I was going to put this in my signature but for some reason firefox seems to have a problem copying things suddenly. Maybe it's because i've sinned against god?
You will burn in hell my child unless you repent !
Ireland even though at one point being the 3rd richest country in the world i believe, is still a very old country and catholisism still reigns even though it is now dieing out, but it all gigs stopped there for 6+ months and theres one evreymonth or less now.
No need to explain mate. Both my parents were / are Irish and I know all about their mad views on religion and all that. Apparently they still belive in fairies over there in some parts - I kid you not - and I'm not talking about the Danny le Rue type fairy either.

How did they take him seriously when he believes in mythical beings who live in the sky and know your thoughts and if you think bad thoughts you'll be burned in a big fire by some bloke with a pitchfork and horns on his head? If you ask me, the priest is the one who has been taking the drugs.

I think the British Pub / Venue scene is in decline anyway due to the price of alcohol. Its a rip-off and puts people off going to gigs. Asking people's ethnic background is just pure idiocy. How can that be legal? Surley the anti-discrimination laws could make this illegal?

No probs mate. Looks like Thomann are the only people who supply these so you'll have to buy it from them.

Musicman Stingray Necks - Much difference between them?
WHUFC BASS replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
I had a 1988 stingray years ago and remember the neck being paticularly chunky back then too. -
Seriously, if you do, you'll have alot less explaining to do at customs. Depending on which airline you go with you should be ok - invest in one of them double cases. How many basses are you brining back?
-
Bottom line is - if you're worried about Ohms get a head that can handle 2 Ohms.
Got a question if anybody feels able to answer. I've bought a couple of basses from sellers in the US, and there's a chance that I'll be able to go across to pick them up early/mid August. Anything I should know about bringing them into the UK by air? Any helpful hints would be much appreciated.
Go over with some empty cases!

Forget them both, go for an Orville or a Greco Thunderbird. I used to own an Orville Thunderbird (which was really Gibson Japan) and it was great. Identical to a Gibson without the QC issues or the price tag (I got mine for £360). It had all chrome hardware and Gibson pickups. It had a jazz type neck but with the manditory neck-dive. Sold it for a hell of a lot more than I bought it for too. I have some pics of it somewhere...

Great musicians but musically.... f*** me what a yawnathon.... (imo of course).

Lately I've seen a lot of after-market bass bridge on Ebay and I can't help but think they look a lot like the bridges used on a lot of medium to high end basses that are made in Korea and the Far-East. For example I have seen the Traben bridges on Ebay being sold for about 15 quid or thereabouts. Same goes for some Ibanez bridges too. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking them for using these parts but was just wondering if these come from the same OEM manufacturers that the big companies use. I know they are many different makes made in the one factory so I am assuming this to be the case. Any thoughts?

These are the really early ones from 1983 with the brass knobs and lettering logo (no eagle logo). I had one in black and used it for years. It was my first real bass. I loved it and it served me really well. I remember mine weighing a fair bit but the sound was great. Construction as you would expect coming from the Matsumoko factory was top drawer. You probably won't get a better quality bass for this price. Have a free bump.

I think Ash and Maple give a great combination of sounds. I had an mahogany / walnut Gibson Thunderbird and liked the big bottom-end on it, but there were no real highs which at times had problems cutting through the mix. I've found that Ash (and Alder to an extent) for me are the perfect woods for bass guitar bodies.
