What is the collective term for a bunch of bass players?

At my funeral, Commando by The Ramones is to be played just before the coffin is carried out, all 95 seconds of it. I wonder if the mourners will like it any better than ye goodly folk of this thredde? -

Another Brick In The Wall is quite catchy, but apart from that, I'm with Johnny Rotten -
When I was 15, playing with a band to an audience for the first time, just before I stepped on stage the bottom E string of my guitar literally unravelled. Since I was on the higher guitar parts, playing the set with only 5 strings wasn't the end of the world, but my half of memories of that performance are of jumping back and forth, playing whatever needed transposing up an octave. Yeugh.

Filling the "gaps" in a 3 piece - during guitar solo etc

I was really confused when I realised what guitar was used in this performance -
Calling themselves Bonnie Prince Charlie would be an unfunny joke that no one would get, but it's the best I can do 😬

If one bassist satiates, is a group of bassists a redundancy? -

My understanding of Grunge covers Superfuzz Bigmuff and not much else 😁 Musically, ramshackle but still compelling, it should sound like you're glad you can't smell it. -
Should anyone care, and I'm very dubious that anyone does, as far as I can tell from checking more photos, the pickups on the 434 are in the same spots as on the 424 / 2024, so the split is again slightly neckward compared with a P.

Am I the only one who has never played a P Bass.?

I only knew to check that, because I once said exactly the same thing in a similar situation and had the same thing pointed out to me Just looking at that bass ^^^^ I didn't truly believe it was actually in the same spot until I saw the guide lines in place. -

I'm never going to come to terms with the fact that Yamaha dropped orange for the 424. The absence of a Precision-y noise from the neck pickup doesn't bother me, as I bought it for the sound of both pickups together. Perhaps that slight extra bassyness from placing the split a tiny bit closer to the neck was felt to give a better balance when the two are mixed together? At any rate, it does it for me.

I was wondering why the split pickup on my 424 never makes a noise that reminds me of Precision, it seems more straightforwardly bassy. Turns out it's about a quarter of an inch near the neck. I'm going to take that as the explanation. 🤷♂️

I think the fretboard going to 24 frets is giving the wrong impression as to where the neck pickup is -

My CD of The Who Live At The Isle Of Wight tells me that when a guitarist shifts gear from good rhythm playing to second rate soloing, not even John Entwhistle and Keith Moon can fill every inch of the gap created. -
What are you listening to right now?

Quantz wrote approx. 250 flute sonatas and 300 flute concertos whilst employed by Prussia's King Frederick II. Guess which instrument the king played 😁 -
White pearloid pg on a white bass with a dark fretboard looks tastier than it sounds:

This is 100% me imagining it written down and 0% actual experience: if, say, the harmony is moving once every four beats, how would sound shifting up to territory around an octave higher for the middle two beats of each bar? That would have the actual bassline moving on the strong beat of the bar, and would also be creating an third voice in the middle of the texture. But maybe I'm just describing piano music, something that for guitar+bass would sound horribly fussy? If so, I would be glad to be told 😁

Bass Direct: they received my order on Thursday, I received the strings on Saturday. Retail price for these strings is typically £33. Their price was £22, plus £2 shipping for the 2 sets of strings. Good price, good service and a bit of nicewarmfeeling for having shopped with a dedicated bass retailer.

I ran out today I feel so mean not being able to hand out the little 💙s that seem deserved.

The question wasn't asking for a pragmatic answer, it was asking, in a generalised way, what kind of music would be coming from the guitarist when you picture your ideal three piece, using the different styles of guitar as the frame of reference. Theres a degree of stereotyping, but then plenty of the bassists posting on BC use similar stereotypes as a shorthand for their self identity, cf the I've Never Had a P-bass thread.
