4. was in london today with the family and just had to have a look about denmark street, found myself in wunjo's where i tried a mex fender jazz 5 didnt like it so i bought something 2nd hand been lusting after one for years but never took the plunge, daughter also fleeced me for a 12 string acoustic >.< have to say im not one to often pick up a bass in a shop (im a bit shy) i felt comfortable enough in there to nervously rattle out some nonsense on a couple of basses
5. i bet he goes as far to confiscate copies in the states Not much can be done about him throwing his toys out of the pram best just not trade the copies on the forum i guess
6.
Chap who i used to deal with at DV lost his job with all of this going on. I had great service from him, so im sure he will get a job with another firm very soon. Seems the firm themselves dont have a lot of scruples though.
not many do, ive been around directors who have done the same syphon money out run up bills they cant pay and fold up, and almost all of them have said "its just business" its a shame a swift kick to the nuts isnt considered good business
7. not much has changed .. same director still no fenders listed on the website everything else will have been forgotten in a few months
8. they look like a cheap dust trap
9.
That`s great Mike but I am on the waiting list to go on Mark D Phillips, guitar improver/master bodger, guitar course.
im on it next week not sure wether to pack my rasp or bastard file for the nuts though
10.
If I do play a bass in a shop I almost never play songs. I play every note up and down each string and see how it sounds, acoustically first and then, maybe, plugged in. Try playing by the neck, playing by the bridge, etc. etc. but not songs usually. I'm checking out the bass not doing a gig.
thats what i do too, but mostly because i forget everything i ever learned the second i pick up a bass in a shop.
11.
Er, have you read any of my posts? It's working perfectly. Because of specific medical problems I have I'm struggling with the ergonomics (i.e. shape and contouring) , not the electronics. That's got to be a possible contender for most random post ever...
i think it may have an idea for option for a way out if the bass faulty, i could be very wrong but i wouldnt recommend it though bad Karma and all that
12.
Were there any other basses in the shop you liked the look of? They may be more willing to swap you for another bass as that way they don't lose out on a sale.
thats definitely worth a try
13. dont get metal i turn it off if i hear it, dont like it dont want it and said so in an ad i put on join my band and still got 3 invites for metal bands....
14.
Some people forget what it is like to learn a new skill, I am new to double bass and have asked lots of what may appear to be stupid questions, some answers were obvious once I had been given some advice. Thankfully the same old people comparing penis size don't tend to frequent that area of the forum
time for me to pick up double bass
15. cant just leave it on your amp instead of the floor ?
16. encourage them for the most part i would say, but if you know full well they have not practised since the last time you saw them surely its best to express your disappointment even if its no praise or encouragement ? telling it like it is ... well thats one point of view but it may not be that way for the other party or anyone else in ear shot
17. gets a lot easier your doing the right thing learning the reading along with the playing keep at it
18. mine are covered on the home insurance in or out of the house at no extra cost, funny thing is none of the tools i use for work were even covered in the house until i paid a few quid more
