  1. well fretdress first and then you can refret .
  2. i regret not picking up a stingray neck when it was freely available.
  3. i hesitate to post this one ...this band certainly have been rock but they are disco and edm.
  4. bought my one early 2000, still have it and never considered selling it, loving the tone.
  5. i had a thunder iii , poor mans aria pro, neck dive from hell.
  6. it would have to be the wal pro 1 and the squire p bass first edition both bought new back in the early 80s...even my 70s musicmaster would be most welcomed if it was to return.
  7. Rutherford sporting a status combo...
  8. mike came up with the idea for this before double necks were really a thing ... at first shergold thought he was nuts.
  9. mike came up with the idea for this before double necks were really a thing ... at first shergold thought he was nuts.
  10. i don't know what's out there and available but an off white warm cream colour guard would sit comfortably well in that colour pallet....in a pearl pattern even better.
  11. had a bit of a shock coming back on all the replies to this thread (thanks guys!!) because i had no notifications on the bell??? the bass is a road weary wal mkii shedua 4 string and i have just dropped it into wal ... i just needed a heads up as im not sure what i will be quoted but im sure it's not going to be on the low end, it needs some other work done too which they will have to do as it probably involves custom parts but the refret is just an option, i was hoping the fact it started life fretted with the grooves not touched just filled might make it an easy job, i know the luthier did it with a refret in mind.. i never got along with the rosewood as a fretless board. still waiting for paul to get back to me ...looking at his apparent setup, ie one man and a dog i think it might be a while but i'm not that rushed, quite pleased that he could be the one doing the refret budget willing of course.
  12. remember seeing raven with killing joke at hammersmith palais just as nighttime was released ...he was playing a headless status and the tone was pretty much spot on with the album. His style had a lot of influence on me although i could never quite get the overall sound and aggression that raven was dishing out. It was only after i bought a status not too long ago that the final piece of the jig saw was put in place, he was getting all those detailed percussive punches and growls etc from pushing down hard on a status graphite in standard drop d tuning ... a bit of a eureka moment for me. I can finally do a great kings and queens. Hooky was way way easier.
  13. this brings back memories of all those village hall wedding reception discos...a test of endurance.
  14. fantastic technique ...but sounds more like soloing over somebody trying to tune up.
  15. there is something about seeing on stage the distinctive silhouette of that classic four string wal paddle headstock..
  16. i have a couple of my basses set up for standard drop d ... if i pop on a capo can i join the society?
  17. this one was weird because it had a 1x18 or 15 at the bottom and a 1x10 at the top ...so i got rid of the top one and converted it to a 2x15 or 18 ...cant remember now so long ago....
  18. my first bass amp (vox t60 stack) that i used with a musicmaster .... i think it was built in 62...underpowered would be an understatement. followed by hh ..then peavey tnt115 (heavy as f) ..then an ebs drome and now i also have a phil jones double four which i think might have been louder than the vox...
  19. probably if anything it has to be the new romantics stuff ... but bands like maiden have been consistently the joke that flew over my head.
  20. just curious what the price range might be these days ...thanks.
  21. strange ...i tended to have a natural aversion to green guitars, they just didn't seem that rock and roll. Despite this I did however manage to pick up a fantastic playing green guitar at a heavy discount over the red option thinking that maybe i could always get it resprayed ... some thirty years later i still have it and it's still green but i love it very much ...still think about the red one though.
