl Aday (Meat Loaf's Daughter) Mick Ralph (Mott The Hoople/Bad Company) Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) Jeff Wayne (War Of The Worlds etc.) Ian Paice (Deep Purple) Jacky Paice (Ian's Wife) Joe Elliot (Def Leopard) Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) Vinnie Appice (Dio/Black Sabbath) Richard Barbieri (Japan/Porcupine Tree) Chris Robertson (Black Stone Cherry) Ben Wells (Black Stone Cherry) John Fred Young (Black Stone Cherry) Steve Jewell (Black Stone Cherry) Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) Scott Ian (Anthrax) Scott Rowley (Classic Rock Editor & Chief) Suzi Ronson (Mick Ronson's Wife) The below were also at the event this guitar was signed (2007 3rd Annual Classic Rock Roll Of Honour) but I can't match signatures... Jeff Beck Nick Mason Lemmy Joan Jett Jimmy Page A hell of a find...
  18. Conklin USA Sidewinder Strings: 8 Frets: 24 Scale: 35 Pickups: 11 (2 magnetic, 8 individual Piezo, 1 midi) Controls: 9
  19. Duff's signature is from 2007 so it can't be from 2011. I'm almost certain the vast majority of signatures are from after 28th September 2007 but not too far from that date as thats the date of build of the guitar according to the serial number. So far I'm pretty sure this guitar has the following signatures on it: Alice Cooper Geezer Butler Duff McKagan Francis Rossi Rick Parfitt Steven Tyler Kerry King Meat Loaf Black Stone Cherry Mick Ralph Ian Hunter Jeff Wayne After some AI assisted Internet searching, it does very much appear to be legitimate... The signature placements match to these evidential pictures:
  20. Not Steve Harris I'm afraid, I've seen his signature before and its much more streamline. On closer inspection, it looks very much like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith... The white one is a verified exemplar. I should have it in hand tomorrow for a much better inspection.
  21. Just seen Duff McKagan's signature on it too... About an inch under the bridge, it looks upside-down in the picture and has an '07' next to it. Looking at examples, Duff does sign with the year too, so this would be likely from 2007.
