Schecter Studio are stunning for the money.
Can't vouch for a Schecter Studio as I don't have that one, but I think my Schecter Custom 5 is in the price range slightly below that. I don't think the differences are too numerous - pickups are probably the main one? Anyway, pound for pound, a lot of Schecters are great value. If you can find one in the UK, a Custom 5 retails at around £400. I happened to get lucky on eBay with a nearly new one which was just shy of £300. I have few complaints about it other than the slight neck dive, presumably owing to its ridiculously light body and the super long scale neck. It's probably an easily remedied problem, but I just haven't got round to fixing it. In every other aspect it's very good. Three of its strongest assets are arguably its versatile range of tones, comfortable string spacing and the fast neck.

Hello from Leeds! (Although I'm not a Yorkshireman)

A bit of an information overload for a simpleton like me, but useful nonetheless. Thanks for posting!

That's absolutely awful. RIP.
you don't have to spend a fortune just buy this : http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31292
Easy now. I bought a power brick from Maplins for a similar price, and while it wasn't the same make as that one, I think the price tag had a lot to answer for. Namely, the excessive sparking that occurred after about a year of regular use. I switched it off at the wall and never used it again.
Is that a jazz neck on his p bass? The fingerboard is shiny too and the action looks ridiculously low...nice clip!
I reckon it's probably still a p neck, isn't it? He's just got gargantuan hands!

I had no idea about this comp until now, but I daresay I'm still really jealous! Massive congrats though. I'd only imagine winning something like that would spoil me. Hopefully you won't have the same issue!
Now that is killing stuff - and I'm not dissing the dude in the OP as he is a very good player - but here's AJ really laying it down with a seriously sick trio - Michelle Camilo and Horacio Hernandez - and it's not the Calle 45 clip - this is live and it's smoking:
Now, I don't know a lot about latin music... but I know enough to appreciate just how amazing Horacio Hernandez is. A while ago I was watching another video with him, John Patitucci, Michael Brecker etc. He took a solo and even they couldn't contain themselves, it was that good - relentless clave with the left foot all the way through as well. Anyway, thanks for posting that. I know a couple of Michel Camilo tunes, such as his trio's version of Tombo in 7/4 (also featuring Anthony Jackson, with Dave Weckl on drums), but I'm always glad to find more. Back on topic about bassists - Anthony Jackson is just phenomenal. Sometimes a little too technical and 'clean' for my taste, but really that's only testament to his infallible accuracy. Sometimes he's worth watching just for some of the faces he pulls.

Thanks for posting. That arrangement of Human Nature is great. Wasn't too keen on most of the fills in the verses though - in my opinion they were too busy, and didn't really add anything. Great feel though, considering the demanding technical aspect.
ill add this guy... Busy, yet never out of the pocket.

Colin Greenwood of Radiohead always manages to come up with something unusual that somehow 'works'... off the top of my head, I'd say Airbag.
Sorry to bring this oldish thread back, but Dotfunk are playing at the Jazz Cafe again reletavely soon - would it be a recommended gig? Last time I went there was to see Maceo and it was incredible. One of the best gigs ever...
Yeah I heard. April isn't it? I'll definitely be going again!

Thanks a lot for making this available! Now I'll be practicing that muted double pop thing all night, when really I should be learning tunes. BTW the link to page 2 in the contents section is the same as page 1.
Moon was a vastly overated drummer. He is one of those guys who got better after he died.

True, they're not the band they once were - but they haven't been for 32 years.
Both very well made points. I think I can safely say we've all learned something today kids.
