  1. I never heard a Rusty Box demo before. Repeat 1000 times, I do not need another effect toy, I do not need another effect toy, I do not need another effect toy... Tres subtle. If you taped around the new pickup layout on your existing pick guard someone here might make you a whole new one for the cost of the multi ply sheet and it would look all OEM.
  2. Not seeing the aggro myself. Winter on the way here and I have busted out the beanie for evening wear a couple of nights lately in preference to the heater. It's surprisingly effective in making the whole world cosy for nil cost except the fashion gaff.
  3. One of the 210 woofers is low mid and below only. That one should go at the bottom with the 110 on top. Never mind the badges.
  4. Result! I don't know that I had that big of a role in the works. I just didn't want to see you flip it for a huge loss when there was only one little job to do to get it working way far better. Then you jumped in with both feet. You can find acrylic sheeting at a sign shop. You want a strip of black and someone with a router to help wack out some surrounds that screw into those spare holes currently filled with ugly (not)countersunk ones. Replace with button head screws while you are at it.
  5. With the proviso that if it stops sounding epic and gets raggedy you need to stop doing that and turn it back down a bit. 800w is a big amp for 310 even if the 2ohm mode calms it down a bit. Turn it up clean until it doesn't get hardly any louder and turn it back down a smidge. That's your lot. You will need earplugs.
  6. Maybe. It all depends on the impedances of the two cabs and the minimum load allowed the amp. When cab impedance is equal they share power draw equally. Ideally your 210 would be half the impedance of the 110 but then you may run into minimum load issues. Likely the 110 is 8 ohm. If the 210 is also 8 ohm you have the issue that it is running half power at the same time as the 110 is flat out. With an 800w amp that doesn't bode well for the 110 and you haven't got the 210 working properly. That being the case, two 8 ohm cabs, if you just want a cool 310 tower that is easy to hear there's probably no harm to be done so long as you aren't going for big volume, but you could do very nearly the same output much more safely just using the 210 sitting on a riser.
  7. I haven't seen an active nominally vocal PA cab without a 70 or 80 hz highpass button. Any digital mixer should be all over any HPF you want as well.
  8. I had a sunburst P copy as my first bass. Now I find sunburst to be a distasteful cliche and everything else is all good. Except 'new relic'. Don't get me started on faux relic.
  9. Humm. Are you setting yourself up for being in charge of FOH? I think you are. I question whether these days the gigs/ venues are really needing a full noise PA if there isn't one there already. Most bands in venues are tending toward the stupid loud end of loud when there's a house system. I don't agree with that. Mostly they play way too loud on stage and it all turns to mush out front. Do you really want to wrestle that gorilla? A good drummer can kick a very loud kick with no support. If you all balance with that you'll be quite loud but conversation will be possible 30m out. Vocal PA ftw.
  10. I must have tagged no sigs when I signed up, because I had no idea what you were banging on about.
  11. Wow. Do what you have to do. I'd have stopped the show and read the riot act on that.
  12. If you have a power amp with a good input sensitivity you can muck about trading preamps for little cost. A 2 channel one gives you a spare amp for redundancy support. Monitor amp goes down, keyboard amp blows a fuse, you're the savior.
  13. The Quilter Bass Block started out as a design request by forum on Talkbass for a power amp that you could plug pedals into and DI out as well as power your FRFR cab. Eventually it became all of that but also possible to plug your bass in direct if you can deal with an extremely basic EQ. Then they gave it a little more EQ in the new model. There's no economy in producing a simple power bloc when it's so close to a real amp. Still cheap for a 800w bass amp / power amp. Pretty compact too, about what a 800w Trace Elliot full fat Elf should have been if Peavey had been listening.
  14. Sansamp Deluxe models give you that freedom and some.
  15. It's not a case of disagreement. I only pointed out that CF foam sandwich is absolutely hopeless at resisting a point force applied across the grain. That is an undeniable matter of fact. It's all horses for courses at the end of the day and you have decided you are an 'uber careful horse' able to insulate the CF wunder cab from the big bad world. All power to you.
  16. If you're busting up Barefaced cabs I'd say you'll be doing same with CF sooner or later. Horses for courses an' all. 8mm ply is a lot tougher than CF across the grain.
  17. Only my recollection of Agedhorse's story told on another forum. My first mention of it on this thread was noticed by the man himself so you can take it as fact.
  18. No, but I know how fragile carbon fibre over foam is when loaded across the carbon plane, as opposed to its panel strength and stiffness.
  19. How so? Accidents happen. Never caught a foot on an uneven surface? Spare a thought for a cab foot secured by a screw into a CF panel. Like I said, horses for courses. If you can be sure of babying it everywhere it goes CF is da bomb. If not, it's going to get ugly.
  20. Those old ones weigh about same as a Marshall Jubilee 410 but bigger. Two of us moved one up one very old single flight single story stair climb once. It was scary for the fact it could have killed someone if it had gotten away on us. Yeah, I am all the way on the other side of it. It's about 50/50 for mod cons on stage. We are majorly reamed on new gear prices down here. A lot comes in by private import by my estimation. Internet used sales rarely say ''NZ new''.
  21. I'm talking about the handful of Basschatters here railing against the world.
  22. Which variant? The late model one with the 12'' gave me a big surprise when I found out it was holding down the pub with no PA support. Contrast that with the truly horrid sounds a 115 combo had given all bands at a festival a couple of years bC. You may as well haul your rig down. Worst case you have to quickly change canoe. Messy but not the end of the world. If you think that would result in never getting another gig there better save it for another day when you can test out war volume with no consequences.
  23. Got any proper test data? Nope, it's all anecdotal preferences. On the other hand there is one well known trial where nobody could tell the two apart despite insistence that the class D was not worthy of the brand. There's a bazillion Class D amps out there thumping away happily and a handful of non believers raging against the Diabolicalness with nothing but their preferences.
  24. Agedhorse might have some 500w frequency response curves to change some minds?
