Just bought a pedal from Ray - super easy guy to deal with. Pedal was delivered very quickly and extremely safely packaged. Perfect. Cheers mate.
ah.. i have audicity. i hope spotify doesnt end up getting taken down when they find out people are doing this though
It's not a new problem with online music/video and not one anyone is currently that concerned about. However, we might have to be careful making these kinds of posts in future. The Pirate Bay case sets a worrying outcome that a site which knowingly assists (either actively or passively) in the act of violation of copyright is liable... at least in Sweden. And Italy are now having a crack at them as well under similar laws. Although funnily enough, Google indexes links to illegal content and noone is taking them on. Something about being part of a global empire seems to scare people off.

Single cut bass guitars are the Devil's spawn
heh heh!! I chuckled out aloud! Tell ya what though, if the singlecut is contoured nicely, after a 2 hour gig, you do notice how much more comfy it is not to have an upper horn digging in to ya chest.
Stop wearing your bass around your moobs then. Ah. Another old argument... funny how they're all cropping up at the minute. -
And you should learn to read notation. Of all the music related arguments I've heard, this is the dumbest.
Just to clarify, we - or more specifically Nick - do everything we can to get a transcription in every issue.
I think I probably phrased my last paragraph wrong - didn't mean to suggest that you or anyone at BGM didn't try hard enough to get transcriptions. But it might have come across that way. I suppose I was just trying to say, when you're looking at ways to improve the mag don't leave them out. Keep up trying to get 'em - and if you can get more than one in an issue then that would be even better. But this is just my opinion, and my opinion of what I think other people like me would appreciate. I'm not always right (or so I'm told )
It would be really cool if people found a few things they liked about the magazine and made some suggestions on how to expound upon them.
For me that's not so easy - I think everyone does a great job with technique columns and the Lowdown, so can't really suggest how to take them further. I would just be happy to see them continue as they're going.
I think I read on here that people would like to see more complete transcriptions in each issue..... I know that a big problem with transcriptions in the past has been copyright, and it can cost the magazine an absolute fortune to get clearance and usage rights for the transcription of a popular song.
Well I've made comments about the transcriptions on numerous occasions so had better say something now. I can appreciate the copyright situation is a pain. And whilst I've pointed out that Guitar World have managed 4 or 5 complete transcriptions for guitar and bass, every issue since memory began. I wouldn't be surprised if they're a much bigger mag and have more financial resources to deal with copyright fees. But I think it's a matter BGM should take seriously. A lot of players (particularly newer players like me) like them. And when you do so few, it can lead to disappointment when readers aren't interested in the one you've picked. So I regularly post that I'd like to see two done from contrasting genres. The only transcription in BGM that I can remember getting excited about was The Real Me - and it was too hard for me at that point.
-
That sounds pretty odd - but I'll give it a try. Cheers for the suggestion - I'm always up for a bass related laugh.

Welcome. Probably best to repost your question in the basses ("Bass Guitars") forum.

'bout half way through this current issue - and it is probably the best I've read (baring in mind the short time I've been playing bass and buying BGM). I'd still like to see a bit more information on competitor products included with each review. Like, "if you prefer feature x then you might want to get product y instead". Or if that's too controversial then maybe just a quick "related products" type box where they just list the names and prices of the competition. Rather than leave me needing to trawl the web if the item being reviewed wasn't quite right. And more transcriptions please. Just one extra per issue from a contrasting genre/style is all I ask.
Got back from hols today and Guy Pratt was waiting on the doorstep!!!
Wow. Did he bring the book with him?

+1 on the guitar. I wanted one of them so bad way back in the day when I played. But it's a big no on the bass version. Maybe my tastes have changed a little over years, but I just think it's the ugliest and fattest thing I've seen since Sonia left Eastenders.
And we still speak to John even though he's from Sunderland.
Damn... such a cool story and such a great shop now ruined by one poor choice of birth place. I jest of course. Interesting stuff Rs.
Sounds like just root notes to me with something else playing the arpeggios over it.
Ah piss. Cheers though.

I've been doing a lot more transcriptions these days - trying to get my ear back in shape and also learn more about the use of bass in bands and genres I like. (Since I'm still a newb). Anyway, was doing Dark Wings today (Within Temptation) and I think I've been doing a good job. But I just casually glanced at an internet tab for the bassline and realised that where I'm playing the full arpeggios, the tab isn't. I'm pretty certain I'm right but would like someone else's opinion. Would you mind? In another thread, Faithless suggested that raising the pitch an octave can help the bass stand out. So that's what the second file is.

That is actually pretty cool.

My conscience just pranged. It must be pretty heart breaking to have the very people you're trying to help, take the piss out of your product.

Hey! I've revamped my bass gallery mini-site...

I could swear most of those pictures are the same. Ever thought about NOT buying a Fender? -

60 euros!?!?! Bit of wood, cheap bridge from ebay, some cheap pegs from ebay or something, and some old strings.

USE THE CAT HANDLE!!! Hahahaha. I really did just let out some wee when I read that. And I don't know why - because it makes no sense at all.
By the looks on stock take these cabs sell like hot cakes so some T-shirts to spread the name more can't hurt.
Can someone loan me the money for a Compact? Everyone has to financially support Alex so that when I am ready (and able) to buy then he's still here.

Just play music. Especially if you're not pro, you've just got to spend time doing what you enjoy. Life is too short and you will be dead before you know it. As much as I'd love to make the old traitor jokes etc. if something else is calling you then you've just got to do it.
