  1. oh cool. yes it had a flat fretboard. learnt a new word slab fingerboard. thanks. sounds like you built a gem of a bass.
  2. its felt so different. It had flatwounds and the foam in the metal shielding at bridge was intact. i just wonder if the neck profile is made in any other brands. i looked up moollon but it is slightly differenr and the wait is 30-36 months lol.
  3. Oh wow. thanks for informing me. so many basses ive never unearthed before
  4. hey. I popped into the yamaha store in london today. i didn't see this bass. what model is this?
  5. I popped into the bass gallery in camden earlier today and tried four basses: *fender P bass 1961 *fender P bass 1975 *fender P bass professional 2015 *yamaha bb2024 On the fenders, the necks was so so different. The 2015 felt in between a jazz and P. I really liked it. The 75 felt the most awkward to me. chunky in terms of depth as well as being rather sticky. I didn't like it. The 61........................ Wow it felt completely different to anything i have have played. The shaped seemed like a very shallow U but the fretboard was wide and flat. You would think that it would feel weird but it honestly didn't. The 2015 Felt like similar to my squier in terms of the shape but miles better. Trying out the four above made me realise the importance of getting a bass in your hands to see if you gel with it. Shame the 61 fender was 8K loool.
  6. looool you are not wrong lol. i got it with my bass in 2008.
  7. i didn't answer the question sorry. I had the amp master volume at 9 o'clock with the bass control in the off position. no sound would come out of amp. When i increased the bass volume the amp transmitted sound when i adjusted the tone knob no sound difference could be heard (treble on and off)
  8. Just got back from the luthier near me who fixed my jack port. Its not the bass as we tried with different amps and cords. The tone knob works. New amp it is then. Thanks alot for the helpful input
  9. hey thanks for responding. i just lowered the master volume to 9 o'clock. I had all the my knobs on bass off when i increased the tone and volume no difference.
  10. hi, im a novice and would like some advice. I have a squirer affinity P bass 2008 and a stagg 20Ba amp combo. The issue i am having is that i hear no difference when i use the tone knob on the bass. the amp is set flat so bass, treble and mids are at 12 o'clock. The amp does distort sometimes in a way where maybe the bass is to much. if i lower the bass knob nothing changes. whatever configuration i try the tone sounds exactly the same. I recently got my bass fixed as the jack wire had come loose. he also cleaned the pots as they was making a crackling sound. all on that side is good. i presume the first protocol would be to try bass and amp with different leads, basses and amps.
  11. thanks. I have a squirer P bass. I will head down to the bass gallery to try american and japanese P basses. They only have a maple fretboard japan P.
