1.
Has anyone tried one of these yet, or better still purchased one? I’m looking into buying a Geddy Lee bass in the next couple of months and really love the look of the new USA version. If anyone has tried one, how much of a noticeable difference is there between the MIJ Geddy Lee basses and new US version? What about this new thick "C" neck shape, and of course how does it sound in comparison? I can only find one video on YouTube which doesn't really showcase it that well. I currently own a Squier VM 70’s which sounds great but I love that Geddy growl!
Woody, I can't comment on the American version but wanted to say that my MIJ version has a very comfortable 'flattened' neck. This really makes a difference for me; I have some issues with flexibility. So, besides the narrower jazz neck, the low-profile neck is ideal for me. Wylie
 2. That is a knockout! I would have chosen a lined fretboard, but that's a personal insecurity . . . Great-looking bass!
 3. Gorgeous bass, thanks for pix.
 4. Squier Bronco, and a small Behringer amp.
 5.
More a hypothesis than a conclusion :-) I think that if many people are struggling to get on with her lessons, then it's fair to question her teaching style.
Her style is called logorreha. Essential points are difficult or impossible to understand, while her personal history and credits take precedence.
 6.
A G-K MB500 Fusion and a Schroeder 1212L. Done.
My Schroeder 2x10 weighs in at 35 pounds and sounds fabulous. W.
 7. Great looking bass, congratulations. W.
 8.
I have about three or four of her books. While there is no doubting that she is a great bassist and that the information contained in the books is very practical and useful, IMO the presentation (same goes for her DVD which I also have) and layout leaves a lot to be desired.
A lot to be desired; her video is all but incomprehensible. What's the point of all her knowledge if she can't put it across?
 9.
Ok probably not the best way to put, We all play for fun. What I was trying to say was does anybody just enjoy playing along to songs on there music player? I know there is a hell of a lot of people on here who are in bands. I'm a bedroom player and will probably remain that way for the foreseeable future. I could never picture myself in a band or jamming situation. I just wondered if there are other people out there doing the same. How do you know your good or confident enough with your own ability to play in front of strangers? The thought of it scares the crap out of me.
I play with a trio, but we perform so seldom, I'm practically a bedroom player. I play along with a number of CDs designed for practicing bass with comping, and I practice scales and etc. I agree with some responders who said playing with a band is a pain in the neck. Even though I play out seldom, living as I do in a fairly rural community, every performance feels like a much bigger deal than it should. Basically, I just love the sound of the bass.
 10.
"Gobsmacked". My daughter bought me an iPad Mini for Fathers Day, I must have done something right at some time in the past - my three Sons sent me belated text messages. Anyway, do any of you guys out there have any suggestions for Bass guitar related apps that I can buy? I'd be interested in any apps that will help my playing and are fun to use. Does any one out there know if there are any apps available that come with hardware that will allow the bass to plug in to the iPad? Oggy
http://irealpro.com/ Oggy, this app is a fabulous play-along and practice program. Read all about it here; you won't need another. I run mine right from my Mac into a little Vox practice amp (which plugs into the bass). W.
 11. I love mine. The way the neck is contoured is perfect (for me). The black and white makes it look ready for a formal affair.
 12.
There will definitely be residual stock of the artist basses with the BAII out there. I wonder whether Fender will reduce the RRP of the basses given they're now using a bridge that has previously only been offered on the entry level Modern Player series
I've got a BAII still in the packaging. Mini retirement fund??!
 13. Beautiful bass and a good review, thanks. These are not easy to come by in the US but I'd love to try one!
 14.
10's and 12's and the most glorious sound I've had for ages was from a a big amp running into a 212 and 210.... But.... sometimes you have to wonder what bass players themselves hear and actually want and they often think a bass sound stops at an Ampeg rig. This is not a dig at Ampeg so much but the outdated view the players have of a good bass sound. I call it the pub 'thunk' sound Anyway... I don't see the point of 15's..never really have, tbh and don't own one.
+1. Tens and twelves.
 15.
You're not being thick i find myself in the same boat with online type learning. That's why i'm ebbing on the side of getting a real live person to teach me.
I take lessons, but I also like Scott's way of teaching. I've watched a few online lessons and his seem to be the best as far as laying out a lesson properly and going through its steps. I think the trick with online lessons is to take what you can and leave the rest--instead of getting hung up and then giving up. Some online lessons feature a teacher/player who will show quite a bit of nice playing but be light on the teaching end. Scott does both, from the videos I've watched. One great advantage among many of a live teacher is that you can ask questions, and I always have a dozen . . . talk about thick! There's no substitute for a solidly grounded teacher; online stuff just about has to be secondary. W.

 17.
So who's played one and what do you reckon? http://fenderjapan.co.jp/jb66b.html
There's one hanging in our local music shop. The salesman came over and asked me to please not drool on it. Fabulous looks, but I did not play it, sorry ...
 18.
I've just received another video from Scott Devine. Absolutely free of charge, well put together and easily understood. http://www.scottsbas...roove-l102.html Anybody else signed up to Scott's website? What you think of this as a resource??
Great stuff, useful and well explained. His enthusiasm is catching as well.
 19.
I think Aerodynes are Japanese.
They are, according to pics today at Sweetwater Music.
 20.
Not got one myself, but I figured that we didn't want anyone accusing us of being racist (bassist?) with the white basses thread lol. Plus there are some nice ones out there. So... what you got?
Here's mine: Geddy Lee, Japan made, with cab and Carvin amp.
 21.
Bet you came home and couldn't plug in because you forgot to buy a cable?
Ha ha! Yes, nice looking bass indeed.
 22.
Could do with some help I'm in the market for a second bass. I'm getting a scholarship at the end of the month which means my budget can just about stretch to an american deluxe jazz. There are other contenders - a 2eq stingray and an am. standard precision, but the jazzes are the front runners. I've only been playing for about 18 months, and whilst I have quite an eclectic taste in music, never really listened to any Rush. I've heard Geddy's name on here and tb a lot, but only recently thought to look up his signature bass. With a badass bridge, I think american vintage pickups (?) and it's looks, it has to be considered. I know the deluxe has active capabilities, but is it really worth the extra £££'s? Any help, or experience of either of these basses, would be much appreciated
I have a Japan Fender Geddy Lee jazz, and I love it. As the top poster said, the pickups are aggressive, the styling is quite nice, the neck profile's slimness is great for me (some arthritis issues) and the bass is made with care and is a dream to play--Rotosounds round it out with massive response. I love the growl of this bass with the tone turned up a bit. Mind you, it's a Japan Fender, not Mexican; I believe the Geddys are made (or also made) in Mexico now, and some people have had issues with them. Not me, though. i got mine secondhand for $750, but new they go for about $900 here, with case extra. As far as I'm concerned, I'd never need a different jazz. W.
