  1. .. ok.
  2. i was here initially for the low ball nut jokes ...but the problem is a bit like neck curvature, you need to be able to pull the string down on the first fret fretted at the second but only just like a razors width, if it's not doing that then you might need a new nut or at least something under the string at the nut to raise it a tad. Of course nuts can wear, every time you tune up it's gets worn albeit very slightly.
  3. when i first began playing bass in the seventies i started off using a sponge mute purely from my own invention since there was no internet in those days to get ideas from and i was trying to figure out how to play this instrument completely from a self discovery/ self taught point of view and at some stage i must have thought it was easier to simply palm mute...never looked back on that one.
  4. now if they could just bring in a banjo..
  5. the sign originally said "no testing".
  6. i'm surprised he had the front to repackage the rio bassline quite so obviously.

  10. a guitar drop tuned is a baritone all the way until it hits an octave below when magically it turns into a bass.
  11. my only issue with this bass is that i would constantly feel a bit worried about putting the first ding in...
  12. are you aware of the price new? ..ah stay trem bridge..ok
  13. well of course you can always remove or reinstall training wheels but fretlines are permanent .. I think of them more like the diagram on top of a gear stick, essential at first but once you get the hang of it then not so much, however its good to know that they are there to fall back on when required. I have heard some reasons to not want fretlines such as they put some people off or others like the look of a plain board, but I suspect some just like to flex in front of an audience. If you want that no fretlines experience then you can always turn off the lights, ..so far I never felt the urge. Fretlines look pretty much like frets to me and I'm very comfortable with that particular look.
  14. i have a jazz fretless with the dead spot in the same area as the op and i also got rid of it with the fat finger ..not sure if it moved to another location but dammed if i can find it.
  15. apparently the inspiration came to ernie while sitting on the khazi.
  16. well taking the logic to its ultimate conclusion wouldn't that be all we really need regardless of fretless or fretted ..just the dots along the leading edge, everything else would presumably be decorative fluff?
  17. ..everyone goes on about fret lines on a fretless and how superfluous they are ..but nothing about fingerboard dots and led lights on a regular fretted ..go figure.
  18. spock wants his intergalactic love harp back..
  19. how do they compare unplugged?
  20. i wonder how the graphite would compare to the wood if they had the same preamp?
  21. my stingray plays like butter but without the dead spots ..do you think it might be fake?
  22. i'm not quite sure what your point is here mate ... i posted in response to the op who plays long scale but was asking about shortscale and i merely responded by saying you can try it out without buying one ... i own a shortscale too, im not against using them if that's what your hinting at.
