1.
Sure you can, M. I need to sell the Bergs first..or that was the plan. oh.... and decideing what covering I wanted... Love the white cabs but can't get my head round the practicalities...
[Devil-on-shoulder-mode ON] The white 112 I babysat for a while was a head-turner. I reckon, with decent covers, they'll be fine. :-)
2. One of my favourites... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_ZZI0ZX82M
3.
Wateroftyne what finish is that on your S212 mate it looks great, is that just the grill cloth? Fancy one of these or the S2126. What made you decide on the S212? They really do look like excellent cabs for the sound I'm after. Thanks for joining us Tommy!
It looks even nicer in the flesh :-) Tommy can confirm exactly, but I think it's just standard black vinyl with Fender cloth. There's a grille behind it, so the drivers are protected. I went for the S212 because I wanted to replicate what my current pair of S112s give me (i.e. my favourite ever sound), in a single cabinet. I get plenty of natural high-mids and definition from the single 12s. I don't miss the additional clarity the 6" would give me, but I imagine others would love it.
4. Do a search on BC for TKS Engineering. Great cabs.
5.
I should warn you that I'm thinking (just thinking, mind) about driving for 4-5 hours to filth up your gathering with Gibson basses. Seems an awful long way to go for 4.5 hours of bass geekery though. Be better to make a weekend of it. You guys do anything the night before - go to the pub or something?
Hmm... that might be an idea. Remind me nearer the time!
6. It's not quite a BC exclusive... He's been posting about this on FB for ages :-)
7. It's OK Fer me...?
8. It's probably worth repeating how I ended up with as TKS for the benefit of anyone casually interested in the cabs. I spent a long time with using Bergantinos, which are probably up there near the top of the 'greatest boutique cabs ever' pile. After a couple of years, I realised they just weren't doing it for me anymore. I needed more clarity in the mids, less weight, and comparable build quality. My preference is ceramic drivers, but none of them that I tried rang all those bells. I was about to give up, but then I spotted a post from a Scandanavian BC'er referring to TKS. I Googled 'em, had a look through the range, and got loads of advice (in PERFECT English) from Tommy. Of course it's always good to get opinions from people who use 'em, so I fumbled my way thorough signing up for Pratabas, Sweden's answer to Basschat. From there, I got lots of great, honest info (in PERFECT English) from Swedish players, who all rated them highly. So I took the plunge on a pair of S112s, which I think are just incredible for the money. Fast-forward to now, I've since let one of the S112s go to a very happy buyer (the other is staying put), and replaced it with an S212, which is just glorious. Tommy really cares about what he's building, and IMO, the're the best cabs I've used by a long chalk.
9. Hello Tommy... welcome aboard!

11. It's a match made in heaven. I didn't want to go down the Neo route for my own reasons. I'd nearly given up on finding ferrite drivers in lightweight boxes, but I stumbled across the TKS stuff just in time. They've got so much life and authority - I never worry about the WA running out of steam.
12. I like ceramic drivers. My cab is lightweight, so it's a good combination.
13. Lee Pomeroy does too, for the same reasons..,
14. Hi all I did a dep last weekend with The Gatecrashers, a fab band from around these parts. Great lads, and a hoot to work with...
15. Oh, they're a flipping hoot. Most of each set consists of a medley, and they just shout 'em out. Keeps you on your toes, but it's a riot. Forgot to mention, 1:30 in on the second vid gives you an idea of the great upper mids of this cab. Clarity without the need to for tweeters.
16. Here's the S212 in action at yesterday's dep gig with a proper rock band (which isn't normally my thing, but it was mint fun). You're pretty much listening to the cab - there's not much in the PA if any. They're not a quiet band by any means, so it should give you an idea of the authority of the tone. It's sounds massive, and it felt like it still had loads in it.
17. Here's mine in action at yesterday's dep gig with a proper rock band (which isn't normally my thing, but it was mint fun). That neck pickup is a doozy.
18.
Can somebody fill me in on what this is actually all about? These all look so nice. Are they custom builds, or made from parts? I'm confused!
Allparts necks, not sure about the rest.
19. Saw Lee Pomeroy on the last Hackett tour. He nailed the Rutherford bass vibe. Nailed it.
20.
The worst one ever for me was Wicked Game by Chris Isaak - aaarghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Wicked Game has a little more than the root in it, but it's still a classic example of less is more.
21.
One of these years I will make this event. Down in London at a bass related event this year what were the chances of that. Bugger.
Arr, man! One day...!
22. Hi all... the fifth NEBB is on the horizon! We're very informal compared to most bashes - we don't have demos, guest speakers, etc. It's literally a room of bass players checking out gear and talking nonsense. There's plenty of parking on-site. Hope to see some of you there...
23.
Hi guys! Does any one know approximately how long it takes for an order to be completed? All those sound samples sound great! Have you guys ordered specific pickups? Do you know which ones Mark uses as standard? I might be joining the team soon
Mine came with the pickups it had on it - I imagine they're stock as they're relic'd, but I don't know for a fact. Assuming they are stock, they're lovely.
24.
Hello WOT, I play same genre of music as yourself, would the new TKS 115 be worth waiting on or go for the S212/ S112 modular set up? Thanks Fergal
I can't comment on the new TKS 115 - haven't tried it - but the 12's just do it for me. I'm guessing the 15 has inherently bigger lows and is a little bit less mid-shy. That's just a guess, mind.
25. New cab day = new photo of my Limelight day. Any excuse :-)
