1.
Greetings from the US- fellow dnb synth bass player here & spend a lot of time on US forums- but it hit me one day- this music started on the other side of the Atlantic so let’s see what they’re doing over there… Great thread you have here- read it from start to finish. I saw some mention of the Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter Pro- I got one about a month ago and it is everything it's hyped up to be. The filters all sound great & knocked the grove regulator 2 off my board (imo this is much more of a funk then synth.) The ability to trigger the filters multiple ways (envelope, hot hand, lfo) & add lfo's makes this one KILLER pedal for synth bass. I wanted to note that it can not (directly) do what the moog- mf101 or iron ether xerograph do as far as controlling the cutoff freq of the filter BUT you can work around it with backpage parameters and expression pedal control to still get awesome deep dubby sounds. Also there are some new exciting pedals coming out within the next few months (still in development) that should help achieve the live dnb dubstep synth bass sound, since I didn’t read anything about them on here figured I‘d give you all the heads up: The Mini Expressionator will allow one expression pedal control for 3 expression pedal capable pedals. “It also will have the ability to use different taper presets such as linear, inverse linear, audio (where it ramps up at the end of the sweep) and a couple that are still being considered. the Expressionator uses digital pots to control each pedal input so depending on which taper you select that will be how your treadle (expression pedal) behaves. It will actually turn an audio taper into a linear.... correct it, so to speak. I would imagine that both your BOSS/VPjr will behave the same way through this box, and you would just choose whichever one you like best as far as feel, looks or what fits on your pedalboard. The Taper LEDs have a secondary function of being meter (kind of like those visual volume pedals) so it shows you how the pedal is reading your taper.... and the taper/meter LEDs change color depending on what channel you are on.” Copilot FX is working on a new analog octaver named the Cubic- there are clips floating around online- this thing sounds FAT and as blasphemous as it may sound it could very easily rival the OC2. It has more control over the Octaves tone & volume and also has a glich synth fuzz included in the circuit. http://soundcloud.com/marcsterlingbass/cop...cubic-prototype Red Panda Particle Granular Pitch Shifter/Delay this is a wild sounding pedal that chops the input signal into little grains of sounds to manipulate the sound. It can do the standard pitch shifting and delay sounds but also is capable of doing chorusy, ringmodish, modulated sounds. It really is a killer pedal. (I’m at work now and cant properly link to all of the sound samples/pictures because sites are blocked- but google searches will turn up some more info)
So many useful things, yet so little money. Also were can i buy a 3 way looper, were i can turn off and on each individual loop. So i can have each one separate but mix them together how i like.
2. Location and price would be nice. I used to have a 5 string btb and wouldn't mind a backup 6 string,
3. Id like to have both, but i couldnt afford to keep both. It seems to me that source audio offers a bit more in terms of flexibility then the moog on its own.
4.
just got the heads-up from Will Cady @ Source Audio that the Bass Envelope Filter Pro is now available at Thomann.de for those who are interested. now i'm just wishing my life away 'til payday (as usual..) http://www.thomann.de/gb/source_audio_soun...ss_envelope.htm
I have a feeling my moog LPF will be sold for this.
5. Its pretty cool, well done. Really annoyed i missed this. Spent the whole of Saturday jet lagged.
6. I might see if i can find the cash for this, wouldnt mind a fretless to play around on.

8. Im in love with reason. Mainly use the drums, kong, redrum, dr octorex. Going to order a midi keyboard soon to get the most out of it. Is record worth getting to use with it?
9. And the BEF pro is out soon. Im thinking ill get one. They say $213 retail so it might be a tad cheaper. Also when using something like the boss splitter do you have to have another to join the signals back together? Im thinking of putting an octave down and fuzz in one and everything else i.e moog, distortion and chorus in the other.
10. Ive finally got a round to recording something and went with blue bossa. A lot of mistakes and sorry for the solo... eeek. I used reaper to record it all and took a drum loop of propellerhead's reason. Any feedback would be great. 12. Great stuff Sibob. Really liked it and chase and status are great especially live.
13. Ah excellent, ill see if the drummer's octopad has a midi clock and i presume we can then from of him and his beats, maybe?

New Blog

If you ever do a blog on playing with a synth player that would be great. Me and my synth player often have a lot of trouble with knowing what each other should do, as he can go as low as me and create a huge amount of sounds etc etc.
15. A line 6 m9 is defiantly on my list at the moment. I might not need all the options atm but i reckon i will. With a midi clock do you just take a line from my pedal board from somewhere or other. Lets say an m9 and then into the synth players setup?
16. Get to see Warpaint(jenny lee Limberg) in august aswell.
17. Im very satisfied with the sound of my double bass. Not its amplified sound atm but its actual sound. Mainly, i think, because i won't be able to afford anything better for many many years and im not sure if i wont anything better. The only thing i mgiht be able to afford is a new set of strings one day and maybe a pickup. But i do feel like i have a bond with my one. It took such a long time to find and it just plays so nicely to me. Of course there is a few little things i would like to change but i dont think these would effect the sound all that much.
18. Its just when you start getting into playing dub-step on your bass, that ou want to find a drummer and maybe a synth player, so then when your playing in the garage with them. It gives some kind of ability to be aloud to make to amke yourself broke by buying pedals. i don't even have a job atm but i do have a synth player and drummer.
19. Really cool. Something im going to try and replicate now. Also could you use your drummer what he's using?
20. Jenny Lee Lindberg from warpaint Melissa auf der maur Kim deal-pixies If you google Jenny Lee Lindberg theres rather a good pic of eh.. some parts.
21. That looks perfect dood. But no-where seems to sell them. At all.
22. Im not to sure, i was looking at some m-audio and tascam ones but have been on the lookout for some second hand motu interfaces, as they seem to get alot of praise. Ive been looking into whether it would work more-so at the moment. And it seems it will so from an quick ebay scan, those makes seem to pop up alot.
23. But ive heard things about them not being able to process 8 tracks because usb is too slow or something. Is this true?
24. From reading other threads and doing a bit of research, im still a bit confused whether this would work. If i were to get an 8 input usb audio interface, would it be able to record multiple tracks with it or will it just bung the whole load into one track. My laptop is a 64 bit, windows 7, 4 gb ram and 500 gbs of memory. I think its a i5 processor. I dont now if this will help. Any input, its something im looking at getting in the near future as i can really upgrade my laptop to something with firewire at the moment. Or can i get somekind of external firewire port to plug into the computer. Thanks Sam H
