1. My mate played drums on her last album, released in 2008. He said she was a lovely woman, very friendly and had a great voice.
2. I have a mate who's an ex pro, he's played with some very big names and played on a few Christmas number 1's (that's a clue as to who he's played for) He used to help my old band out when we were between drummers. Whenever he played with us, our performances always improved no end. The entire band lifted their game by miles for some reason!
3.
While playing and you realize your standing in an inch of piss, your playing a dive. Blue
Not had it on stage, but there used to be a venue near me (where I played a few times) where it was a regular thing for the audience to be standing in an inch of piss....
4. If you do get one and decide to gig it, Sono MS in Germany (via ebay) do a very nice fitted hard case for around 50 Euros....
5. No experience of the HB violin bass, but I do have an HB 50's P and a Le Marquis violin bass (possibly from the same factory?). Both are good instruments for the money, so if it's anything like them, you can't go wrong for £105!
6. Admittedly, for bigger gigs, you may need pair the CMD121P with an NY121 cab....
7. Yup, CMD121p.... Got mine from Ambient on here, in "as new" condition.... They go for just over £400 s/h and as mcnach says, does it all... You will probably end up selling all your other amps!
8. It doesn't necessarily have to involve guitars, just some people singing and some actual instruments. Standing behind a laptop looking like you're about to mug the first old lady that passes by with her pension is not rock and roll....
9. I turned off when I saw two chavs standing by a laptop, one of them shouting.... I switched back a few minutes later to see some "band" called The Young Fathers.... I lasted about 3 seconds before I switched off and went to bed!
10. All I could hear was the sound of BBC4 scraping the bottom of the barrel .....
11. I'm gassing for something like this myself at the minute....
12. KevB, my band are looking into doing a few open mic nights as a way of finding proper gigs, any chance of letting us know the name of this place? Many open mics are acoustic acts only and I'm having trouble finding many that provide drums and backline.
13. You've just broken my heart, I bought one of these (in a similar condition) a few years ago for £15.... Gave it to a charity shop that I used to work for when I moved house and couldn't be bothered to take it with me... Think they auctioned it off and it made £30.
14. You did well then, ordered mine on June 23, took over 3 weeks...
15. Just done this..... 30 minutes spent with some sticky back plastic and a craft knife (no parental supervision though) Already looking better!
16. Even if his records have been less than great, he is always good for a laugh, and he does seem to be a nice bloke. He seems to have a nice, dry sense of humour.
17. The CMD121P and the NY121 is a great combination, I'm loving mine.... The Roqsolid cover I ordered, without giving them the sizes, fitted fine. The delivery wasn't exactly quick though.... Well over 3 weeks.
18. Way too many to list them all, but here's a few... http://www.youtube....h?v=J3DjRHaXW44
19. Took a while before Dave Pegg got a mention.... Think I'm the first to mention Danny Thompson? And I bet I'm the only one to say Ashley Hutchings!
20. Got this yesterday from a guy on Facebook, needs a bit of TLC, but it sounds pretty good, and IMO looks great. Nice neck too, not as skinny as my previous Jazz GAS solution....
21. Perfect excuse to watch this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWksvwqM3Ok
22. Ashdown Mi10? or Eden EX10? The Ashdown is only £149 at GAK at the minute! And the Eden at Bass Direct is £185.
23. There was a lot of rubbish pop music in the 80's, even the stuff that we thought was great now sounds weedy and dated. There was also some great bands who still sound brilliant and fresh nowdays. The Smiths, The Bunnymen, The Cramps, Cabaret Voltaire, The Birthday Party, Marc & The Mambas, The Three Johns, Shriekback, & Wah! Were all brilliant and their records still sound great today.
