1. I could cry. In fact, I think I will. Just a little bit.
2. The 'Orkney' thing is a well-known technique designed to discourage viewing before purchase. It's a scam.
3. Oooh... listened to it a few times now, and I've just clicked that there's a fairly intensive instrumental break featuring just bass, drums and guitar. No walls of overdubs, just... the trio. Mint.. it doesn't happen very often these days.
4. I'd spend 2K tooling around America looking for an awesome £3K (inc. tax!) vintage Fender.
5. Full stream here....
6. I wonder why the service is so random?
7. Not long for this world, by all accounts. One of my heroes. http://www.arktimes.com/RockCandy/archives/2012/04/17/levon-helm-in-the-final-stages-of-his-battle-with-cancer
8.
About time you came home dude. Nice one Chris
'Home' is the right word, Chris. I've just listened to a recording from a gig this weekend, and the tone is absolutely on-the-button - everything I've been looking for over the years. These amps do mids like no other.
9. I took a new photo this weekend - can't resist it:
10. Yeah - the headcase looks cool, but as it's Mesa they're about £3m each
11.
If I were paying £150 I would expect them to drink all night, have crappy gear that doesn't work properly, and get most of the songs a bit wrong.
A reasonable expectation - quite a few of the bands around here would surprise you, though.
12.
Lol. I play in a hobby band. I wasn't talking about the musicianship. That's not what is being discussed, it's the proffesionalism I'm talking about.
Can you give us an example?
13.
You can tell hobby bands a mile off and they deserve to be paid £200 a gig.
Cobblers. Some of the hobby bands round our way would knock your socks off.
14. I had one of these.. it was gorgeous, and weight just short of nothing. I wish I'd hung on to it.
15.
It's not even that (I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it). I just don't see what relevance the buyer's BC membership status has. To me, it's like saying "I hope someone in Aberdeen won it", just because I live in Aberdeen.
It's a good price, so Buckets was probably just hoping a BC'er was the lucky buyer. Y'know, wishing some good fortune on his BC peers. It ain't rocket salad...
16.
I know I'm in the minority here so I'll keep this short, but I applaud Rickenbacker for protecting their interests. I think there may be a few might agree, but sight the CEO's methods as bully boy tactics. Well, you know what, I bet he's sick to the back teeth of asking nicely and there comes a point when pretty please don't work anymore. If you want to manufacture a bass in a far eastern place (other points of the compass available on request) then go design your own original shape and see how many you sell!
Of course he's entitled to, but he should focus his efforts on the manufacturers and importers who are profiting from it, not the little guys.
17. I would never consider Nick Mason to be average... he should stop putting himself down.
18. OT, but.. I know Mr. Peart idolised Freddie Grueber, but whatever he learned after getting lessons from him, it wasn't good IMO. I actually think he swings less these days.,,
19.
Is there much noise from the Mesa fan? I ask as I had a Scout some years back and the fan noise used to hack me off, when running at home, though I have a feeling newer ones are a lot quieter.
You can hear it, but it doesn't bother me, even when I'm plunking away in the house.
20.
I get the strange feeling you like fenders...... Sunburst ones...
Only ones with rosewood necks.
21. I've been through loads of amps over the years - it's my weakness. Nothing's ever sounded as good as when I would occasionally pull the head out of my Walkabout Scout and run it through the Bergs. It was always a glorious noise. I sold the Walkabout Scout a while ago, and I've been looking for that sound ever since.. and now I've found it. A MESA Walkabout head. Gigged it a few times now, and it's everything I remember. It's hard to describe - smooth, solid notes that are 'alive', and jump out the cabs. Love it, love it, love it. Happy days...

Just sold an amp to Tony - Quick payment, and he remained very patient and understanding while I was messed around beyond belief by the courier. Thanks, Tony - and again, apologies!
23. But if you were head of Marketing, and you were consistently hopeless at it, it would be justified :-)
24. Carouselambra. Awesome.
25.
...fair point. I guess I mean it wont be as good as a "proper" product film that is scripted and edited, and they can take their time over.
To be fair, he's been doing this a while now and he never seems to get better at it. Compare this to the like of Genz etc's. efforts at trade shows. They make Ashdown look a bit silly.
