  1. Could be... I didn't have the minerals left in me to move everything around yesterday (recovering from a few weeks of illness). That's definitely my next port of call before potentially re-valving. Might also look at getting a Furman power conditioner...
  2. As a precaution, all batteries in the basses I used yesterday had their batteries checked and changed. The issue remains. Curiously, on the other side of my little studio is a Marshall JVM410H and a Blackstar Series One 100, both with plenty of valves between them and both functioning without issue.
  3. Technical question for you technical lot... Why would two amp, both not played in 3 weeks, both not moved or touched since last played and both worked perfectly 3 weeks ago, suddenly now both seem to be producing much less power and making their respective cabs sound a little farty? I've tried different cables, basses, etc. the problem seems to lie with the amps. One amp is a Mesa Big Block 750 and the other a Purple Chili Phatt Bass 750. Both have matching cabs. Both are vavle pre-amps with solid state power sections. Without having much of an idea about anything, could it be possible that we had a power surge and it affected the pre-amp valves in both heads simultaneously? That's the only thing I can think of that might have affected both of them at the same time... Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks, Russ.
  4. I will fight you for that... 9 rounds of overarm 'grandad' style boxing!
  5. I think the contents of this thread gave them a reasonable cross section of the goings on of Basschat! Anyway, back to the fighting!!!
  6. I'm sure Newtone strings will make a set suitable.
  7. I have a 6 string Alien, I used the Warwick Red Labels. Sure there are 'better' strings out there, but for the money, the Red Labels are really quite good indeed...
  8. This is the only rig on BC at the moment that I keep coming back to... major lust for this one!
  9. Oh yeah, well I think you're dreadless and the advice is worthful.
  10. I've never taken a lesson (for my sins) but some years ago I did give a few lessons. I had both a second amp and a spare bass (as well as a few other spare bits and pieces) to make sure if someone turned up with equipment that was, shall we say, below par, then they'd at least have a half decent set up to use during the lesson. I'd also take a guess that the chap you're speaking to probably isn't great at standard notation hence trying to push you into tab. Honestly, I'd say find someone that can give you the kind of lesson you want, it sounds potentially like this chap won't fulfil your learning needs.
  11. I suppose it depends on what side of the bed he's gotten up on. My experience is just that, my experience. Glad to hear that at least some have had a far better experience!
  12. The main problem (in my opinion based on several interactions) with BD is Marcus (not Mark). Unbelievably rude and arrogant - acts in such a condescending and patronising way, absolutely no excuse for that - it's been something that's been said on here many many times. Honestly, I don't understand why Mark keeps him around. Lose him, hire someone that can at least act like they give a single toss, and BD would hugely benefit.
  13. I had an identical Vampyre to this a while back, it was serial number 001 confirmed to be the very first ever made by Hans P Wilfer. Regret selling it!
  14. I very much wish... they have increased by £1300pm (outgoings, not incomings). Day care, mortgage, utilities etc etc. It all adds up very quickly. Crippling times.
  15. Compared to this time last year my outgoings have increased by somewhere in the order of £1300 per month. That's a Stingray per month I can now not afford, and I couldn't afford that last year either! Thank god I'm merely a figment of my own imagination otherwise I'd start getting all depressed and what not.
  16. I believe 12 rounds of bare knuckle boxing are in order to solve this dispute. Over-arm style of course. My monies on the grumpy old curmudgeon. 😆

  18. No problem with doing that. My comment was just in response to someone else's comment about my prior comment mentioning it being 'sub £200'. 👍
  19. It was... looks like the seller has put it back up to the original price. I have gone completely mental, yet...
  20. A thou is super cheap for this bass. Probably the best bargain on BC at the moment. T'were it a 6, it'd already be at home with me!
  21. It'll have a luggage tag on it thus you can 'prove' you flew out there with it.
  22. Search "RRP Damage Guitar" in eBay and you'll find most of their damaged stock.
