1. The larger of your Clifton basses that I tried was fantastic! Bump!
2.
Thanks porkpie, I will if I ever down there. I agree the jap flower bass was great in terms of weight but Ann didn't fancy standing next to me or being associated with me using it. Pedulla's look amazing. So many toys, so little time! Took my Gibson SG along to practice last night and can't get on with it at all. I thought short scale bass for a short scale bloke? much prefer Fenders. Plus although the gibbo is light and has huge bottom end grunt it's neck heavy and the strap button is in a silly place. Guess that'll be going next
Just stick a strap button on the headstock, be dandy!! You just need to get used to the short scale, takes a couple o weeks and then you'll be flying!
3. I can't stand the P-bass, I love the vintage legacy en all but the sound is woolly, clanky at times and I just hear my finger squeaking and beating on the strings. Has a really boxey sound and it doesn't stand out whatsoever. I prefer something with a hell of a lot more drive - to my tastes bass should be as loud as guitar. I loathe being called the quiet one, if I played one of these I would never get noticed. The neck doesn't feel too bad, but it decreasing speed of playing massively! I also prefer resting my thumb on the edge of a soapbar on a four, as an anchor, instead of a screw. I dont like the look either unless its sunburst, tort and rosewood (has to be rosewood!! or it sounds too thin) with ashtrays. I'd buy a 62 RI cos of the look when its slung low, but i'd end up selling it due to the weak sound. The PJ configuration sounds a lil better but again too wooly. Overrated massively, can get that sound on many a bass.
4. Kirkcudbright!! Damn near Carlisle! Be awesome to have a bass day up there, nice bass sir!
5. Still available, 4 fallen through sales! Room for another...?
6. AWESOME!!!
7. Wonderful!! Thanks for the replies guys . I'm considering separate stomp boxes but its pricey! and the cable etc. Probably better to fiddle with the Boss.
8. Hi, Getting geared up to buy one of these, what would you guys recommend for me please? I've had experience with Boss effects but not Line 6. Help me please Cheers Oli
9.
I may have a problem with this one - Carbon graphite wasn't invented in 1969! I'd have to buy some ghastly wooden plank with the pickup right up against the end of the fingerboard like a Hofner Club. Then again, judging on how I've worn and aged over the last forty years, it'd be a pretty horrid and grimy specimen! Rich.
I own a Charvel Jackson 1988 (D.O.B.) star, I used to look at the one Chris Holmes used in WASP when I was 3 onwards. When I saw one on Ebay (and they're quite hard to find) my father bought me it for my 21st...pretty wicked . I also own a 1969 Custom bass, but its not worn or grimy
10. Awesome collection, Gibson basses do rock better than any other in my opinion. I can't join you guys unfortunately, I have a Gibson EQ but the body's a custom build
11. I say, go for something for a lil bit more character n ballz...or that has an P bass pickup setting like my '69 EB3 with Warwick Flightcase muhahaha
12. Holy shed!! I just watched that go! Lucky man, whoever got it. Congrats!
13. Hmm...ballz, I just bought a Warwick Flightcase. Although I might get this too...
14. Heres mine! Hoyer Porn Thread
15. !!! You have one too!!! They do sound massively like a Ric, but without the poor neck profile. I was trying out the Chris Squire tone with a lil flanger on my Roland Cube30, great fun it was too!
16. I think the OP, assumes its like Gumtree where you have to keep making a new ad rather than bumping it
17. Its a Kubicki!! Haha
18. Never even seen one of these before! Would be the best if the headstock was a lil more pointy . Best colour to be in though, very funk, rock, metal, disco, jazz and anything you can think of...
19. I'm just starting out with FX, have no idea what to get - I know flanger, chorus etc from my Roland Cube and Boss Dr880, I'm think i'm going to stick with Boss and go for the GT-10B cos its the most expensive so I reckon it'll be the best... Any recommendations for other MFX??? I haven't the time, money or experience to seek out specific pedals.
20. Owh!! Cash on collection, didn't see that bit. Cracking quality bass for the money.
21. Gotta love the Jack Bruce sound . I played White Room when I first got this. Played the run up from the open E and I just couldn't stop smirking, something about the growl from the older basses you can't get anymore. I love finding vintage custom stuff but obviously its quite easy to find something which is made of plywood and a lil bit pants but British and German stuff is wonderful from my experience. I love the character too obviously. Email me at [email protected] to recieve quality photos, basschat won't let me upload them again for some reason.
