1. These are very nice. I had an early one with four-a-side headstock.
 2. Have you tried 41"?
 3.
... the latest trend of using ... flats ...
Hardly a 'latest trend' when almost all music shops don't even stock them. The trend has been rounds since about 1970 and remains so. There is a minority bucking the trend and using flats; some of us for a long time.
 4. Music is not a competition.
 5. I am in a band that plays the B-side: Three Time Loser.
 6. Dan Lakin's website says 'choose any colour' so that would be popular.
 7. Some say it makes a difference and some say it makes no difference. I say about a hundred things make more difference. You'll have to decide yourself. There are many threads on this topic already if you search.
 8. Old Grey Whistle Test version - interview with Kevin Ayers then song at 1.40: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXZw9JF_3j8
 9.
... Why do so many basschatters delete all the info from their sale thread when it's gone, I think the threads are invaluable when deciding on a fair price for buyers and sellers.
Yes, deleting is stupid.
 10. Look at the sold prices on Basschat, on eBay, on Gumtree, etc.
 11.
Good point about the strings. Unfortunately I'm a bit fussy. I want an unlined fb and passive elects. Also I'm looking for a something a bit different to that which Gak seem to carry in stock. Thanks all the same.
Yes, I wasn't suggesting you go to GAK. It was merely one example of 4-strings being much more common than any other number of strings - in any case.
 12.
If I can throw a question in here please. If going for fretless, is it better to go 5 string? I ask because I'm much more at home on a 4 but 4 strings seem hard to find. Is there a reason for this?
If you play 4 fretted then go same make and model 4 fretless and your muscle memory is in the right place on the fingerboard. I'm surprised anyway that you say fretless 4 strings are hard to find. At GAK for example almost all the fretlesses are 4 string.
 13.
Now there's a thought!! Another amusing Robert Palmer anecdote. I once got his royalty cheque sent to me by mistake. The PRS got my name when a band I was in registered, put two and two together and got five!
How much?
 14.
My herd or gaggle of P's Got them all together in the sunshine. ]
Nice set.
 15. Thomann have never scammed me.
 16.
I keep reading on here about how good Bass Direct are, but in my experience, they are not the 'holier than thou' retailer they are painted to be on here. I've only ordered online from them twice, but on both occasions, I have had to chase up my order. The first time, it took three emails from me to chase up the correct speakon cable I had ordered along with with a Genz Benz 1x12" Focus cabinet, with me having to send the initial incorrectly sent cable back to them AT MY EXPENSE. The second order, I had to chase up my Darkglass Vintage Microtubes pedal two days after I placed the order, despite being told it would be posted the day I placed it. I'm sure Bass Direct are one of, if not THE, best bass retailers in the UK, but they also are not without fault.
I've had poor service from Bass Direct too. I've also had very good service from shops that have been strongly criticized on BC. I've also had a bad experience of Guitar Guitar who are praised in previous post.
 17.
Sorry, I wasn't having a go at you. Re-reading my reply, I think it was tainted by some of the ridiculous arguments on the other website forum I had in mind about topics added to the 'wrong' sub-forum. In fact, they could probably have a whole sub-forum devoted to arguments about topic classifications! Anyway, you're right that this isn't really 'off topic' given that it's very definitely music related, so my apologies for that. Perhaps a friendly mod will nudge it into the 'general discussion'?
No dispute with you intended.
 18.
Gives a whole new meaning to "oil finished body". I'm sure they'll find a ready market with the irritating hipster crowd - if ukeleles can become popular then it proves that some people really will buy any old sh*t.
Ukuleles are brilliant. Calling them old sh*t is both naive and ridiculous.
 19.
Humblest apologies.
No need for apologies.

 21.
Feel free to copy it somewhere else if it's a big problem. Personally, I've never bothered with any of the forum categories. I always use the 'view new content' button, having selected the 'new since my last visit' option and if I want to search for something then I just search 'forums' and it covers every category anyway. Another website I use has a huge number of forum categories and as regular posts complaining about whether almost has been added to the correct forum/sub-forum, while another website has a very active forum with only ONE category heading and the individual posts titles are self-explanatory. I can't honestly say that either method is particularly better than the other, except the latter one doesn't get clogged with posts moaning about where a topic has been posted
I'm wasn't moaning, I asked a question and then responded to an answer. Anyway music topics in 'Off Topic' is quite normal and I wouldn't expect any different.. But I'm just one of the people who prefers to avoid 'Off Topic' and instead talk about music.
 22. Oil can guitar and bass too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzZBHOXN7YM
 23.
I can imaging hoards of redneck banjo-ists clambering to own a Sunoco gee-tar to play on the porch at night. Wuite how anyone would need hundreds of thousands of dollars to set up such a company is beyond me, there is not exactly a high financial outlay to make one of those, let alone 20 show samples. I guess we put these in the "interesting but ultimately pointless" category.
The company may be pointless. The guitars are making music just like any other guitar so not pointless at all.
 24.
The OP thought they didn't make basses.
So that's still 'General Discussion: If its bass or music related ....'
