  1. I guess if you didn't know Mamma Mia = ABBA you would have had to read the rest of the posts all the way to the end to find the first ABBA.
  2. Try ABBA. If that doesn't bring it up try ABBA news. Google surely isn't so messed up these days that it won't find what everyone is talking about?
  3. One of the show directors was interviewed. She expects everyone to be emotionally blown away by the presentation. She said if people come way having seen a good show then she has failed.
  4. If the criterion is gigbag friendly then it has to be the Elf. It's not much bigger than a Sansamp BDDI and soundpeople like its DI. You would probably need to add a speakon to 1/4" adapter.
  5. And yet you succeeded all the same. When it's played along with the pattern as grouped in the traditional way it doesn't require extra memory. It's much easier to remember differences from standard patterns than entire patterns. Even though the result is the same if you succeed.
  6. Ignore that advice. I'd love a nice Roadstar and I'd play anything on it.
  7. Precedent set! When she turns 21 you might give her the Thunderbird and it would really mean something.
  8. I thought the whole point of flats on a fretted bass was to save you the 'breaking in/crudding up' period for rounds?
  9. You must know more about that than me. The switch would need to go back and forth as pedals get switched on and off. Inverting an inversion puts you right side up again.
  10. Monster basses these. Active EQ or turn off and it's passive. Handy for an extra kick without resorting to pedals. Low action easily achieved with the stable neck. And so purty!!!
  11. Clean blending only works easily when the effected signal comes back more or less in phase with the clean. That is by no means even likely when distortion and chorus among others routinely come back 180° out. Even working well it's hell murky compared to separate passbands. Back in the day I had a very complicated fx rig that sent a high pass from crossover to the fx while the low pass carried on clean. Then there was a multi channel phase switching blender to take the two and reassemble. Depending on how many phase flipping pedals were on I had to switch which of the blender channels were employed. All this to avoid a dropout in the crossover range which was around 120hz, kinda important!! This was pre Helix tech. Still a darm sight cheaper if you have the pedals already The other advantage is it gives a single signal for FOH that doesn't need to worry about what jiggerypokery is going on. The famous Mr Sheehan is possibly the most known exponent of the dark art. Even he gets pushback from FOH over a 2 channel bass.
  12. Hiw are you going to find the gig when you can't find the correct forum?
  13. Maybe your alternative device didn't put the L in for you instead of laurence like it did above.
  14. Once upon a time gigging was my sole income. Thankfully that did not last too long as it barely put food on the table and paid the rent. If I had needed new strings it would have come from savings. The best you could say for it was I was saved from claiming the unemployment benefit.
  15. As much as I like Kiss I am ambivalent about Gene Simmons, and wouldn't be seen dead with his signature 'axe'. Aside from that I never made any connections between artists/styles and particular basses for particular tones. This may stem from my mentor playing anything and everything on a custom bass. Then came the internet.
  16. A Trace of this with a dash of very mild overdrive, a slash of HPF and a judicious trim of the high end. Don't overcook the mids.
  17. I think this doesn't surprise me if you sound anything like the WOT demo. My own secret sauce sounds very similar and I have gotten similar compliments on my tone since found.
  18. If you are indoors your onstage 'heft' becomes mud out front. Upgrading the amp might get you another 3 or 4dB of heft but getting the guitar players to quiet down by 3dB would be far more productive.
  19. I do love the satin finish to the maple neck on some MIA. If you have plain poly then that's probably the biggest point of difference. You could probably take off the neck and give it light sand for a painter to shoot it with satin poly and be good to go.
  20. It sounds like you have the same info about the visitor and the same invested in his gig as me. Zero. Likewise the chances of lending him my best bass. A beater maybe, but someone local would be taking responsibility for its return.
