And all because a courier company don't know how to deliver parcels Sorry to hear that mate. Don't want to rub it in, but it could have been much worse

This place is a really good community, people talk stinky poo occasionally (mostly me), bicker occasionally, disagree strongly occasionally, and sometimes get into an argument for the sake of it, and there's a few members who clearly don't like each other, but these are no different to what you would see in any community. There've been a couple of dodgy members who were/are here purely to take advantage of that community spirit in commercial terms, but generally speaking, there's a sense of mutual respect and looking after each other on here that means we suffer very few of the problems that come with buying and selling on the internet (and there have been some lovely gestures made to people who have lost out on here). Just take a minute to think just how much gear moves around this forum with virtually no issues? Compare that to eBay!!!!!! A few times recently new members have come on clearly looking for a fight and haven't lasted long because they're expecting the more usual internet rules ala Facebook Marketplace or YouTube. People need to understand that this is a local forum for local people All joking aside, well done to Ped and the mod team, I've given you all a lot of crap over the years about various things, and got into some frankly daft discussions at times, but this really is an outstanding place. How many other forums could you have a full on argument with someone you've never met about something life critical such as, I don't know, how many string windings there should be on a tuner, and a couple of weeks later bump into them in person at a BC Bash and be greeted as an old friend.

I live Aero’s Precision body but it’s a leap of faith to assume that adding a Status neck will give you more than you could get for the same money in an intact bass. Graphite necks really work on some basses and not on others. it would look bloody good for sure

Starting this weekend, really looking forward to it mate

With reference to the Yes thread I started and the idea that whilst some time might need to be invested in learning to appreciate an artist, I can wholeheartedly recommend getting into Warren Zevon. Perhaps unlike the prevailing sentiment on the Yes thread, the lyrics are realy really worth listening to, it's like having a singing psychotherapist

Ah yes, the members, what a great name for a band. Go to a night club "You're not coming in dressed like that son" "But I'm a Member"

I have no idea why anyone would use anyone but Interparcel, you can choose the courier who gives the best rate for the specific item you want delivered and the speed of delivery, and Interparcel Customer Service look after you, unlike other resellers who simply wash their hands of it when things go wrong. Scooby, sorry to hear this happened but those you describe are long-standing and know issues with courier, and are why if using such a service you should never use anything but Paypal to pay for a courier, because the moment you mention that you're getting PayPal involved the courier company tend to backtrack.

Bloody hell, you starting a shop Ped

I love the fact that in the opening line of the first post you give the impression that you found this by pure chance in some obscure backwater of the internet Lovely bass Ped, have to say that my ideal threesome would probably involve the Minogue sisters and not P/J/MM basses, but yours is probably more realistic

I keep looking at my avatar and keep finding myself drawn back to this page.......... Fleas are amazing instruments, the best of all world's in terms of design, engineering and function. But wow there is something so iconic about the blue sparkle, I suspect for me it's the association with the man himself, and more than any of those he played, seems to express the true spirit of the guy (how many players could take to the stage with this bass and get away with it). I saw one of these on sale in Japan, not the world's cheapest place to buy a bass, for close to £5k a while back. I suspect that this colour scheme on this instrument, like an LPB '64 Precision or a CAR '62 Jazz, is going to be the future iconic collector's item

Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?
Beedster replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
In the meantime, I'm going to start a "How many times should I wind a string around the tuner?" thread just to see how many of us can agree and disagree at the same time -

Ha ha, a slightly less ambiguous perspective -
Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?

Yep, always give the neck time, most truss rod errors come from either turning the bloody thing the wrong way (seriously) or moving it too far because the early adjustments don't appear to have worked. My gut says that PMT might not be the obvious choice but I'll let others who know better clarify Good luck -

Might be worth checking whether the neck has been shimmed? People do funny things with basses -
Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?
Beedster replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hey mate, I totally agree, there is possibly an issue with the relief that explains the high saddles, but given the OP hasn't adjusted a truss rod before, and might not recognise the warning signs that us old dogs would (tension, ominous creaking........), I would take down the saddles first, and that will answer the question either way. It's not prescription, it's diagnosis, but whilst it might mean that the diagnosis is negative relief, requiring a specific prescription, it might also be sufficient to make further prescription unnecessary? Might have got a bit medical there -
Sound of the Suburbs; stinky poo, can't remember the band

Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?
Beedster replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
This is also a good reason to start with the saddles All joking aside, if it's a used bass, the OP hasn't adjusted the relief before, if there is a problem with the truss rod this is perhaps not the way or time to find out. Check if the action is OK my moving the saddles, and if not either take the bass to a tech or see if there's a local BCer who knows their stuff who might be able to check it out. I've had two basses arrive - both bought on BC by the way - with dodgy truss rods that only emerged when I changed the strings and needed to change relief. If the rod is in any way dodgy, the OP trying to resolve that might not only make things worse but give the seller reason to say 'no way, you broke it' Or am I just a bit obsessed -
Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?
Beedster replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
Agreed Dan, but should't the process be to start with the obvious issue, saddles, and work from there, as opposed to starting with one that is not obvious. OK saddles might be so high because the rod is too tight, but if it's not visibly the case, that's an assumption? -
Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?
Beedster replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
No, but the O/P does says the saddles are as high as they can go, so I doubt he can even think about checking the relief until he's adjusted those down. And if he does so, he might just find the bass plays to his liking? -

OP says saddles are as high as they can go but no mention of relief issues, why would anyone start with truss rod in that situation? Might just be that previous owner, like me, mikes saddles high? -
