1. I echo everything mentioned earlier. Acoustic basses ceased to have a point when the 90's unplugged craze wore off.
 2. That is SUCH a quintessential Disney sound. Amazing.
 3. Thunderbird has PM'd their response to me, and I have to say that while it's not above-and-beyond EPIC customer service, IMO it's perfectly reasonable.
 4.
the" I don't really care attitude" that is what has annoyed me more than the strings
Can you C&P what they said, please?
 5.
What am I missing please?
You might get hit with a handling charge, which could wipe out your £13.
 6. I'm amazed the whole set were dead. One in a pack is fair enough, but the whole set? That's just extremely bad luck.
 7. It's a crappy pic, but it looks to me like the truss adjustment is at the headstock, suggesting MIM...?
 8.
At least it has some Richard Wright on it, otherwise would it really be Floyd?
I believe it was recorded around the time of The Division Bell, which came out of Gilmour, Wright and Mason jams. So yes, I think it does qualify as Floyd. If you think Floyd are Floyd without Roger, that is.
 9. Rush would die on their arses at Glastonbury.
 10. I don't get sick of being 'just' the bass player. If I have a vested interest in the recording, I'm usually there 'till the bitter end. If it's a session, I'll do two takes, drop in any cheeky fixes, and vamoosh.
 11. Let's not forget Leonard Cohen, The Band, Diana Krall and, er... Celine Dion. Canada's a pretty cool country, all-told.
 12.
I would be rather surprised given the type of fills and the swell of the notes, particularly in the slow bits.
This is what I was alluding to earlier. Prepare to be surprised...
Iceman: “Alannah, one more question: On theoriginal Version of “Black Velvet”, I was alwaysfascinated by the bass player …..but there is arumour that it wasn’t a real bass!? What’s about it?” Alannah Myles: “It wasn’t a real bass, it was akeyboard! A lot of bass players asked for this, Ithink it was a Korg, with a toggle switch, so hecould bend the notes!” (Laughs)
source
Hello fellow bassists, apologies for the late posting but I just stumbled across this thread. I can confirm 100% that the bass on Black Velvet is a sample of a fretless bass. It was played by the producer Dave Tyson. I believe it was an Akai S900 Sampler How can I be sure? I played the bass guitar on the record, appeared in several videos and toured with Alannah in the late 80's. BTW the bass referred to in the Black Velvet video is a foam green Warwick -- that bass was not used in the recording. On stage I used a hip shot on the E string to deal with Eb issue. Cheers
Source
 13.
bass as it should sound IMO.
*whispers* Who's going to tell him?
 14. LOLing about all this fuss about a sticker on a bass. It's almost like there was nothing else going on in the world.
 15.
I don't like playing jazz basses but periodically have to buy one cos I just love the look of them and also the thought of all the amazing songs played on them...
The 40mm neck on this one helps a lot - it feels just like my P, if only a little bit shallower. The neck pup has an amazing boom and growl to it, too
 16. Well, I'm two gigs into a three-one-the-trot run, and I LOVE THIS THING. Lots of comments from band-mates and punters about its tone and looks. And the best bit is: the world hasn't ended because it has a Fender logo on it. Happy days, man...
 17. Aye, it's all a bit silly. Some people like something. Others can't see the point in it. And the world keeps on turning....
 18. Nash's headstock logo is too sparse for my liking. I like something that makes a bit of a statement, like Lakland's, or the Fender TV.
 19.
Trickier, yes; but my Jazz is fairly well relic'd - and the decal is on top of the finish, as was the case on early Jazzes
Yip, but if you're looking at something from the 70s it's not quite that simple... :-)
 20.
Exactly. It's not difficult to do.
Unless it's supposed to be under the lacquer of a well-relic'd headstock. That's a fair bit trickier :-)
 21. Yep. It's a shame.
 22.
Like most British people of a certain age, I grew up hearing and liking Queen without ever really being a fan as such, but when I listen to their music now I realize what a creative band they were with such a unique and distinctive sound. As well as John Deacon, it worth mentioning that Roger Taylor was ( and I expect still is) a very powerful and skillful drummer, and he made a huge contribution to the sound of that band, too. Another underrated player.
As it 'appens, I always had Roger down as the weak link. A classic shed-builder, who can't hit his snare without opening his hi-hat which wears on me pretty quickly. Doesn't spoil the band for me, though.
 23. I didn't get on with the micros I tried. MESA Walkabout for me. A little bit heavier than a micro, bit not much.
 24.
OK fair enough. Those of you who did order a Limelight bass built to your spec why did you have a Fender logo put on it?
FWIW, if I ordered from 'new' (and at this time, that's likely to happen) I'd ask for a TV logo, 'cos it's a classic. I just like the look of them, and I say that unapologetically.
 25.
So did you buy it second-hand or was it made to your specifications by Limelight?
Second-hand.
