  1. Does the current Attitude 3 have a more shallow neck? The Yamaha site lists its specs at 44.5mm / 20mm / 24mm.
  2. I don't know if this helps, but the BB1024 thickness specs are the same as the Warmoth standard profile, which they call "a medium thickness most players enjoy". That neck tho has a 43mm nut, so how different that kind of thickness feels once stretched across the greater width, search me.
  3. Seeing it so snug in its case makes me a bit annoyed that not every instrument is given the same treatment
  4. I've noticed that some current MIJ Ps have 40mm nuts and are called U shaped, and have been wondering if that means they're like the 424 / 1024. And if so, if that combination of fairly narrow nut with decent depth is a Japanese thing. Whatever it is, I want more of it.
  5. The nut might be only 40mm but the 1st / 12th fret depths are 22mm / 25mm. To give a comparison, a Vintera 50s P is 20.8mm / 22.9mm
  6. Replacing an instrument with one that suits you more - whether that means adding or losing strings, or increasing or shortening the scale length - is always an upgrade. Even if it's cheaper.
  7. Is it not one of the homage relics where every scratch is copied from the original instrument, like the recent Cliff William's Stingray? "Our Master Builders have painstakingly recreated this bass in precise detail, as only the Custom Shop can." If so, then most of the money is paying artists to paint a portrait of one bass on top of another one.
  8. I'm wholly ignorant of what benefits which bridges bring ... in what way/s is that one an improvement on the stock bridge?
  9. Thinking your way through an A# melodic minor scale must get the mind suitably anguished?
  10. My first and only listen to the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club made me think that I prefered my Jesus and Mary Chain unchewed. (Though I suppose someone could say the same about them and the Velvet Underground)
  11. The idea of swapping the 1300 for a standard 2024 seems odd to me, however much £££ is added to balance - if you had wanted one of those, wouldnt you have spent your money on one of the ones up for sale? Also: that racing blue is handsome enough that the 1300 would be pleasing company unplayed, and wouldn't the thought of it being there, ready for you if the PJ-only mentality proves to be less than permanent, also be a pleasure?
  12. Interesting price for the BB2024MX on Reverb: brace yourself
  13. Just got some 45-105 GHS Bass Boomers (identical to the Flea signature set) back on my 424, and very happy the bass is to see them again after a month with Swing Bass. I suspect that's partially because the Rotosounds were too responsive to the infelicities of my amateur touch, but in general the tone of the instrument seems a lot more even across the fretboard with the GHSs. In the UK, Bass Boomers are usually alarmingly priced, but Bass Direct have them for a much more reasonable £22+postage. To they're worth it because their straightforward character seems to match the 424 so well. Whilst sorting the action the tech has left the pickup heights as the previous owner had them, which means with both pickups it sounds fantastic but the neck soloed sounds a bit underwhelming. Bridge soloed with tone turned right down can have its moments too. After a few days with only the TRBX noodle neck for company, the BBx24 tree trunk seems much more comfortable. Given that my hands are definitely just medium-medium, I don't really understand why I find this to be the case. Best guess: my thumb is more relaxed as it doesn't have to press forward to grip the back of the neck. In Fenderspeak, would the x24 neck be called a U-shape?
  14. I could ba: Scott Ian told the Washington Post he had stocked up on ciprofloxacin, the favoured antibiotic that kills anthrax. "I will not die an ironic death," he insisted
  15. Yesterday late afternoon, a stray sunbeam landed on my dark red redburst flame maple TRBX, and it looked beyond amazing. When I tried to take a photo of it, though, it looked absolutely awful. I've just now been trying to take a couple of photos of the flame maple, and it's so hard! (I also discovered that it's even harder to get a bass free of dust)
  16. Trying to imagine either a guitarist or a singer having a problem with this, and not getting far 😊
  17. I've never forgotten that line. iirc he had got himself some anthrax antidote ready. Does that sound right?
  18. I'm glad to see there's a Metadeth in existence Edit: less pleased to see it's a Metallica-Megadeth tribute. I had been thinking of it as just a meta-Megadeth
  19. I've found in 2020-21 there's been time enough for practising and obsessive drooling and talking happy nonsense on the forums
  20. Easier to chat on internet forums than knuckle down and practice and improve as a musician/player
  21. Is there any exception to the rule that a colour matched headstock beyond a maple fretboard is a bit Jimmy Savile?
