Hi Ive been playign double bass for a year and a half or so but had to stop lessons because my fmaily couldnt afford them anymore and i dont want to waste having spent 1200 on a double bass myself. So are their any really good books apart from samindl which i already have that are good and show technique along with excersises. I found simandl good but now that i dont have a teacher to help me in stages. So im looking for a book(s) that are a bit more easy going and focus more on pizz as i feel ill be using this more later on especially when i go to uni. Any help is great. Thanks Sam H

Ive been listening to alot of jamiroquai lately and love playing alot of their tunes, but i want ot find more bands with that bass groove, sort of funky aswell. Im not looking for actual funk bands like funkadelic or TOP or Earth wind and fire. I was also reading the Neo soul thread and really liked the youtube links posted by bubinga5. This thread is very interesting. Say i wanted to get some stuff to play Dub step and possibly play with a rather good(well i think he is anyway) i know. Things like borgore, rusko and more drum and bass type stuff. From what ive read here a octave up and down, flanger, maybe an auto wah. But i dont get Low filters or whatever they are. Do they just cut the high frequencies. What can you use for this. Whats the basic setup you can use for those real deep sounds. Thanks Sam H Edit: and a fuzz.

I left the lead plugged into the passive input after playing my jazz and plugged in my Yamaha which is active. Well i loved the bigger tones that i got from having it in the passive especially because i have to practise at lesser volumes. But what i wont to know is if im causing any damage to the amp at all. Its a hartke lh500. Also if its ok at lower volumes will it be ok at higher volumes? Thanks Sam H

Lately ive been doing a lot of two handed tapping with my new six string, and i can never get the c string to ring loud enough or get a sound thats even. Also the b string when tapped booms alot aswell. Im wondering whether a compressor will even out the sound, reduce the B and make the C louder. Or is this just a something to do with me improving technique and EQ to improve the sound. If the compressor would help can you recommend me one, i would prefer a stompbox style one. Thanks Sam H
